AIRS: Sleep With Me one-off drama premieres on ITV1 at 9pm on New Year's Eve.
WHY YOU MIGHT LOVE IT: There's nothing quite like it on TV at the moment, nor has there been for a very long time. It's a dark story that, though awkward at times, compels you to watch.
WHY YOU MIGHT HATE IT: Certainly not a feel-good show, the one-part thriller is an uncomfortable ride that will have you intentionally cringing throughout.
THE PREMISE: As the title suggests Sleep With Me is not one to watch with the parents. Based on Joanna Briscoe's novel of the same name this dark, steamy thriller tells the tale of a couple unwittingly caught up in a sexual game of betrayal. Though Richard (Hustle's Adrian Lester) and Lelia (Emma's Jodhi May) initially appear to be a happy couple some seemingly chance encounters with a mysterious French woman (Hotel Babylon's Anamaria Marinca) soon changes all of this. Both become obsessed with her as she weaves her way into their increasingly complicated lives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The show is created by Andrew Davies', one of Britain's busiest adapters of period novels--including Little Dorrit, Bleak House and Sense and Sensibility--and as with many of his previous work Sleep With Me is a sexually charged adaptation that leaves little to the imagination.
