SHOW: Human Target
PREMIERES: Season 2 premieres Wednesday, November 17 at 8pm on Fox.
THE PREMISE: Based on the comic of the same name, Human Target centers on Christopher Chance (Mark Valley), a man who assumes the identity of clients who are in danger in order to deflect whatever threat they're under. He's the ultimate bodyguard and fix-it man, a chiseled dude willing to put everything on the line to help those in need. Chance works with two partners: Winston (Chi McBride), an ex-detective, and Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley), a tech guy with connections to the underworld.
WHY YOU MIGHT LIKE IT: Human Target pumps with the blood of classic 1980s Die Hard-ish action flicks. Expect flying fists, twirling roundhouse kicks, and guns, guns, guns. Few shows on TV put the kind of time into stunts and fight scenes that Human Target does, and the over-the-top nature of the show's scenarios makes for one hell of a ride. Bring yo' popcorn! And let's be honest here, anything with Chi McBride is at least worth a glance. It's a fun show that doesn't take itself too seriously.
WHY YOU MIGHT HATE IT: Things can get slightly formulaic in between fisticuffs (Who is the double-crosser? Who can be trusted?). You also have to be pretty comfortable with suspending belief: Chance, as bad-ass as he is, routinely does things like take out half an army with only a skinned knee to show for it.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: After a series of case-of-the-week episodes, things got heavy as Chance's past started catching up with him. In the Season 1 finale, we discovered the origin of Chance and his crew and held our breaths during a whopper of a cliffhanger: Masked men held everyone captive and questioned Chance about an important book from a previous client. The captors took off with Winston as their prisoner, leaving Chance and his former employer Joubert to re-team and track down Winston's kidnappers.
WHAT'S IN STORE: The big addition for Season 2 is new character Ilsa Pucci (Indira Varma), a widowed billionaire who finances Chance and his crew. How will Chance, Winston, and Guerrero react to a new boss?
