Fox's House scored series-best ratings last night, snagging an 11.2 rating in adults 18-49, with 27.8 million viewers, according to Nielsen Research. House held 84 percent of its lead-in from American Idol.
Idol continues to post big numbers in its sixth season. Last night's episode took a 13.3 rating with 33 million viewers. The combo helped Fox to an easy win for the night.
CW's Gilmore Girls had solid numbers despite bearing up against Idol, earning a 2.1 and 4.3 million viewers. Veronica Mars fared less well against House, with a 1.2 rating and 2.7 million viewers.
At 8 p.m., Fox scored a 13.3 for Idol, with CBS earning a 2.3 for an NCIS repeat. NBC and CW each scored a 2.1, for Dateline and Gilmore Girls, respectively. ABC scored a 1.7 with an America's Funniest Home Videos rerun.
At 9 p.m., Fox took an 11.2 for House, with CBS earning a 2.3 for a Unit repeat. NBC earned a 2.0 for a repeat of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and ABC scored a combined 1.4 for Big Day and a Knights of Prosperity repeat. CW scored a 1.2 for Veronica Mars.
At 10 p.m., NBC earned a 2.9 for a repeat of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. CBS and ABC each earned a 2.7, for 48 Hours Mystery and Boston Legal, respectively.
Overall, Fox towered over the other nets with a 12.3 rating/30 share and 30.5 million total average viewers; CBS, 2.4/6, 10.0 million; NBC, 2.3/6, 6.8 million; ABC, 1.9/5, 6.4 million; CW, 1.7/4, 3.5 million.

omg well done to house!! unfortunately i dont live in america so we are waay behind on house epsiodes! but season 3 is great so far!!
house is defs the best show! but this stuff about veronica mars! all i can say is its a great show!! not better than house but if the channels gave it a chance it wud do really well!! where im from its on really late so like no one watches it! yet if they put it in a better time slot and advertised it a bit more i think it wud get really good ratings!

There have been many shows that I have watched religiously... House, Am Idol, etc. but there was always one undedog show that I love that has a chance of being cut. Before it was Alias and now it is Veronica Mars. I just started watching VM when it switched to the CW. The show summary sounds stupid and i thought it would be. A high school detective yada yada. But i watched it and it is the best show i have ever seen. When watched from the beginning (season 1) it is amazing! It all makes sense and i love it. So do critics and anybody who gives it a chance! So please watch it once and if you dont like it dont watch it again. I dont want my favorite show to go off the air.moreless
27 million for House...wow...titan ratings!!! Does anybody know what VM needs to avoid being cut? I heard the CW was happy with its 3.3 ratings earlier this year, will that be enough to keep our plucky little detective around for one more year?

House is the most intelligent, well-acted, and brilliant show I've had the blessings to see in so very long, maybe ever. Hugh Laurie could not have been a better choice. He is SO funny, whether introducing at the globes, or picking up. He is 'us', he is real, he's not at all affected or hung up on himself or cares about the 'bling' of the world. He's misrable, rude, crude, and yet we know his heart is in there somewhere, we get glimpses and those are well worth the wait. Hats off to the writers of the show, as a former nurse, I have a hard time keeping up!!! You do your research very well. Very impressed viewer who pushes your show whenever I can. Pat in MN

I'm sick of reading that Veronica Mars got crushed by whatever on Tuesday nights. That's a show deserving a good audience it'll never get.
House was brilliant last night, I think it was one of the more heartfelt deeper episodes that finally makes House evaluate and look at himself closer.
