Shameless is being adapted for US TV,
with William H Macy leading the cast
The premium cable channel said it ordered 12 episodes of the show about a Chicago blue-collar family.
The executive producers are the drama's original creator, Paul Abbott, and John Wells, whose credits include ER and The West Wing.
Allison Janney, of The West Wing, will have a recurring role.
Macy's films include Fargo and The Cooler, while Rossum starred in The Phantom of the Opera.
Production begins late this summer. An air date was not announced.
