Seven unveils 7TWO digital channel

Seven has announced the details of its new digital channel called 7TWO which begins broadcasting next month and will feature a mix of new run series and "old favourites".

7TWO will begin broadcasting on 1 November 2009 on digital channel 72 (Seven Two, geddit?) and will be the first place to see the new series of Ugly Betty, Heroes, Lost and 24.

The channel will also offer the "very best of British television" from popular shows such as A Touch of Frost and Prime Suspect to premiere episodes of Gavin and Stacey, Heartbeat and more.

There will be themed nights such as Action & Adventure, Lifestyle and Movies, and cooking programs from the likes of Jamie Oliver and Curtis Stone.

In addition to the channel's programming, Seven also announced Tom Williams (The Great Outdoors, Dancing with the Stars) as the "face" of 7TWO.

"What I love about 7TWO is the great mix of the new and classic. I'm a big Leno fan so it will be great to be able catch that on a daily basis. And I can't wait to see how the last season of Lost unravels," said Williams.

While Nine is rumoured to be courting Top Gear, 7TWO will broadcast the "other" UK motoring show Fifth Gear.

Seven has been running a teaser all week on channel 72 with echoes of Gough Whitlam: "It's Time".

I've gotta say I'm not all that impressed from what I've heard so far about this channel and it has a very odd name. ABC and SBS can get away with just ABC2 and SBS Two respecfully but 7Two isn't a good name to say the least.

At least we'll get the next season of 24 earlier then it would be on normal 7 but just like Lost and 24 this year I hope that they don't put them in the ridiculous time slots of 10.30pm or later.

I wish they'd put 30 Rock in a earlier timeslot - it's such a great series, and it deserves more viewers.

They don't need a 'face', especially not Tom Williams. The stations have too much ego-centric self promotions and don't get me started on the profusion of ads - we just want to see the show!

Tom Williams can be the face of the station, but let's hope not the voice.

Doesn't sound like this channel will have much that I'd want to watch so probably won't waste my time on it - And as for the last series of LOST that doesn't start in the U.S. until late Jan\early Feb next year and there's no way we'll get it before then so I don't know why Tom Williams is so excited about it.

And "susanai" the channel should automatically appear on your HDD or set top box from 1 November if it isn't there already.

I have read the instructions from everywhere on how to get this but still don't understand them. Wish someone would pretend I am an alien and do a step by step instruct.
