SAG Awards announced

The Screen Actors Guild announced its nominations for The 13th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards today. The list is populated by stalwarts such as Sopranos star James Gandolfini, and new faces like Grey's Anatomy actress Chandra Wilson.

Patricia Arquette (NBC's Medium) and Edie Falco (HBO's The Sopranos) head up the best dramatic actress nominations. Kyra Sedgwick also got a nod for her work in TNT's The Closer.

Dramatic actor nods went to usual suspects Gandolfini and 24's Kiefer Sutherland. Michael C. Hall was nominated for his role in Showtime's Dexter.

NBC trio Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Steve Carell (The Office), and Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) lead the comedy actor category. Newbie America Ferrerra is up for her role in ABC's Ugly Betty.

Up for best drama ensemble is the perennially tense cast of Fox's 24 and the crusty cowboys of HBO's Deadwood. In the comedy ensemble category, the ladies and gents of Desperate Housewives are up against those rascally ne'er-do-wells from HBO's Entourage and the Dunder-Mifflin sales force of The Office.

Watch the awards live on TBS, Sunday, January 28. For a full list, check out The SAG site.

I wish that Christopher Meloni of Law and Order: SVU was nominated for best actor. But I am still happy that Mariska Hargitay got nominated though :)

I'm sad to see that CSI was not on the list this year for Drama ensemble cast. They are consistently good in this area. Perhaps it was because (in my opinion) Season 6 was not as strong as other years, but the actors/characters still mesh well together.

Boston Legal totally deserves it. I'm not a big drama fan, but their cast is superb.

Ian McShane should have been nominated for Best Dramatic Actor over James Spader. Don't get my wrong, I love his character, Alan Shore, but his performance wasn't as good as it was in Season One of Boston Legal.

Lost should be in for Drama instead of Boston Legal.

I love 24, but if I had a vote it would go to Deadwood for drama ensemble and Ian McShane for dramatic actor - if he had been nominated. Its a crying shame the show got cancelled but I guess when each episode costs more than $5 (yes, 5!!) million to make it can only last so long.

Nominations look good, no one that I care about was left off except Christopher Meloni for Law and order: SVU.
