So we're a little late to this, but it's just too good to ignore. Remember Bronson Pinchot, the funny weird guy from Perfect Strangers? Yeah, well, he's still kicking around and, apparently, doing interviews with The Onion's AV Club. And you know what? He's kind of our new favorite person ever. How many actors (especially of his less-than-megastar stature) are willing to just go all out and speak candidly about Tom Cruise's alleged gayness and then call Denzel Washington "vile"? He's pretty brave.
A selected highlight:
"Denzel Washington cured me forever of thinking that there is any amount of money or anything that could ever, ever make it okay to be abused. The script supervisor on that movie said it's like watching somebody kick a puppy. He was so vile."
Damn, Gina! You really should read the whole thing because it's spectacular. And it makes us think that goddarn it, we'd really like to see Mr. Pinchot have a second wave of bigtime stardom. Which pretty much means he needs his own show. But what kind of show? Maybe some sort of dramedy, so he can be funny like he always was (in a big, broad '80s kinda way) but also show off his classically-trained (Yale!) serious chops. He seems like he has the lightning wit enough to handle an Aaron Sorkin show. We also think he'd do a nice job with Ryan Murphy's (Glee, Nip/Tuck) particular brand of acidic oddballness.
And maybe it's time he was able to let his true verbal range come out in the open, so we'd like to see him on a premium channel where he can say all the bad words. How about this as a pilot pitch logline: "The biting-but-lovable Bronson Pinchot stars as Martin Durbin in Limelight, playing a depressed joke writer who's spent his entire career making other people look funny. Facing his 50th birthday with not much to show for himself (an ex-wife who hates him, a son who is too stoned to notice him, and a girlfriend who's just using him), Martin sets out to make his own leading man dreams come true. The Comeback meets Rescue Me in this dark comedy from the creators of Hung."
We'd watch it! How about you? Any ideas for the suddenly-really-interesting-again Bronson Pinchot?

I'd love to see him with his own series. It's been long enough that people won't automatically associate him with Balki.
I remember that when I was a child I laughed a lot with "Perfect Strangers", specially with Balky. I liked Bronson Pinchot's character in "The First Wives Club" film and maybe he deserves to have a sitcom but I think we will always seem him as Balky.
Not really a has-been, though. He's one of those great comedic character actors. He'd have been more at ease in the 50's Hollywood than now, but he's always been a memorable presence in 80's and 90's pop culture. I agree that the world is ready to see him resurface in something perhaps a bit more serious, a bit more involved than what we remember him for.
He really needs to get in on something. He could do the character he did in the movie The First Wive's Club. He was very funny in that role.Of course Balky will forever be #1.Hope he finds something soon.
How do people not know who Bronson Pinchot is!? Maybe I'm old. Enough about me! How about Mr. Pinchot star in a show "Bronson Tells It Like It Is." A half hour show, where he sits in an arm chair wearing a black turtleneck and blazer and just retells stories of the "old days" when he was on Perfect Strangers and such. He'll probably be drinking scotch too.
Man, it's been so long.
Where are the actors of the comedy of the 80's that we like so much.
Wow, been a long time since i've seen the tv show Perfect Strangers - my favorite was the Ninja fight scene between him and Cousin Larry LOL
WHO???
He can wash my car if he's free
Have that really interesting actress from "Stranger Inside", (Davenia McFadden)play his boss or housekeeper.
Why is it that people seem to assume that you have to swear to be funny? Didn't Dick Van Dyke and Bill Cosby prove you can be funny without cursing? I think it takes a lot more talent to be able to stay above all that than to sink to the lowest common denominator. Dennis Miller used to be funny, until I saw him on his HBO series cursing like crazy. There's enough junk on tv already. If you're going to give someone like Pinchot another show, make it a quality one that everyone can watch.
he's from "beverly hills cop" he plays serge. aqwell, aqcwell (axel, axel)
I have an idea how about dancing with the stars and see him do the "dance of joy" :P
Who is he?
Right you are Richard, he would be funny in Glee I think.. I remember he was in the Surreal life but it was like 4 years ago and only caught a few episodes so I can't remember what he was like in it.
Dont worry Starprincess i dont know who he is either...
XO XO
:):):):):)
Am I the only person who doesn't know who Bronson Pinchot is?
I dont have a role for him sorry... :):)
I'm not really a fan but I did like him on Perfect strangers 20 years ago. I found him pretty annoying on Step by Step.
