Rick Schroder has joined the cast of the upcoming sixth season of Fox's 24. The actor will play a new Counter Terrorist Unit agent who helps Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) bust terror perps.
Schroder was just a kid when he starred in the hit '80s sitcom Silver Spoons. As an adult, he worked for three seasons on the ABC cop show NYPD Blue and Lifetime's Strong Medicine.
Schroder joins an already impressive roster of big-name character actors who have signed up for the show. Regina King, Powers Boothe, Peter MacNicol, James Cromwell, Chad Lowe, and Kal Penn are several of the actors who will be appearing this next season.
British comedian Eddie Izzard had also been lined up but scheduling conflicts prevented it.
24 returns to Fox on January 14. A trailer is viewable online at the 24 site.

Ricky Schroeder looks great! I LOVE 24...the only show that faces REALITY!!! First Jack Bauer, now Ricky Schroeder, with a kick-ass plot. What more could a girl want????
Ricky Shroder! I could careless about 24.
oh cant wait
I guess anyone can get on 24.
This will be awesome! I can't WAIT till January!
Kas
long live Rick Schroeder woooooo.
He sucks. 24 is republican entertainment; Surnow is creating a "conservative" Daily Show and now Schroder, a bush-ite is joining this garbage.
Great!
He was good on NYPD blue so he should fit this role.
