When he's not whipping up one-liners for the Late Show with David Letterman 's nightly Top Ten list (or tweeting), TV writer Steve Young posts quips and self-proclaimed "mediocre photos" on his behind-the-scenes blog, CelebriGum.
Young writes on his blog:
"In the foreground of each shot is a wad of old gum I noticed on the window ledge. There may be better paparazzi photos on the internet, but this is the only place you'll find the juxtaposition of celebrities and hardened gum."
Apparently the Harvard Lampoon alum and former Simpsons scribe is a man of his word. The pics, taken from a second-floor window in the Ed Sullivan Theater, are nothing short of a waste of a perfectly capable smartphone camera, but Young at least proves his writing skills with the accompanying captions.
Check out a few of Young's despicable photos and their respective captions below, and see the rest here.
Ed Helms, Thursday, April 7, 2011: CelebriGum is pleased to feature its first backpack-wearing celebrity! Mr. Helms is charmingly unpretentious. However, the increasingly heavy backpacks carried by today's celebrities can lead to back pain and poor posture, according to the American Celebrity Chiropractic Association. Celebrities are encouraged to follow these backpack guidelines:
* Be sure your backpack weighs no more than 10% of your celebrity body weight.
* Choose a backpack with wide, padded straps, and always wear both straps when traveling to talk show appearances, award shows, and gala premieres.
* If the backpack is too heavy, talk to your manager or agent about which Emmys or Oscars, large stacks of cash, or other celebrity items could be left at home.
Be safe, Ed! A reminder from your friends at CelebriGum.
Willie Nelson, Monday, April 11, 2011: You may notice that the gum seems unusually giddy. That's because when Willie opened the door to exit his tour bus, twenty yards downwind the gum got a contact high.
Amy Poehler, Friday, March 18, 2011: In her excitement over arriving at the Late Show, the delightful Ms. Poehler accidentally left her Show & Tell item in the car. She ended up just describing the severed human hand she'd purchased at a morgue rummage sale.
