Starter Wife finds series love

Fans of the miniseries The Starter Wife likely got a little misty-eyed at the end of its run, with sad thoughts of never seeing the show again. Well, it's time to lift your heads and dry those eyes, because USA Network liked the miniseries so much, it ordered a full season.

USA is asking for 10 one-hour episodes of the drama, which are to being airing next summer, says Variety. The original six-piece miniseries ran from the end of May to the end of June.

The Starter Wife features Messing as Molly Kagan, a recent divorcee who goes from the glamour of being married to a movie producer and in Hollywood's elite to starting anew and on her own. The miniseries was nominated for 10 Emmys, and took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries (Judy Davis).

I liked the show, but I think that it playing in the fall and winter is going to kill it. They needed to play it in the summer when nothing else is on. I have a full lineup for the rest of the year.

I soooooo can't wait!!! However, does this mean that they will be coming back here to Australia to do it again as most of the filming was done here....

I never liked "Will and Grace" myself and it became a laughing stock as a celeb guest star vehicle in its latter years, so I was very worried that the next Messing vehicle would indeed be as "messed up" (bad pun) as W&G was.I was therefore quite surprised that "The Starter Wife" was pleasantly watchable. Not exactly demanding viewer fayre, but not everything has to be as heavy as "The Sopranos", "Six Feet Under" or "Dexter" (all great shows though!).In some ways, it has a sort of similar feel (albeit moving away from marriage rather than eventually towards it) as the equally endearing "Side Order Of Life"...just don't give Messing the ability to see things that aren't there in photos like Coughlan seems to have (arguably the weakest plot point of SOOL).moreless

They're only doing it because they want to be nominated for 10 emmies again, and very few of their shows currently could do that (except Monk maybe).

I had a feeling that USA would turn it into a miniseries eventually. I liked the story and the characters were interesting. Judy Davis was the main reason I tuned in and I hope she comes back for the series.
