Former Baretta star Robert Blake was recently acquitted for the murder of his wife, Bonnie Lee Bakeley. However, E! Online reports that if his trial had gone further, he had planned on asking many of his actor friends to testify on his behalf.
Up first on his list was Love Boat captain Gavin MacLeod. It seems Blake must have hoped the jury would fall in love with an innocent verdict. Also in the offing was Bionic Woman Lindsay Wagner and Suzanne Pleshette, of The Bob Newhart Show.
Blake also bandied about the names of many A-list celebrities, including Alec Baldwin, John Travolta, Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner, and Sean Penn.
