Report: Jericho leveled

In the CBS drama Jericho, a small town in Kansas struggles to survive after nuclear attacks isolate its citizens from the rest of the country. All the work they've done is apparently for naught, as CBS has dropped a nuke right in the town square, says Variety.

The trade Web site cites "several people familiar with the situation" as saying Jericho has not been picked up for another season. Variety did not mention any reasons for the decision.

Also reportedly getting the cut from CBS are the comedy Class and drama Close to Home.

CBS officially announces its fall lineup tomorrow.

I am still in total shock that Jericho is again cancelled. What a fine series. I hope with all my heart that SciFi will pick up the series before the actors are all stolen away. I am still fighting for it's survival every where I can......

This is the best show on television in years. CBS is making a mistake by cancelling this show based on the outdated Nielson Ratings System. I am boycotting CBS and their sponsors.

wow this series is dead when it was gonna get real good? I wont watch the new kid nation ever! i bearly even watch tv but i was faithful to this one day possible drama show(Any one else feel this really could happen 1 day? CBS read the complaints if there seriously isnt enough no good reality shows already then take jericho out but the 11 million people that watch is going to embarrass the rating of a kids reality show that has a huge amount of internet writers and tv watchers upset. We the people will help kill the ratings of cbs for now the only thing they have that i will even consider watching would be criminal minds but really i dont want cbs to get the ratings so just borrow it off a tape. THIS IS WAR

My husband and I are very disappointed to read of Jericho's cancellation. We did not miss an episode and really liked the series. We could see something like Jericho happening in like circumstances. It kept us coming back for more. We didn't always watch when it was telecast, but we had it on weekly record on the DVR. Another strike against CBS - we won't be watching it on Jericho's time slot.

Jericho cancelled and replaced with Kid Nation? Please tell me they are kidding. (no pun intended!) 40 kids dumped in a NM ghost town, without adult supervision? That sounds like child neglect to me.

Just what we need in prime time swingers, (sex in the 70's?) and vampires. Not in my home.

Surface, Invasion, Drive and now Jericho. Where is it going to end? The raing system needs a mega-huge update. This cannot go on! I am SO disappointed right now. Can't even write...

Government conspiracy dude. It struck too close to home for the liberal media who wants to put their head between their legs and dream of "world peace". Tricky Dick was behind it and that is why the new government was established in Wyoming...hee,hee :o(

I cannot believe that CBS cancelled Jericho. What is with the trend of networks canceling well-written shows. The CW drops Veronica Mars, NBC cancels Raines and now CBS with Jericho. But all of the reality shows that require no intelligence get renewed...this is BS.

Horrible news. Not sure what the networks are thinking. NBC killed Black Donellys and now CBS dumped Jericho. Ugh.

I can not believe that Jericho is leaving us, I go out of my way to make sure I don't miss one show. Why is all the good shows get pulled out. Kind of make's me mad. What can I do to convince everybody this is a good show. I know there is a war going on, my husband is in the military. It should not effect anything. I just don't understand, I guess I never will

I am so angry about this and will be for quite some time until they put Jericho back where it should be. CBS doesn't know a good thing when they see it and I question the intelligence of the executives. I don't know how they think the numbers were anyones fault but their own by running a split season so it makes sense to me to run another season, uniterrupted and see what happens. What can it hurt?

Can't believe another good show gets the ax while American Idiot, Dancing with the once we stars, Survivor:Island of boredom and the rest of the "reality" shows keep going like the energizer bunny. We only have to blame the dumbed up American public for their continued success. The number of good shows to fall by the wayside increases every year. Jericho, Drive, John Doe (maybe you remember this one), The Threat Matrix and too many others to mention, lose out to Joe Millionaire and the Simple Life. Come on America, say no to these easily and cheaply produced shames of entertainment. What ever happened to finding the next pop/rock/country/rap or whatever star on the radio because you liked the song? Why do we care who Joe Blow gives a rose to? Live your own reality. Watch T.V. for well written, original story lines. Stop watching the "reality" shows. Besides how real do you really think they are? Find a good story, whether it's one I like or not. Watch Ghost Whisperer or CSI or Grey's Anatomy at least they're not a staged "real" show that is causing the demise of quality shows with an interesting story line.

When I didn't see Jericho listed for last night, I started searching the web. One person said it could still be seen on the Net but I never found it. Nothing was settled at the end and I was surprised they cut it off with an ending. They should have at least let the series continue until a finale.

I am one of the few people that live in the UK but have an American Credit Card through my work. I downloaded this through iTunes and have been hooked from the start. So much so I managed to get most of my department watching this show, now I end up looking like a complete div telling everyone that this show has been axed. It's not actually come out in the UK yet and I hope they never air it because I don't want anyone else to suffer the same anguish and hatred I have for CBS.

Anyway, thank CBS for the Credit Card bill and gigs worth of wasted space I could have used for spam. Hats off to yawl.

This is a bunch of CRAP! This was a really great show and I was so looking forward to season 2. I absolutely HATE when the networks pull this kind of garbage. It truly makes me want to never watch another CBS show ever again.

