Show 101: Heroes

SHOW: Heroes

NOW SHOWING: Season 4 premieres Monday, September 21 at 8 pm

AIRS: Monday at 8 pm, NBC

WHY YOU MIGHT LOVE IT:

Because the super sexy characters have awe-inspiring superhuman powers -- the death-defying Claire (Hayden Panettiere), the time-traveling Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) -- and the story will always leave you guessing.

WHY YOU MIGHT HATE IT:

The plotlines can be overly complex, making it impossible to jump in at random episodes. Even some fans even have a hard time keeping all the stories straight.

THE PREMISE:

Remember wanting to fly when you were little? Imagine finding out one day that you could. Or that you could freeze whatever you touched. Or that you couldn't die. Heroes indulges every one of those childhood fantasies in a manga-style science-fiction drama with an extensive cast of misunderstood characters, all of whom are struggling to understand their powerful place in the world. The characters began to discover their extraordinary powers in Season 1, and since then they have struggled to understand why they have these abilities and what they're meant to do.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

After three seasons of touched-by-God syndrome -- during which the heroes ran wild with their powers -- the characters are coming back down to Earth and trying their damnedest to lead normal lives. Claire (Hayden Panettierre) is going off to college. Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) is going back to work as a paramedic. But the heroes can't escape their destinies. The challenges they face in Season 4 will likely be the biggest ones yet, thanks to the casting of Prison Break and Carnivale star Robert Knepper as the villainous Samuel Sullivan.

I'm not giving up yet, but I must say last season was completely disappointing to me. I'll give them one more shot. I used to love this show, the 2 first seasons were awesome.

They should have allowed Sylar to have a glorious exit. Tracy had her glorious exit, but they had to bring her back when nobody expected her anymore. I agree with DizzyRose, both should be written out for good ASAP.

Yeah.. This season is my last chance for this show. I stopped watching during the middle part of last season and only read episode summaries and saw bits and pieces of a few later episodes, and I never missed an episode of season 1 & 2.. It was really that bad for me. This season is automatically starting on a bad note by keeping many of the horrible stories of last season. Hopefully they write out some of these ridiculous plots (Sylar as Nathan, Tracy back.. AGAIN) ASAP.

I heard a rumor that they plan on letting Hiro die of a disease this season. Knowing this my expectations are pretty low. Also I'm still not happy that Peters power are still limited. Overall I'm very disappointed in the abilities of the writers of this show. Wake me up when Chuck starts....

please explain why the show isn't awful. they don't know how to use tiem travel correctly. they still have ali larter on the show. sylar is now nathan? and every character goes from good to bad to good to bad to good to bad. and josh you go watch your cop shows i"ll be watching shows whose writers didn't completely trash.

What's really pissing me off is that every time they flesh the show out with new amazing characters in a season/volume, by the end they kill them all off. I thought it was a weird anomally when they killed off Bob, Maury Parkman, Adam, then wrote out Maya and then killed off Elle at the end of volume 3 eliminating all the season 2 character that mattered. But then they also killed off most of the people introduced in volume 3, thankfully keeping Daphne... and then the killed her off in volume 4. Now it looks like they'll be killing off Danko early into 5. I mean, I love the core cast as much as anyone, but LOST proved there's nothing wrong with new original characters, not everything needs to be so rooted in the original season 1 cast. Imagine the creators of LOST pulled that BS with Desmond, Ben, or Juliete? Bad chicken. Secondly the characters they do keep need to start becoming more 3d and less cartoon-like. Season 1 they were written really well, but it seems like any growth and progression of character seems to reverse at the end of a volume. I mean, did it make any sense for Sylar to turn back into a compulsive killer after he got his ability under control? Anyway, this season looks awesome and I hope the quality level keeps up, Villains started on a high note, Fugitives closed with one, it just blew in between. I hope they don't make the same mistakes with Redemption. Also I really look forward to seeing Robert Knepper tear up the screen as Samuel, he'll be great. Though I also think they should try and invest in Wentworth Miller as a villain next.

I am excited to see more new episodes, but i still believe the Heroes writers better plan the end of the this season as the last considering the show is in a rival time slot with House and the smaller Fan-Base.

I used to love watching heroes but last season was kinda lame because it had no action and excitement but I still watched 'cos you know it's Heroes.
I'm hoping for more thrills this season can't wait.

VenomRitual... taste is subjective and a matter of opinion. I still love Heroes, despite all of it's shortcomings. I can't wait for the new season to kick off. Peter Petrelli is going to rule once again!

I love Heroes. I'm pretty much obsessed with the show, and the characters, and the plot. I love that it's ridiculously complicated. So many people are criticizing the show for various reasons, be it writing or acting or anything else. But I will always be a loyal fan. I have nothing to complain about, except Ali Larter. Love her, but she needs to stay dead. Honestly.

I'm still sticking with the show, unfortunately I have a feeling that this will be its last season. Due to some bad writing and poor plots most fans have bailed out so I don't expect the ratings to go up.

I don't know when will it be broadcasted in my country, but when it is I'll give it a try to the new season. Although the second was awful and boring, the third one was more interesting.

After the debacle that was Season 2 and the overall lackluster performance of Season 3; hopefully this season doesn't fail to impress.
