The actor, who is celebrating a decade in the soap, told the Mirror: "I love playing him and I don't see why I couldn't be here in another 10 years.

"By then he could own the Rovers or Underworld, or be an out-and-out thug - it could go either way."

Since joining Corrie as a fresh-faced 12-year-old, Jack has seen David involved in a host of dramatic storylines, including being driven into a canal by an evil stepdad, pushing his mum down the stairs and causing his niece to take ecstasy.

Despite his love of his job, the 22-year-old admitted he doesn't have much fondness for his character.

He said: "David's an idiot! I wouldn't be his friend. I wouldn't give him the time of day."
