Starter Wife reaches finish line

We're inappropriately celebrating!

When USA Network commissioned a miniseries for The Starter Wife in 2007, the ratings and critical acclaim came pouring in. Thinking it had a bona fide hit on its hands, USA opted to turn the show into a regular series and aired 10 episodes in 2008. Unfortunately, things didn't go so well the second time around.

USA has decided to cancel the series after one season, according to EW.com. Poor ratings appears to be the culprit, and looking at the numbers, it's easy to see why. The original six-part miniseries averaged 5 million viewers; the series averaged only 2.4 million.

The miniseries version of The Starter Wife starred Will & Grace's Debra Messing as a women spurned by her Hollywood hotshot husband and trying to find her own niche in society. The series picked up where the miniseries left off, focusing more on the lead character raising her children and juggling her career motivations.

Will you miss The Starter Wife?
