As mortician Frederico Diaz in Six Feet Under, actor Freddy Rodriguez dug into corpses that had been killed in grisly ways. In Rodriguez's next role, he may simply be locking lips with someone who has been beaten by the proverbial ugly stick.
Rodriguez has signed on to join the cast of the ABC hit comedy Ugly Betty, says The Hollywood Reporter. He'll play Gio, a regular Joe who mans the sandwich cart in the office where Betty (America Ferrera) works, and is slated to be Betty's love interest in the second season of the show.
The Chicago-born actor was nominated for a best supporting actor Emmy in 2002 for Six Feet Under, and was most recently seen building machine gun-outfitted leg prosthetics in Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse.
