Ratner drops Murder charge

Filmmaker Brett Ratner has ditched plans to direct ABC's drama pilot Women's Murder Club because he won't be able to wrap Rush Hour 3 in time.

Scott Winant (Showtime's Huff) is in talks to shoot the project, which centers on a homicide detective (Angie Harmon) and her three girlfriends, who solve murder cases together. Ratner will remain an executive producer on the pilot.

Rush Hour 3, starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, is set for release in August via New Line.

The director of the pilot isn't going tto make the show a hit or miss. The show has to have a plot and the plot must be interesting. Brett Ratner may have ditched plans to direct ABC drama because it wasn't interesting and wouldn't mskr it on ABC's schedule.

I think ratner deserves credit for creating a box office hit for Jackie Chan on US shores via the Rush Hour movies. Many other attempts to cash in on Hong Kong stars have failed, but hey look at ratner, he succeeded! sure the money demanding, power hungry, moter mouthed chris tucker was involved, but he can be tolerated for the greater good.

Ratner isn't a hack but he isn't particularly great either. I think he's biggest problem is his attitude.

Ye are being a little harsh. X-Men 3 might not have been as good as X2 but it wasn't that bad considering how little time he had to shoot it.

He produces Prison Break aswell (i think) and thats a great show.

I also loved his work on Jessica Simpsons music video, it was seriously fantastic!!!

I'd like to back-up everything that jamoon2006 just said. Apart from "X-Men3" being a disappointment...as I would go so far as to say it was a complete disgrace to everything that is the X-Men universe (obviously I read one to many of their comics when I was a kid). But it wasn't entirely Ratner's fault I'm sure, he should be tied down along with whoever wrote the script and beaten with a rubber hose.

Am I the only one who isn't really impressed with Ratner? "Red Dragon" is the only one of his movies I really cared for, mostly because of Edward Norton. "Rush Hour" didn't do anything for me, and "X-Men 3" was a disappointment. Maybe getting him out of this project might be a good thing. And just for clarification, is this series based on the James Patternon novels (1st to Die, etc.)?