I am a avid sci-fi, fantasy and horror fan, sadly though this was one of the few shows that got me hooked. It is poor business when you cut out a whole community like many stations have, I even started watching CSI and other shows cause of Jericho, but now I will not watch a single minute of their programming, this is the mistake with many broadcasting companies...partly why I have starting watching more BBC and European television, they target my genres while American t.v. really ignores us...

What a sad day for fans!

here's a question for cbs (and fox for that matter why are you cancelling fantastic shows so early... is it because you envy abc? because your not them! my final two cents are these words of wisdom, break the ugly cycle of cancelling quality well written programs you both say its because of ratings but why not try watching the shows to see how good they are instead because all your actually doing is driving people away to abc and other networks who know not to cancel good tv shows and who are WILLING to give them a chance!

This is such a shame....great show!

What a silly move! A three month hiatus was the death blow from CBS... you can't do that to a freshman show that is still building up a fan base! And, haven't they learned from the revolving door that is NBC right now? They've cancelled a slew of shows after the first season, and the network has been going downhill ever since. But of course, they have to keep going with Survivor, because everyone loves to keep seeing the EXACT SAME THING over and over again. Last year they took a chance with a freshman show, Ghost Whisperer, and look how that turned out! Bringing in the best ratings on Friday nights now! American Idol on Fox offers some stiff competition, but CBS won't get ratings if they keep yanking their big guns!

They have to at least shoot an ending to the story; leaving it there is just cruel.

How can they do that to Jericho?! They are insane... it's such a good show. One of the best in a long time.

How do you cancel one of the best show on T.V. Jericho is a hit who ever is running CBS network is driving it into the ground. Next they will cancel Hero's. But lets keep beating the dead Survivor Horse!!!!

OH yeah, and here's another thing CBS brain dead programming monkeys. You don't take a freshman drama off the air for three freaking months while it is still building an audience. You can do that with a Lost or a 24 which has already had success, but not a rookie show! Once again, nice job idiots!

yeah one more reason to utterly hate American Idol and the utter dumbing down of the American tv audience. It amazes me that people watch that crap like it matters and good dramatic television is cast aside. Funny thing is that Jericho got the best numbers CBS had seen in that time slot since Idol started. Amazing decision. WTG guys.

Another network not to trust. I called CBS today about Jericho and they said not high enough ratings. Exactly how we lost Drive. There is a problem with the rating system and I am fed up with these networks who put the bait out there and then pull it back when it's too soon or decide to just quit feeding us what we like.

It really is a pity that they are canceling this show--but I'd love to know the real reasons why they are cancelling it. The article above made is sound like it had more to do than ratings, because I think the show had rather decent ratings. But I will say that they did kill of one of the best characters in the season finale which put a bit of a dent in it for me.

I myself never watched Jericho, but I think so many shows get the axe because of the networks presenting "fall" finales. When you take a show off the air for 2-3 months, people don't come back and watch it. It only worked successfully with Prison Break. Just about every show that has had a "fall finale has ended up canceled or has suffered a ratings drop. "Lost and "Heroes" to name a couple.

Jericho seemed to be a popular show. I can't believe that the writers couldn't think of how to continue the show

First show I had watched on CBS in ages. Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less from the network that kept the notoriously un-funny and non-entertaining "Everybody Loves Raymond" on the air for years. Good job, CBS...you're right up there with FOX now in terms of "Networks Who Cancel Great Shows For No Good Reason".

I'm getting fed up with all these new shows getting axed after half a dozen episodes or one series, what ever happened to shows being on the aire for 8 or more seasons, problem is that it's all about reality tv and braodcasting companys making a quick buck by voting for some dumb wannabe singer or removing someone off an island or from a house.

Nuts to CBS! Literally. We're sending lots of them.

CBS did not stand up for fans, or for their own excellent show. And they don't understand how to calculate or make hay out of the way people view television now--so this wasn't even an economic decision.

Not done yet.

I'm so upset! My family and I always watched, and enjoyed the fact that it was a show which was so different than anything on television. Loved the cast, I'm going to miss them so much. It's pretty bad that a show that does well in the ratings still gets axed! CBS I hate you right now!!!

What is wrong with these people. Does being hired by a network for a programming position require a lobotomy? Jericho was a fantastic show. Much of what CBS pumps out is pure swill; no wonder no one in command recognizes quality when they see it. If CBS follows through on this one they've just lost another viewer and from the most of the comments posted here it won't just be me.

CBS had better wake up if it wants to keep the viewers! Jerico was a fantastic show and a great change to all the other humdrum shows on tv. This is why I cant watch televison much anymore. There isnt anything on worth watching! What is up with all the reality shows? Who's reality are you showing anyway?

I'm sorry but this was a great show. I will admit certain episodes were kind of slow moving but in all this was an interesting series with lots of intrigue and now unresolved issues. Jericho was also the only one of these serial suspense dramas to make it to a finale. Remember Kidnapped, Smith and The Nine? They did not last that long because the storylines couldn't keep the audience hooked Jericho could. I was hooked when I first heard about it and if I didn't watch it on TV I watched it online. CBS should give itr a sophmore season or bring it back as a mid-season replacement next year if not that then at least continue the show on Innertube for those loyal fans of the show. I say we do what they did when Star Trek was going to be cancelled back in 1968 write CBS!!!
