Sobbing Paris thrown back in slammer

A judge ordered a weeping and trembling Paris Hilton back to jail Friday to finish a sentence for probation violation, overturning a sheriff's decision to let the celebrity heiress serve out her time under home arrest.

Hilton, 26, was led out of the Los Angeles courtroom wailing, "Mom, Mom. It's not right," as she was driven away to serve the remainder of a 45-day sentence for violating her probation imposed for a reckless driving conviction.

It was not immediately clear exactly how many days Hilton, who has has become a symbol America's celebrity culture, would serve.

She had been removed from jail for unspecified medical reasons on Thursday and transferred to house arrest, where she was ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device on her ankle.

She had served only three days of an expected 23-day sentence for violating her probation by driving her Bentley on a suspended license.

The decision caused national outrage and accusations of favorable treatment, although Hilton's original sentence was considered by many to be excessively harsh for the crime.

The slender, blond Hilton, dressed in drab gray sweatpants a far cry from her usual designer fashions, shook and cried quietly throughout the brief hearing but broke into sobs when the judge ordered her back behind bars.

Celebrity Web site TMZ.com said Hilton's lawyer was planning to appeal her sentence as soon as possible.

She turned up at court two hours late after confusion over whether she would testify by video from her Hollywood Hills home, or in person.

Los Angeles city prosecutors had demanded that Hilton be returned to jail and that the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, which runs the jail system, be held in contempt for violating the sentencing order, which expressly barred electronic monitoring of Hilton.

Los Angeles city attorney Rocky Delgadillo said Friday's decision "sends the message that no individual, no matter how wealthy or powerful, is above the law."

Los Angeles Superior Court judge Michael Sauer said in court on Friday he had not been given details of the medical condition that prompted her release. Speculation has ranged from a rash to a nervous breakdown. The judge said he was told that a psychiatrist had visited her in jail but did not go into details.

Photographers and cameramen laid siege to Hilton's home and news helicopters buzzed overhead waiting for the star of The Simple Life reality TV show to emerge from her home.

She was handcuffed and placed weeping into a sheriff's car for the trip to court and later driven back to jail, trailed again by news helicopters.

This isn't anyone's fault but her own, I think that the legal system is getting weary of all these celebs, getting away with murder!

  • Lyrical_07

Hey Paris says shes worried about ppl taking pictures of her takin a pee in jail. Im like what? Youre a semi porn star; you lose more of your self respect makin sex videos. Anyways, the justice system somewhat prevailed and thats what I like to see. This girl (note that Im not saying young woman) doesnt understand the importance of discipline. Lets see if she's as impassive and care free as she was on her bit TV show "The Simple Life" , as she is in jail. Hey, Michael Jackson is way worse off than this girl is and you dont see him crying! Of course we dont know her personally, but it doesnt take much for ppl to cast judgment on her trifling situations.

  • blake2011

i am sooo glad she is in jail...gosh just keep her in there for life! it wouldn't bother me one bit! god and i'm sick of those two little words! I'M HOT!!!!!!!!!! god she is soo stupid!.

  • LAURAMARIE63

    But now she's found religion!

  • cutieflutie1216

Who cares?! I don't know Paris Hilton and neither do you. Stop contributing to the "dumbing down" of America.

  • peggy777

I blame a lot of this on her parents. They raised her to not know how to be responsible for her own actions. They are a big part of her problem. We all know Paris is spoiled when it comes to money, but for her parents to not even instruct her to just do her time to help teach her a valuable lesson. They were the ones trying to rob her of a well needed lesson by helping bring her home after a few days. Again thinking that they are all above the law. The whole family needs a wake-up call before something very serious happens that permanently destroys someones life.

  • GizmoVirus

Why is it not right? Just because she has money?
Alot of people have it alot worse then her

  • Parsec54

I don't understand why people are saying the sentence is too harsh. She was driving drunk, repeatedly. It's just dumb luck she never killed anyone. Too many drunk drivers get away with murder in this country already. You drive drunk, you ought to have the license taken away for good, right from the start, and if you're caught doing it again, forget anymore chances. Into prison. And never mind less than two month stays. You recklessly endanger everyone on the road, driver, passenger, pedestrian, everyone. Why shouldn't you pay for that?

  • redthor

She is rich enough to hire a chauffeur. She like to go out and party and drink, but she doesn't think about the danger she poses to other drivers when she is on the road. Other cel-ebs are more careful or at least don't flaunt their fame to the extend Paris does. Now she is paying for her desire for fame.
What is worse is finding out that the Sheriff has been releasing prisoners early without court approval; a violation of our check and balance system.

  • Qwertyok2

    Hilton for the death penalty!

  • Jeric-Ho

Haha serves herself right, she deserves it, she is no different to anybody else in the world, fair enough she is rich and famous but that doesnt mean anything, if someone commits a crime/felony then they should pay the price no matter who they are! and or this "medical condition", thats aload of bullcrap, just a reason to get out of it! hopefully she may learn a thing or two from this and realise that the earth doesnt revolve around her, and that she is just like everyone else! stuck up b!tch lol

  • jesper5000

in the immortal words of Nelson Muntz - HA HA

  • niajoctin

I agree with the fact that she is being made to serve time but the fact that she was even taken out of jail in the first place was totally out of line. But it was SO wrong for her to be thrown BACK into jail. If they were going to remove her from the prison, at least don't send her back unexpectedly

  • VanGriffin

I can see it already : Hilton slam time: A biography. When this is over they are going to milk this for ever cent.Sucks. Maybe they'll catch her driving again and slam her for 6 months. One can always hope... :)

  • jcardiff

and next we'll have the obligatory reality tv series, her snivelling whinyness should be glad she's in solitary confinement.

