Smallville to get wrath of Cain

A handful of actors have had the privilege to play the role of Superman over the years, but few have shared the screen with each other. Smallville, the show that portrays Superman as he comes of age, is doing its best to change that.

The late Christopher Reeve, who played the Man of Steel in the four Superman movies of the 1970s and 1980s, was a guest star on the CW show on two episodes. The actor played Dr. Virgil Swann in 2003 and 2004, only months before he passed away.

Now Smallville is bringing on another former Superman for a brief appearance in the program. Dean Cain, who played the caped one in the TV show Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman during its run in the 1990s, will be a guest star in the drama's upcoming season.

The news was announced briefly at this year's Comic-Con, the details being that Cain would play a villain in the fourth episode of the seventh season. Variety now reports that he'll play a character named Dr. Curtis Knox.

Elsewhere, Linda Park will join the cast of Women's Murder Club as a regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Women's Murder Club debuts on ABC this fall and follows a group of ladies who work together to solve crimes. Park is best known as Lieutenant Hoshi Sato in Enterprise, a Star Trek spin-off, and will replace Elizabeth Ho as a deputy district attorney.

Veteran actor Bruce McGill will join the cast of Bionic Woman as a man who oversees the top-secret "Bionic Project." McGill has had several stints on television shows and films dating back to the late 1970s. Bionic Woman debuts on NBC this fall.

I loved "Lois and Clark..." and Smallville is excellent so I can't wait to see this episode! It would be better if he had a recurring role though. Can't wait for season 7, has anyone seen any spoilers?

It will be strange to see Dean as the bad guy. I have his Superman image embedded in my mind, but I'll wait up and see. It might be good. I liked more the idea of him being a love interest for Lois as it was rumored back in season 5. It would have been an awesome crossover moment.

i'm not really a Smallville fan, but I love Dean Cain (Lois $ Clark is my all-time favorite series) so I'd be interested to see how he fares as a villian. Is there such a thing as a sexy villian?

Dean Cain's awesome. Too bad they couldn't give him a James Marsters size role as a villain. Mongol would've been a sweet character to pit Clark against.

I love the fact that Smallville appreciates and recognizes past Superman actors and gives them guest appearances on the show. I have always liked Dean Cain and looked forward to seeing him on Smallville, my all time favorite series.
