Dark Helmet lives.
The villain of the 1987 Mel Brooks movie Spaceballs may be primed for a return as MGM and Brooksfilms Limited, in association with G4 and Berliner Film Companie, prepare an animated series based on the film. SCTV vet Rick Moranis played the character in the movie.
The pilot is being written by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, a longtime Brooks collaborater who worked on the Spaceballs movie and who will oversee writing for the series. Meehan has also worked with Brooks on the smash musical version of Brooks' film The Producers.
Spaceballs starred Bill Pullman, John Candy, Daphne Zuniga, Moranis, and Brooks in a story that parodied many sci-fi films, chief among them Star Wars. The film grossed $38 million domestically.

Finally, there is a chance of Spaceballs Merchandising! Spaceballs The T-Shirt and such. im too tired to remember the whole bit. Anyways, im hopeful for this series. I think that most of the cast isnt doing anything right now
I love that movie, and can't wait for the show! Only, no one says anything about when it comes out, which is my only problem.
YES!!!!!!!!! I LOVED THAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!
Jhon Goodmen would be an excellent Barf, he would probably do good, but he is no Jhon Candy.See yaz bye.
Interesting... but I really wanted to see a sequel to SPACEBALLS. I guess that since Candy is no longer with us, its just impossible, huh?
all i can say is: thank you god and by god i mean mel brooks
This is pretty cool, because I would love to see more of this movie brought to the screen. This might be a decent series if it done right.
Haven't they been talking about this for some time now? I recall about two years ago something was in the works and then it went away.
But G4? I'd much rather watch Spaceballs before Blade: The Series :)
A fine, fine movie. What a shame they are going to ruin it like this. Just like the real Star Wars, people just can't leave well enough alone.
Shwartz?
Merchandising, its all about merchandising! ROFL
Gee, Linc the last time I checked out my zip code I still lived in the United States of America, where free speech is a beautiful thing. I have the right to say what I want about what I want as long as I am not abusive or cursing (which I wasn't and did not). Any questions?
This is going to be an adult cartoon, right? Because it would be lost on kids. I guess everything Mel Brooks does is pretty adult. I'd rather he make a sequel though.
Guess I need to see it again. I don't remember it being that funny at the time.
All hail Dark Helmet
I loved that movie!!! I hope they do this cartoon well. It could be hilarious!
YEAH! :D My favorite "Star Wars" parody film is finally being made into an animated TV series! Now I can die happy!
I will watch anything related to Mel Brooks.
But I love Spaceballs. Whoever says it is a stupid movie should be banned for bashing.
Truly one of the stupidest movies ever made; at least my husband will be happy.
nice. Love that movie.
It's about time Mel Brooks comes out with something new!!!
SPACEBALLS who will play the John Candy part?
Awesome, that movie was so friggen funny!!!
"Use the schwartz"...LOL
I'll watch this in a heartbeat.
You're kidding me, right? You've got to be? Holy book, this ROCKS!
