SNL Head Writer Colin Jost to Replace Seth Meyers on "Weekend Update"

Saturday Night Live head writer Colin Jost will replace Seth Meyers as the co-anchor of "Weekend Update" in March after Meyers leaves to take over Late NightDeadline reports.

Jost will make his debut on the March 1 episode of SNL alongside Cecily Strong behind the "Weekend Update" desk. (Strong was added as co-anchor this season as the first part of Meyer's transition.)

Jost, a Harvard alum, joined SNL in 2005 at age 22, and was promoted to head writer in 2012. Some of the sketches he's written recently include the 50 Shades of Grey screen test, the "We Did Stop" government shutdown music video, and the opening sketch with Kerry Washington that criticized the show's lack of black female cast members.
