Star shrinks from View

In some estimations, The View just got a lot better.

Star Jones, the once-portly cohost of the daytime women's talk show, announced she will leave the show in mid-July. The TV personality, who reportedly owns over 500 pairs of shoes, offered differing explanations of her reasons for departing the show.

On-air, Jones told the viewing audience that she just felt it was time to leave the show.

"Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel, I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its 10th season, and I will not be returning as cohost next year," she said during a View broadcast.

When asked about her future plans, Jones, a devout Christian, said, "I'm not sure what the future holds, but I'm absolutely sure who holds the future."

In People Magazine, Jones had more to say on the subject of her View askew. Jones intimates that she was ousted to make way for incoming cohost Rosie O'Donnell.

"What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the 10th season," she told the tabloid. "I feel like I was fired."

Jones, who once said she defines the word "bitch" as "a Babe In Total Control of Herself," has traded barbs with her cohosts in the past. In March, she called cohost Joy Behar a "babe in total control of herself" during a televised spat.

O'Donnell and Jones have a long-standing feud over the method that Jones used to lose weight. O'Donnell has repeatedly asserted that Jones had stomach surgery, which Jones denied.

On May 14, O'Donnell posted an angry message on her blog regarding the issue:

"Star jones had weight loss surgery/she had part of her stomach bypassed/that is how she lost 1/2 herself/she refuses to say this/which is her right/but we do not have to pretend/we do not know. so star shrinks b4 our eyes/we know the truth/but nod as she talks about/pilates and will power/i am sure star jones/beneath the beyonce bravado/is a scared lil girl/who grew her body big/strong and safe."

Personally I think Barbara was terrible to Star Jones. I think she went out with dignity and was stabbed in the back for it. Also I will not be watching the View anymore with Rosie on there. I can not stand her.

i'm just annoyed that she pretends she lost it naturally when she so obviously didn't!

Not that I am a huge Star Jones-Reynolds fan, but why is it Rosie O'Donnell's business how she lost weight? Weight is a very personal thing, no one should be forced to discuss how they gained or lost weight in the public. A woman I know recently lost a lot of weight and we all gushed to her about how great and healthy she looked. No one asked how she did it and I was even shocked when she began to tell us. It is her business and no one has the right to "out" her.

I am so sad that Star is gone! I refuse to watch The View again since they hired Rosie and now to make matters worse they stab Star in the back! Watch out Elisabeth, those caddy women may go after you next.

Let's all be honest here--she was FIRED! Plus, no one actually watches this show, let alone cares.

What was Barbara thinking when she hired her in the first place? She is a stuck up "babe in total control of herself" who is pretty much sickening..Glad she's going.