  • AlkaStealther

very, very, very good news :D

  • RCM86

    Judge Michael Sauer rules! :)

  • caritaz

Yippiiiii and Hahahaaha that little brat got what she deserved!

  • Mag08

    Everyone is above the law.

  • jesper5000

not really but shes to spoiled to survive without expensive shopping trips.

  • gege48

    Is jail that bad????

  • JEYSMOM

What a whining snivelling baby cry. Now she is at the Real HILTON INN! What if she would have killed someone. I think the way celebrities try to get away with jail time is crazy. And the justice system for allowing it. Hooray for the Judge make an example out of her, it will keep the rest of them IN LINE. Most VOP are whatever remainder of time you had left to do on Probation. Guess she doesn't have her little Dog to keep her companY LOLOLOLOL

  • fanofshows681

I dont like Paris Hilton. I seriously dont understand the attraction to her she has no talent and is popular for going to parties and having sex tapes. I totally understand though that she is freaking out i mean she has the best life and to all of a sudden have to go the opposite way can be devastating. BUT FOR GODS SAKE YOU SHOULD NOT GET OFF FREE!!! do your time and quit acting like a b!tch!

  • HippieChild

No pity from me. If it had been a "regular" person they would have thrown the book at 'em. She's not above the law and I for one am thrilled she got her comeuppance. Maybe she'll learn more about the real world doing time as someones prison b***

  • Rogue_Beeyatch

Well ,she can tape her jail time and make a new season of Simple Life... or just actual, real life.

  • crunk_kitty

    Cyga_Gemini, I completely agree lol.

  • dlockjaw

What a circus! She should never have been released in the first place. If this had been anyone else they would have been taken to the unit's infirmary, then if necessary transfered to a county hospital for treatment of a physical medical condition. The same is true for a mental health problem. The county has guidelines for handling prisoners with these types of problems. The sheriff had no authority to circumvent the judge's order of "no electronic monitoring." It appears the sheriff's department started the process to have the judge review the "no electronic monitoring" order, but never followed through by suppling the required medical reports/evidence. The end result: she should be back in jail. I even appears, at least from the D.A.'s filings that even the number of days she was to serve was incorrect. By California state law the ratio of time served to time allowed for good behavior is 2:1. She should have, therefore been required to serve 31 days, not the 23 the Sheriff's department calculated. It appears that not only is there a different standard of justice for celebrities, but also a new field of mathematics. God, I glad she's back in jail, even if it is celebrity jail.moreless

  • maniacalzebra

I wonder why she wasn't bawling her eyes out the first time she went in? Oh, yeah. She knew she had an out. I think it's ridiculous that people responded as though she had just been sentenced to death. She dropped the appeal of the sentence before she went in, so it must not have been an unreasonable sentence ... until she was told to serve the whole thing.

  • Angelwomyn

Redhunt_86, nobody's saying Paris should be perfect, and the punishment is only harsh because she kept ignoring the court's orders. She had a chance to not serve any time if she just did community service, signed up for an alcohol education class, and served a license suspension. She refused to do any of these things. Maybe the judge thought giving her a jail sentence was the only way she would take the law seriously.

  • luvos_united

Ah, Paris! When are you going to learn?

No one actually cares about you! And, Ms. Hilton, NO ONE is above the law!

Might as well serve your time, for the crime you've committed...

  • widadita

God! This girl is so stupid! just go to jail and SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • drwoowoocl

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • VanGriffin

    to Cyga_Gemini, I'm with ya.

  • Naz23

yes! finally they are doing it properly. God why doesnt she just get on with sooner she goes in the faster it will move on :@

  • didi-at-sea

For God's sake.. grow a pair!!!

  • lala412

Ha! It cracks me up that it's now the full 45, not 23. They should double it to 90 if she pulls another stunt like that. Or even if she just whines more...

  • ccc1005

Such a whiner, maybe this will be a reality call for her... wait she is too dumb to realize that. Sadly this jail time probably won't change a damn thing for her. Those who support her/ dont think she needs jail time are idiots, how can you just ignore the fact she was convicted of DUI? She is just lucky she didn't hit someone. SO pathetic.

  • Billie3

She should have to back to jail, absolutely. What on earth makes her think that she is better than everyone else and can simply get out shen she feels she'd had enough?

  • hemlunda2000

What I know from DUI most offenders have been driving drunk before but not got caught. Paris should do her sentence and dont act like a spoiled brat. She is getting away with lots of special treatment and its about time she sees what simply life really means. Her lawyers and the hIltons wont do her any good if they come running everytime Daddys little rich girl cries..

She is an adult and should take her responsibility and not act like a teenager that have been grounded. If there is a serious medical reason they can find other soloutions then having her have house arrest at her house...Any other person wouldn't be treated like this...just the celebs that think that they can get away with everything. It makes me sick. Spending time in jail is generally breaking down your mental health...Did Paris think that this was some kind of game? I mean come on, how close to a breakdown can you be if you go and pose at a award show when you know ythat you will spend the next month in the slammer?????moreless
