Kevin McKidd, who plays Roman centurion Lucius Vorenus on the HBO drama Rome, will step into NBC's time-travel pilot Journeyman.
The NBC series follows a man who can travel back in time to "fix" people's lives. Sometimes, he inadvertently alters the future.
On Rome, McKidd's Vorenus is a moral soldier who falls from grace after the death of Caesar. The HBO/BBC series ends its run at the conclusion of the current season.
McKidd will be seen in the upcoming films Hannibal Rising and The Last Legion. He has appeared in the 1996 cult film Trainspotting and the werewolf actioner Dog Soldiers.

He is a solid actor and was awesome in Rome, so this is a must see for me.
He was great in Rome, so I'll have to check this out.
jaspio, you are crazy, Dude!
McKidd's past performances and roles are varied, and he has a very impressive range - including a beautiful singing voice.
He is excellent as our stoic Centurian, but he is far from limited to that kind of role. Have you seen his other work?
As good as McKidd was in playing Vorenus, McKidd only shines when playing stoic and sombre characters. (Just see soldiers scene in Hannibal Rising).I very much doubt he can carry the burden of lead character for the new series. (Be honest, Pullo, Marcus Antonio and Julies Caesar (and Attia) really made you want to watch the "Rome").p.s. this editing mode sux ;P
The Rome series has been terrific. McKidd has proven that he can act as a man out of his time. Writing will be very important to this new project. This new genre can get hookie very quickly.
That's nice :)
I am interested to see where this series will go.
Interesting. I'll definitely have to check it out, if only because he's so great as Vorenus.I wonder what accent he'll be using for this new show. He uses an English accent in Rome, but in reality he's EXTREMELY Scottish. Perhaps he'll be an American this time around.
I want to hear more about this show before I either add it to my list or mock it shamelessly.
Sounds like a mash between Quantum Leap & Doctor Who...
This show sounds like it may be goos may have too check this out
McKidd is a great actor, love his work in Rome. I had previously planned to pass on this show, too much like Quantum Leap and Time Cop, but will probably check it out noe.
Anything with McKidd is worth watching.
as freaksngeeks already said: he'll always be Vorenus to me...
Many have mentioned Quantum Leap, but time travel is really a genre at this point (HG Wells, Quantum Leap, Voyagers, Dr. Who, 7 Days..) so this isn't really a remake or rip-off. And good for NBC, better this than another so called reality or un-scripted show. At least something like this might actually make people use that lump that's 3 feet above their butts.
Sounds like another Quantum Leap and it seems that NBC after the ratting hit of Heroes, NBC is going into SF shows.
I am looking foward to this. I like the show description and I know if any actor is right for the job it's Kevin McKidd.
well quantum leap didn't have a tense little time bomb as the lead. maybe it'll be like star trek with a lot of fights.
Didn't "Quantum Leap" cover this territory aleady?
Great to see McKidd get something new -- he's great in Rome.On the other hand, I'd really like to see how different this show will be to the classic "Quantum Leap". "Follows a man who can travel back in time to "fix" people's lives." -- where I have heard that before :)
He'll always be Vorenus to me
Awesome! Love the McKidd! Really looking forward to this pilot.
