Star Trek's Sulu joins I'm a Celebrity... line-up

The names of the 10 celebrities braving the Aussie jungle for the eighth series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here have been announced.

The reality show, hosted by Ant and Dec, once again includes a variety of personalities, from ex-boy-band member Simon Webbe to tennis champion Martina Navratilova. This series also welcomes the show's oldest contestant yet: 71-year-old George Takei, best known for his role as Mr Sulu in Star Trek.

Other TV personalities making their way to the jungle include ex-soap-star Joe Swash, who played Mickey Miller in Eastenders, That's Life presenter Esther Rantzen, TV presenter and model Dani Behr, and chat-show host Robert Kilroy-Silk.

Kilroy-Silk, whose politically incorrect remarks famously led to the cancellation of his show, Kilroy, in 2004, claims that he won't make the same mistake on I'm A Celebrity… "Clearly I have very strong opinions, and other people will have too, but I don't see the jungle as being the place where they should be aired," he says on the show's Web site.

Carly Zucker, the fiancee of England footballer Joe Cole, is also entering the jungle alongside glamour girl and fellow Wag Nicola McLean, who says she doesn't care if people don't know who she is. The fiancee of Peterborough United's Tom Williams, McLean says: "People are just going to think that I'm a dumb blonde and that's great. I agree with Pamela Anderson: 'Act dumb and no one expects anything from you.'"

Also appearing in this series is ex-police chief and politician Brian Paddick, who hopes that his appearance will chance the public's opinion of him. "I'm not just a serious politician and a serious former police officer," he says.

I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here starts on Sunday 16 November on ITV1. Will you be watching?
