Revenge Has Been Canceled and Will End After Season 4

After four seasons of red Sharpies, Whale Cams, and Gabriel Mann's impeccably dressed Nolan Ross, Emily Thorne's mission in the Hamptons is finally coming to a close. Revenge will end on Sunday, May 10, after the Season 4 finale, TV.com has confirmed.

"We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story,” executive producer Sunil Nayar told Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the cancellation. “We’ve been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale—which is fabulous—everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end. This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks."

[Spoilers for Revenge follow, so don't read if you aren't caught up or care about learning the show's twisty secrets.]

Many fans agree that Season 4—which saw the resurrection of Emily's (Emily VanCamp) presumed dead father, David Clarke (James Tupper)—was a step up from the convoluted mess of Season 2 and the boring arc of Season 3. But the news that the series is ending should come as no surprise to loyal Revenge-rs, as the writers have been laying the groundwork for its conclusion all season long. The death of Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman) last fall and Emily willingly coming out to the world as Amanda Clarke in a recent episode both signaled that this chapter of Emily's life was coming to a close. With the explosion-y death of Victoria Grayson (Madeleine Stowejust last week, the final nail in Revenge's elegantly-designed coffin was hammered into place.

Of course, you could also make the argument that the series could have, or should have, ended after either Season 2 or Season 3 and you'd probably also be right.

Revenge's series finale will air Sunday, May 10 at 10pm on ABC.

Will you miss Revenge? Is this the right time for it to end? And what do you hope to see happen in the series finale?

I was skeptical at first on how long this show could possibly last but as the story developed more It got more interesting and I kind of knew it was going to end soon but considering what happened in last weeks episode I dont know if they could really give it a properly satisfactory ending in only 2 episodes. We'll just have to wait and see.

I hope Victoria finally gets what coming for her and what she deserves. She made have backstabbed David to protect her son. But everything she's done since was just selfishness and pure evil. ( I.E. having Emily brainwashed and Aiden)
Emily deserves a happy ending after everything they have put her through for her entire life.

I read somewhere that Emily VanCamp felt like it should have ended last year and Josh Bowman who played Daniel practically begged to be killed off. He said he couldn't wrap his head around who he was supposed to be in the character.

Mom and I had been struggling to power through the show, the signs were written on the wall that the series was ending, and I'm glad that it's official now. Don't think we could've done another season of it.

Does anyone think it's possible that they might bring back Amanda's mother or *GASP* Charlotte for the series finale?

Sure, we all agree that the series has lost its steam, but I always assumed since David's return that the roles these two characters had to play would become much more significant in the series (and hold a lot more potential than previously) and yet they've both been absent.

Charlotte will back for sure. I think she's in the 5/3 episode. If not, she for sure in the next episode. The actress announced she was back.

From the very beginning about 3 episodes in to season 1 my wife and I said it was a concept better fitted to a mini series (or a movie). We enjoyed it but we couldn't picture it sustaining itself season after season. Some ideas are just better suited to a shorter run with a beginning, a middle, and an end predetermined.

I stopped watching when Margaux decided to get revenge on Emily. The main revenge plot was over by then (about two years too late), and the show had been boring for a while. I think it's a good thing that it's coming to an end, but since they're announcing it now, I think it's too late to give the viewers a good ending. So I think I dropped out just in time.

Not suprising, given they've been wrapping things up left and right.

"Is this the right time for it to end?"

It's long past the right time. Revenge's another in a long list of shows that should have ended properly and untainted earlier, but just dragged on (the creator even left because he wanted to end it and ABC wanted to keep going).

When even fans (like myself) feel that should already have ended, then it is past time for it to go. Goodbye, Revenge. I've enjoyed most of the episodes, but it's time for you to R.I.P.

Should have been a limited series anyway. S1 was terrific, but it never regained momentum. Hope they have a satisfying send off for our girl; I won't like it if she rots in prison. Besides, if this is based on Count of Monte Cristo (as it seemed in S1), there Edmond Dantes gets his revenge and sails off into the sunset; Emily/Amanda should do no less.

It's time. I'll miss seeing Gabriel Mann on my screen though. I also would like to see VanCamp head over to SHIELD, especially if we're going to lose Hunter and Bobbi to a spin-off.

