Nottingham Forest's famed hero is joined by two new maidens later this year when Robin Hood returns for its third series. Life on Mars actress Joanne Frogatt and television newcomer Lara Pulver will join the cast as new girls Kate and Isabella respectively.
"Joining the ranks of Robin Hood has been so much fun," proclaimed Frogatt, who joins Robin Hood’s team as fiesty character Kate. "Kate's a tomboy with a big and fearless heart, but soon it's a question of who will win her undivided love and attention," she explained in a statement.
Also appearing in the new series is Guy of Gisborne's younger sister Isabella, played by Pulver, who causes complications for the team with her spirited, misbehaving ways.
Richard Armitage, David Harewood and Keith Allen will all return to the show with Jonas Armstrong reprising his lead role again, this time as a tougher Robin Hood hell bent on avenging his wife's tragic death.
"It's great to bring Robin back a darker, more mature hero and fans will see that once he's come to terms with his personal loss, he's a stronger more powerful force than ever before," Armstrong said.
The thirteen-part series, which promises to be “bigger, bolder and more action-packed than before”, will form part of the BBC's spring drama schedule alongside new series’ of Torchwood and Ashes to Ashes.
