Stars of Battlestar: Where Are They Now?

Now that Battlestar Galactica is over, the stars of the hit SyFy drama are taking on new roles. From action-adventure to drama to comedy, the crew has the whole industry covered. A few main characters will appear in Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, a made-for-TV movie airing November 1, 2009 on SyFy. In the meantime, check out some of their new projects.

Jamie Bamber
Was: Lee 'Apollo' Adama
Now: DS Matt Devlin on Law & Order: UK (2009); guest star (TBA) on the upcoming season of Dollhouse

After five years on BSG, the blue-eyed Brit headed back to the UK to play Detective Sergeant Matt Devlin on the first season of Law & Order: UK. Bamber will return to American television with a guest appearance on the season two premiere of Dollhouse.

James Callis
Was: Dr. Gaius Baltar
Now: Merlin in Merlin and the Book of Beasts (movie, 2009); Mason Duryea on Numb3rs (1 episode, 2009); Danny Rubins in Re-Uniting the Rubins (movie, 2009)

Callis will play Merlin in the movie project Merlin and the Book of Beasts (not to be confused with Merlin, a British show now airing on NBC). Callis has also signed on to play a completely different character -- one who has nothing to do with magic, fantasy, or action -- in the movie Re-Uniting the Rubins, a comedy about a dysfunctional Jewish family.

Tricia Helfer
Was: Number Six, Cylon
Now: Naomi Tyler Moore in Them (movie, 2010); Lila in Open House (movie, 2010); an unnamed character on Human Target (2010); Rachel Carson in The Dealership (movie, 2009); Agent Bonnie Belski on Warehouse 13; Julia Carver in Hidden Crimes (movie, 2009); Number Six in Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (2009)

A former supermodel, Helfer has one of the busiest schedules of all her former shipmates. Not only has she signed up for Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, but she's making a number of appearances in new made-for-TV movies and TV shows as well.

Mary McDonnell
Was: President Laura Roslin
Now: Beverly Miller in Jimmy Nolan (movie, 2010); Captain Sharon Raydor on The Closer; Rose Smithsonian in Lifetime's made-for-TV movies Hostile Makeover and Killer Hair (2009)

President Roslin has taken a few guest roles and smaller parts since the end of BSG, including a role on the Lifetime movie Hostile Makeover. But she'll be on the silver screen next year starring in Jimmy Nolan, a movie about an autistic teenage boy.

Edward James Olmos
Was: Admiral William Adama
Now: Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (2009)

Olmos hasn't signed on for any TV shows yet, but will appear in two movies currently in development -- The Crystal Frontier and Cutting Sign. And, of course, we'll see his face in Battlestar Galactica: The Plan.

Grace Park
Was: Lt. Sharon 'Boomer' Valerii
Now: Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (2009); Honey in Punctured (movie, 2009); Special Agent Liz Carver on The Border; Akani Cuesta on The Cleaner

Grace Park has made a name for herself as a sci-fi and action actress, thanks to roles like Number Eight on BSG and Lt. Satterfield on Stargate SG-1. She is further cementing the typecast with her role as an American Homeland Security agent in The Border.

Katee Sackhoff
Was: Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace
Now: Dana Walsh on 24 (2010); Dr. Theodora 'Teddy' Rowe on Nip/Tuck

Sackhoff is making the transition from outer space adventures to homeland security anxieties by joining in Keifer Sutherland on 24 as Special Agent Dana Walsh.

callis is an amazingly good, and I think Mary is a awesome actress as well. Olmos is incredible - I'll never forget Admiral Adama and Helfer is so beautiful, real identifiable look to her and she's a good actress to boot; really, all of the actors on this show are generally as skilled as any actor on TV right now.

Of the lesser known BSG cast (excluding Mary Mcdonnell, Eddy Olmos) I see James Callis's career being the most successful out of the lot. He's seriously a VERY talented actor.

I have more James Callis please. As the Doctor, I never thought of it, but since he's so great, I can see him as a Darker Doctor. One that hangs with Torchwood :)

I think that James Callis would make a great Doctor Who. Maybe he could take over after Matt Smith. Granted he is older than the recent ones but he has that quality about him especially when he had that red and black suit on when in Caprica's head. he could be a darker Doctor than recent ones.
