Ricardo Montalban dead at 88

Actor Ricardo Montalban was well-known for welcoming guests to Nirvana as Mr. Roarke on the late 1970s-early 1980s show Fantasy Island, but today it was he who said farewell. Montalban passed away this morning in Los Angeles of old age.

In addition to his role on Fantasy Island, Montalban enjoyed a splendid film career, battling Captain Kirk in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan as Khan ("Khaaaaaaaaan!"), battling Frank Drebin in The Naked Gun, and doing whatever he did in Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams.

His acting career started in the early 1940s in Mexico, but he eventually joined Hollywood and put together an amazing list of credits, including Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Mission Impossible, I Spy, and Hawaii Five-O Recently, he did voice work for Kim Possible and Family Guy.

Montalban also championed the rights of Latinos, founding the Nosotros Foundation, which aimed to improve the opportunities for Latinos to find work in Hollywood.

Our hearts go out to the Montalban family.

It is nice to hear that you can still die of "old age". What a great way to go, after a full life. I remember when my 98 year old Great Grandmother died - they called it heart failure. As if my Great Grandmothers heart ever failed!!!! She was old, lived a full life and died gracefully in her sleep of old age with a smile on her face. I hope that Ricardo Montalban did as well. RIP

To most animation fans, Ricardo Montalban will always be remembered for his voice role of Senor Senior Senior on Disney's smash animated hit "Kim Possible". He also voiced villain Guitierrez in the animated series "Freakazoid" (remember that animated show?). "Waggytoon"

Smiles, Everyone, Smiles... That's how I think he'd want people to remember him. I really don't think he'd want anyone to be sad about his passing. Hopefully, his own most dear fantasies have now been made real for him, somewhere. He definitely touched a lot of peoples' lives.
