Sex may be new reality for HBO

HBO may revisit Sex and the City, only this time it is the real thing.

The premium cable channel is finalizing a deal for an unscripted comedy pilot described as "an attempt to capture the vivacity, sexuality and friendship of women in a big city under the banner of a reality show," sources said. It comes from Sex and the City coproducer and writer Amy Harris.

It is unclear where or when HBO will shoot the pilot. HBO declined comment.

The pilot order is a rarity for a network that leans heavily on scripted comedies, dramas, and longform projects. But HBO has dabbled in some reality series in recent years, including Family Bonds and Project Greenlight.

Sex, which featured a quartet of women navigating social and romantic challenges in Manhattan, ran from 1998-2004.

Harris previously wrote for HBO's short-lived Lisa Kudrow series The Comeback. She also cowrote the upcoming Lindsay Lohan movie Just My Luck.

Oh... and one other thing-If Harris is a woman-perhaps she thinks like a man-or has become a man in order to survive in a 'Man's World'.
How about celebrating what truly makes women different from men.As far as I can see as I travel this country and observe 20-something women- we are travelling back in time to the 1950's Eisenhower period- only difference being:there is 'some' awareness of women's rights. Some!
It is still a Man's World(esp in the very -male -dominated world that is the entertainment biz), and as such I feel certain that Ms.Harris is writing for the perceived market.
In effect-writing/creating for the 'pay-off'.
Until writer/creators start thinking less like prostitutes and more like artist/creators- we will continue to see this predictable trend that is 'more of the same'.
Who has the chutzpah to create a truly original "Reality" tv show(if that is the only thing networks/prod.co's wish to finance)?
Any courageous writers out there willing to challenge the status quo?
How bout a show where young women who are addicted to shopping have their credit cards confiscated for 6 months?

Yeah-well...From the minds of babes- No, not babes - as in sexy women. From the juvenile minds of males trapped inside the body/brain of eternal 16 year olds.
Come-on,I think we all know that this is just the first step to legitimize porn.My question to the emotionally stunted minds that thought this idea up and green lighted the project is this:
Do you really want to encourage more voyeurism, keep sexuality at a primitive level, and further alienate both sexes?[I can assure you I am not on the 'Christian Right'-nor am I a prude].
How bout a reality show about?...hmmm, this idea is too good-think I'll keep it to myself.
Wake up time kiddies!
