Report: Netflix Will Make New Black Mirror Episodes

Normally I wouldn't get too excited about something like this until it became more official, but England's Radio Times is reporting that Netflix will be making new episodes of Black Mirror, the techno-tinged anthological horror/satire from Charlie Brooker that originated on the UK's Channel 4 and was imported by DirecTV in 2013 and Netflix last year. That is fantastic news.

The series, which has only seven episodes under its belt, is like a modern-day Twilight Zone, with each episode focusing on an aspect of technology and then taking you on a mind adventure that will make you want to throw your phone in a lake and never go online again. It's brilliantly demented stuff, laced in biting satire about everything from social media to reality shows to the omnipresence of recorded video.

That Netflix would pick it up to series makes perfect sense, which is why I'm almost ready to call this a done deal even without official word. Black Mirror went largely undiscovered by American audiences for years until it sprung up on Netflix and drew critical praise, and the platform will give Brooker a much larger audience for new works.

If you haven't seen Black Mirror, it's available on Netflix now. Just dive in.

So glad to hear this! I must admit, I live in the country that brought you such brilliantly brain numbing things as The Kardashians and Jerry Springer. Therefore, I'll admit, I didn't know about this until I saw it on Netflix. Black Mirror is proof (and hope) that there continue to be creative and thought provoking people in the entertainment field. Like many others have stated, I hope Netflix won't dumb it down in an effort to reach a broader U.S. market.

This would be so much better than trying to remake it for American audiences. Hope it happens.

Black Mirror is super awesome. Twilight Zone and Outer Limits were my childhood staples. (is that why I am a demented kind of fellow? hrmmm)

I guess it depends whther they can wrestle the rights out of HBO. I was curious what David Fincher would have made out of it, but that's not happening anymore.

Fantastic news. After that fantastic Christmas special last year, I couldn't stop myself from watching the original 2 series.

1. @ TIM I think you mean UK's Radion Times.

2. Please don't go to the US 24 eps format (filler eps)

3. I hope he doesn't stop making his 'Wipe' series yearly reveiws arn't enough! (check them out on YouTube Screen Wipe, Weekly Wipe and Games Wipe for full uncessored Brooker satire)

Radion Times? Nah just messing, UK is more accurate.

No chance of going to a longer format, after all it's not like the series/seasons have overarching stories. Hopefully it just means we get 5-6 episodes in one go but still same quality.

Wipe series is fantastic and people should check it out on youtube, satire at its best.

Yes! Damn typo *'Radio Times' (Blast it! I've typed that word sooooooo many times to get my Dr Who FIX!)

I'm slightly worried about the reports that R.D. Jr has bought some rights cos things never go bad..... ( US Red Dwarf ect, I could go on!)

+ Check out "A Touch of Cloth" you may not get all the gags but still it's his writing and a Dr Who companion does apear later on!

I only just realized Netflix has series 2, so I'm kind of behind. (I saw series 1 on Ch.4 in 2011. I preferred ep. 2 with Daniel Kaluuya over the others.)

I only have a mild like for the series so far, but I'm glad we'll get to see more.

The quality differs from episode to episode but "15 million merits" was amazing enough that I'll keep watching whatever they'll throw at me.

Odd that Channel 4 would let this gem go.

I felt that the show in s1 got better as it went on, but s2 went downhill after the first episode.. but I'm glad they're doing more. I just hope the original team comes over to this and it's not a 'reboot' or 'US version'. Keep as much in tact as possible.

Watched the frist 3 episodes about a year and a half ago, definetly nothing else likte it on tv, good writing and good acting.
A bleak view of the future of social media, reality tv and above all our own ever changing norms and values.
Can't wait for more!

Check out the other episodes, in general I think they are even better. Also the Christmas special last year was brilliant.

Not sure but I heard something about an Easter special a while back. Hopefully that is a thing.

YES!! Great News! it may be only seven episodes (with Jon Hamm in the last one showing good talent outside Mad Man) but they are worth hundreds of episode of many other TV shows. It was a real trip to watch Black Mirror and I so much look forward to Netflix producing more. Thanks Netflix, you are the best.

Season 1 and 2 are already on Netflix, I think they've been there almost a year... the Christmas special isn't up yet, but I'd assume it'll probably be up by Christmas this year though.

Not in my Netflix. I don´t live in USA. I already seen all the 7 original episodes. I was thinking to recommend to someone to watch on Netflix those.

Great news that we'll get new episodes. I am also so glad it will not be an American remake, but a continuation with the same people at the helm.

If you like to be shaken a bit or like your paranoia to be fed, go see it.
