Before America goes all nutty over tonight's crowning of America's next American Idol, let's take a second to congratulate another reality-show winner. ABC's Dancing With the Stars wrapped up its eighth cycle last night, and the difference between first and second place was miniscule.
Shawn Johnson, who spent last summer charming America as a gold-medal-winning gymnast in Beijing, once again sparkled and was named the champion of Dancing With the Stars. The 17-year old scored a perfect 30 in her final routine with pro partner Mark Ballas.
But she wasn't the only one who scored a perfect 30; her competition came in the form of smooth-strutting Frenchman Gilles Marini. In the end, voters gave the nod to Johnson by less than one percent of the votes, according to the show's host, Tom Bergeron.
Congratulations to Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas!
