Roseanne Barr Claims "Planet of the Apes" Tweet Was About Anti-Semitism

Despite it being the cause of her downfall, Roseanne Barr is unable to stay away from Twitter, and she went on a tweetstorm Wednesday night where she claimed, among other things, that her tweet comparing former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, a black woman, to a character from Planet of the Apes was actually about "the anti semitism of the Iran deal" and not an expression of racism.

Barr's claim is a stretch at best, and is probably more accurately characterized as a lie. Barr denies that she's ever "practiced 'RACISM,'" but the overt racism of the original tweet -- "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj" -- is what got Roseanne canceled.

She also gave an update on what she's been up to since her show was canceled -- "planting trees digging in the earth singing and feeling a great deal of relief" -- and thanked some friends who are helping her through her troubled time, including conservative news host Sean Hannity, comedian and Roseanne writer Norm Macdonald and Rosie O'Donnell, whom Barr said shows "support and love and understanding even when we disagree!"

Finally, she said she's "developed a bit of palsy in my head and hands due to the stress I have lived thru" and that she's sleeping a lot without Ambien, the prescription sleep aid she said she was under the influence of when she sent her racist tweet.

Her full tweetstorm is below.

ABC is reportedly considering a Roseanne spin-off focused on Sara Gilbert's character that would not include Barr.

She was a pariah for years due in part to her outspoken nature. Her show got cancelled cause she can't shut up...and she still goes on and on.

Her show got cancel because she attacked someone on theLeft. If she had said the same tpe thing about Ms. Trump or someone else on the Right she would still be on the air.

Even so, she's a ticking time bomb for offending someone, anyone. I don't care whether it's left, right or center..she is her own worse enemy.

True but ABC, CBS, NBC and most of the other TV networks do care if the person who is attacked is on the Left or Right and that is where the real problem is. People like Barr see those who attack Christians and people on the Rights and get praised by their peers and the press and win awards so they feel that it is safe to attack anyone. They then get hit upside the head by the PC police and are not bright enough to understand what happen. The people continue watching the networks so they suffer no consequences for their support of attacks on Christians and those on the Right.

If she and all the others would just be quiet and stay off of any social media the snowflakes and Millennials will forget anything you said or did once the next event happen. But some people just seems to have to be in the news rather it is positive or negative. There could be a bright spot to this if you can get Sean Hannity and Rosie O’Donnell in the same camp working for the same cause maybe there is hope that one day the Democrats and Republicans could put aside their party’s power grabs and work for what best for the American people.

Okay so we have a better chance of a Hannity/O’Donnell love fest than we do of the Democrats and Republicans putting aside their party’s power grabs and working for what best for the American people.
The solution is a three party system. If you are a Conservative, Christian or Constitutionalists there is the Constitution Party http://www.constitutionparty.com/ If you are a Progressives, Liberal, Communist, Socialist or Environmentalist there is the Green Party http://www.gp.org/ If you are one of those who don’t have the courage the stand up for what you believe and hide behind the term moderate there is the Libertarian Party https://www.lp.org/
We know longer have to learn in fear of or be controlled by the two party system. All we have to do is break the chain.

Barr once run as Presidential candidate for the Green Party. That's probably not a recommendation for them. ;)

The problem with people that have to be in the news is that they have enablers: the news. Ms. Barr has been nuts for a long time. It's not "news" that she keeps saying nutty things.

They have other enablers. I know I should not still be dumbfound but it still dumbfound me how so many people will listen to celebrities and their point of view on anything. They live such an elitist out of touch lives. I guess it is my age but I will never understand following celebrities on Twitter.

If articles like this one didn't print what they said on Twitter, 90% of the people who are complaining probably wouldn't know about it. Or they'd hear about it from the people who saw it on Twitter.

But why was the article printed in the first place? :)

Everyday working people follow them because of articles like this. The news enables Barr, saying that her comments are part of "real life".

it's a vicious cycle. People think that it's "news" and "real life" because news writers say that it is. They say that it is to get more viewers. Barr (and celebrities in general) in part says it because she knows the news will broadcast it, and people will think that it is important.

News articles, and tabloids, and award ceremonies, and talk shows, and celebrities themselves, are all part of the celebrity-following culture. There are plenty of "high IQ" people who care what people like Jimmy Kimmel and Robert DeNiro and Alyssa Milano say.

I understand why the article would print the Twitters they are part of the story. What I don't understand is why the everyday working person follow these celebrities or even care what their point of views on anything is. They are out of touch with real life and most are on the low end of the IQ range.
