Human FBI agent Erica and and her son Tyler are on the left; V Queen Anna and her daughter Lisa are on the right. This is definitely one of those super-fake "Pleased to meet you!" "No, the pleasure's all mine!" sort of situations.
SHOW: V
PREMIERES: Tuesday, January 4 at 9:00 pm on ABC
THE PREMISE: Twenty-nine spaceships have parked above every major city on Earth, like giant, stretched-out mirror balls in the sky. They're helmed by the Visitors, an alien race that looks human on the outside and is led by a very pretty queen named Anna. Some people believe Anna's claims of coming in peace, and they can't get enough of her promises to cure all of mankind's ills. Others, not so much: A resistance effort known as the Fifth Column is working in secret to prevent the Vs from carrying out whatever evil plans the Vs have really come to Earth to achieve.
WHY YOU MIGHT LIKE IT: The Visitors are the evil alien invaders you just can't help but love. Most of them are more beautiful than any of us (until their skin comes off and you see their reptilian innards). Queen Anna is not only gorgeous, she's super-strong-willed; name me another race of evil aliens managed by a woman? The Vs are cagey, shrouded in mystery, and never appear to become ill. V received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series.
WHY YOU MIGHT HATE IT: The Visitors eat, breathe, and walk surrounded by so much CGI that at times it feels hard to connect with their scenes. And though I love watching the two moms at the center of the show demonstrate a parent's passion for her kids, you have to ask, "Where are the fathers?" Father Jack Landry, who's one of the key Fifth Columnists, is such a wet character that you may lose interest in whether he lives or dies.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: The show's main Fifth Column group is led by FBI agent Erica Evans, who was shocked to learn early in Season 1 that her partner of many years was an embedded V in disguise. Erica's son Tyler is in love with Lisa, who's not only a V but the daughter of Queen Anna herself. Anna has co-opted a leading human news anchor—Chad Decker—to be her propaganda tool, which she accomplished by tricking him into thinking she has saved him from terminal illness. At the end of the first season, Erica found her way onto the V mothership and launched a grenade into a huge chamber full of Anna's eggs, appearing to destroy them all.
Season 2 is set to reveal more about why the Visitors are here on Earth. We already know that peace is really the last thing on their minds, and that Jane Badler will return to reprise her role as Queen Diana from the original 1983 miniseries—yes, the one that made her famous for appearing to eat a hamster whole. Rumor has it that Diana is Anna's mother, and that she's been kept prisoner by Anna in a part of the mothership tricked out to resemble their home planet. Evil never looked so much fun.
Here's a long-but-thorough Season 1 "V-cap" to help you catch up. Bonus: There's a Season 2 preview at the end.

I can't believe this show can not be watched online, anywhere. Somehow this crappy show has become appointment television! well done WB.
I still can't believe this show was chosen over Flash Forward... I think the network will very much regret it as. Bringing back Jane Adler is the kind of desperate move that still won't save the show -- it'll guarantee that a few more fans of the original series tune in, but those that haven't already had the original series ruined for them by this drivel will tune out pretty quickly again, I'm sure. To be sure, there will be those that insist on seeing the show play out (if it lasts to the end of this season), kind of like insisting you finish that third, fourth, or fifth season of Heroes, but still.
You sure? Maybe she's reprising her role, but in an alternate timeline. Obviously she couldn't reprise her role in the same timeline, because we probably wouldn't fall for the "we are of peace" line if this were the second visit.
again, i've posted this elsewhere when reviewers get their facts wrong, Jane Badler does not, repeating that...does NOT, reprise her role from the original 1980s mini-series & television show, this character, this Diana, is a different character as are the aliens in this show.
Thank you, TimSpot. :) I am still wondering why it even expired!
Video fixed!
Um, the video expired?
I hope they kill Taylor character he's so childish and annoying! Looks like the new scientist dude got potential and Anna's moms' going to make things interesting. The series in general is not too bad but that great either.
This show is reasonably entertaining. It's nowhere near the quality of shows like Fringe and Supernatural, but it keeps me interested enough to keep tuning in.
Bring FlashFoward back damn it!
i just saw the whole season in the past 4 days and it is great, i loved it, great show.
I was one of those fans that stopped watching Season 1. I was watching on the Syfy channel the original V mini-series. Jane Badler and Marc Singer should add some spice into the mix. I will try to watch the first episode of Season 2 for the above reason--to watch Jane Badler and Marc Singer. If they cannot make this Season 2 as good as the mini-series, then I will stop watching all together. Funny how the 1983's V had less money and high-tech and still can be incredibly good. It must be the acting skills.
should be interresting, and i hope it will be better than s1
@marioni211 You said it!
Why you might like it: Queen Anna is a supermodel with a big booty. Why you might hate it: Everything else sucks.
I hope it is better or else I will drop it! I still prefer 1980/80s version better.
Wow, this show is Awesome and the new season looks like its off to a great start!!! Can't wait to see Jane Badler, she looked perfect for the role of Anna's Queen Mother!
V! is awesome! very excited about this season. How it gets another.
V is great fun with a perfect blend of sci-fi, action and drama. I can't wait for V's triumphant return!