Agree with the majority here that it is time for the show to end. But I'm going to miss Nolan sooooo much! He and his wardrobe are the highlights of this show for me. I hope he gets the happy ending he deserves &3

This season has been a mess. Really Margot is just weak. The red head should have fallen off the cliff with her brother (can't understand why they made her a major character). Gina Torres as Madeline's step mother was interesting. Yet they let that story go. Gina Torres actually had the presence to stand up to the other actors believably. It just seems like they've been treating stories like spitballs and randomly throwing them out to see what sticks.

It's about time. This season was surprisingly good but it's time to go. I'm glad that they get a chance to wrap it all up.

As long as Jack and Emily end up together, I'm good. I'll miss the Nolan/Jack bromance.

See ya Revenge. It's been real.

I'm sure the producers were hoping to reach 5 seasons or100 episodes. The show kinda wen off track. I don' know the introduction of Aidan maybe. It was sad that Daniel Grayson was killed. He finally saw his mother for what she is. I was hoping that he and Emily/Amanda would get back together. It's one of things that shows things are ok. I just don't know how things should end. Some would think she should be with Jack but I didn't think they should be. Maybe Emily should go somewhere and disappear, isn't that the penance for anyone who seeks Revenge.

While the series have been downhill for a while now, it remained my guilty pleasure.

Though I do hope they kill off Margaux in the most bloody way possible. Both the actress and the character are pretty much horrible.

Also Jack's mom, Jack, the boyfriend-turned-detective, the Southern gal and the ghost-writer.

Emily, too. She's gotten fatter or something.

I think it's a perfect time for to end. I mean, she's not Emily Thorne anymore, and that was her identity for "REVENGE", after all. LOL Not much left to tell in this story. Just hope that it doesn't end in a cliffhanger or something, that could hint a season 5. I just hope it actually has a decent conclusion, so it will feel like a Series Finale, instead of a cancellation. lol

As a die hard Revenger that has stuck with all the impeccable turned convoluted story lines over the past 4 years, I am both saddened and happy to see it go. It's just its time and the show had a good run at it and I'd rather see it go down in flames rather than a slow burn. It's what we all wanted. I just hope they wrap it up in a satisfying way.

Agreed with the cancellation word, When I first read the headline I thought I was not going to see a proper ending of this show after four seasons.

Answering the question, I do think it is the proper time for the show to come to an end. Just think that the show was about the rivalry between Victoria and Amanda/Ems, Now that Vic's gone it would be preposterous to keep the shoe on.

Finally it is very funny to me how many people say that they lost the interest in the show after season one but they're posting here. I lost the interest in Dexter after only 8 eps and I don't care if it was ended, cancelled or still on.

I am a fan but after watching this week's MESS, someone do a Victoria explosion on the show please. It's getting really absurd now with plots that would even make Nolan's underwear curl, i.e; if he's even wearing any.

Bye bye Revenge. Let's just hope your finale can make Victoria rise from the ashes with a complete red fiery ensemble.. Make us proud will ya?

To me, I think that it had its amazing run. Loved the concept of this show, but what more can you really write about? Amanda did say that now things can go back to normal for her. I wouldn't have changed anything about the show, four seasons is the right amount of run time.... I will miss seeing them every Sunday nights though.

What I would like to see in the series finale is Jack and Amanda together as it should have been since their childhood, Margeaux and Louise dead (their characters make me nervous), Nolan and the Child Services Guy together (he was dumb to break up with Nolan)... and.... two things with David Clarke: either the cancer takes him (tear jerker, but he watches his daughter from heaven), OR him alive and happy with Stevie Grayson....

When I read the headline my heart skipped a beat. Cancelled after four seasons? That's an investment of four full days of a viewer's life! But luckily "cancellation" in this case meant a planned ending and not one without a proper finish. Jeez, Kaitlin, don't scare us like that! There should be two different words to mean the ending of a TV show; one for a proper "The End", and one for an abrupt cancellation. This is needed since nowadays at least half of the shows meet their ends at the chopping block, and one needs to be able to quickly distinguish between these two types of endings when talking about TV.

Perfect timing! I've been wondering all season if this is the final one. There's no way there should be any more seasons after what's already gone down this season. I kind of want a somewhat "happy" ending for her but at the same time she shouldn't get off scott free with everything she has gotten away with. And I hate the very idea that French chick or crazy chick would be the one to bring Amanda down. I suspect it'll just be a non dead Victoria or someone else from her past. All I really want is happiness for Nolan. Can this guy keep a relationship for once people???!!!
