As always, if your favorite show doesn't have a community page yet, don't panic—we've got plenty more in the pipeline. But feel free to leave requests in the comments! And keep in mind that we're always open to changing the name of a community if you've got a great idea; in cases where we receive multiple requests, we'll simply post a poll to choose a winner.

Now, I believe you have some joining to do. Get to it!

I don't feel like Communities were ever officially introduced? I just remember some of the more popular shows from last year had a spiffier skin when I visited them....is that what these communities are? I mean heck, there's one for the USA show Dead Zone? I mean, I liked it a lot too, but hasn't it been cancelled for a pretty long time now?

We introduced them and started rolling them out toward the end of June. From then, we've been adding more and more! We're picking popular shows, upcoming shows, and taking requests! The community pages are a place for fans to come together to post discussions, stories, photos, videos, polls, etc. Some posts come from staff, but the majority of them are from users like yourself! We wanted to find a way to help you express yourselves in more creative ways!

I'm still a little confused though, can't pretty much all those things be done via the forums which have been there all along? The community thing just seems like a new way to skin certain popular shows? And speaking of, I noticed that if you just go straight to a show, the communities oddly are kind of tucked away still? Seems like it would be a good thing to be the new front page for said shows?

In some ways it's similar to the forums. But we have a much nicer UI and threaded comments (like on the news articles). The photos, videos, polls, etc work a little bit more seamlessly, as well. We aren't replacing the show pages, we're just adding this new feature to them right now. If you would like to discuss further you can PM me!

It'll be very interesting to see how popular communities for shows premiering this fall will be. Personally, I'm not adding anything that I'm not yet sure I'll watch on a weekly basis, so I added The Originals, but with the likes of Ravenswood, Sleepy Hollow, Reign, The Crazy Ones, and The Blacklist I'm going to have to wait and see if I keep tuning in, and want to be a part of those communities.

For now it's a good place to share guesses, news, and theories about upcoming shows that you're excited about!

I just thought of something. Maybe next time an article like this comes out, put all the communities in the list and bold the new communities. Also remind everyone that all the communities on the list, both old and new, are clickable links....
I just thought of it because of comments asking for communities we already have.

I'd love to see a Cold Case community, but with it not being on DVD, I'm not sure how many fans there are. Thank goodness repeats are on TNT and Ion.

I posted this above but if you are like me you don't go back to articles unless you have a notification (well maybe not since it's your job). Regardless, here it is again:

The new Communities are great, thanks for setting them up, especially for Chuck, it's one of my favourite shows.
Some suggestions for the next batch: THE X FILES (long overdue), House & Alias (as mentioned below) and Red Dwarf.

Can we have some more general communities. Like an Australian Television community, and maybe a UK one too.

I asked for a "generic community" a while ago when they came out. I believe, if I remember correctly, they want to get all the specific show communities out first (makes sense) before having a generic community (hmm, general community sounds better but I think it should be called "free for all"--obscure song reference).

Right now we're working on show based communities but these are on our list, too. We're working our way to a feature like that!

So these communities seem like a reasonably good idea in theory. Whether every show in the universe needs one is a different issue but that's your call (and the 3 people still watching some of these shows - just kidding).

What would seriously be helpful though is if you invested in some reasonably modern tech to actually operate the communities. Right now the functionality is basically no different the these comments pages. Which is pretty 1995.

For instance, why can't I just pull up the posts of members who I find have interesting things to say, or just see if there are any responses to my posts (without having to manually scroll through a few hundred entries) or just see the most recent posts (not just the brand new posts but the most recent replies to various posts), or link different posts and responses together? There have got to be off the shelf products that let you do more than post, reply, reply, reply...

Again, the concept is good, but the platform is lame. Don't be an NBC.

Thanks,

Thanks for the feedback! We're just getting started adding more advanced features to the Communities, so stay tuned.

I'd note that if you'd like vote all of the posts from a user, simply click on a user's profile image in the Community to view the "Posts" tab on their profile: http://www.tv.com/users/Taccado/posts/

On discovering responses to your posts + comments, we do have Notifications in the site header to alert you to replies and votes on your work and we're going to continue to make improvements to them going forward.

when you all get a chance (lol) can we get an option on a user's homepage to find all their comments (comments everywhere and not just in communities)? Some people always or usually have insightful comments or witty comments or ....

It would be nice to find them since I don't go back to most articles once I have read them and their comments~~so I'll like to know if user x posted a comment since I last saw the review since I probably won't go back to it---have you tried reading all 600+ teen wolf comments to try to find someone's reply to someone else's comment... If I am really motivated I will got to it and scroll to the bottom to load more comment (takes a while for teen wolf since there are so many comments) then do control-F and find the person that way.... I really do that but if there was a quick easy way to do it then that would be fabulous.

just a suggestion and no urgency

Yeah, there are some kinks with these communities. Last time there was a major layout overhaul, users got to open up about it. So maybe soon we get a space where we can talk about pro and cons with the new communities.

I too feel that there is some clutter in the feed. Why, for example, are there "Discuss the Episode" entries, when there are also reviews of the same episodes? The result is that all the discussion happens in the review article, since it's found on the main page, but the "Discuss the Episode" entry is completely empty of any discussion. There are some other things to point out too, but maybe I should stop here, and leave the criticism for a space reserved for it.

I completely agree. The discussion threads should only be added if there's not going to be a review. Right now it's mirroring what happened in the forums. If there was a review, then almost all the discussion was there and the forums slowly died.

Thanks guys, more great feedback. We've got more improvements on the way for the episode entries in particular.

Things like this are why it would be so nice to have a simple alphabetical list of all the communities - no special effects needed. Something where I could just use my find box to get to the community I want. The top communities - Twitter version - is the pits. I have to stop and load the next 20 communities ad nauseam. It's ages until I can find a low-user community.

The alternative is to go to a show's home page and link to the community from there. Equally unfriendly.

All I have to say is, yay! It was a long wait, but it was worth it! I now have six more communities (The Middle, Suburgatory, Lucky 7, The Michael J. Fox Show, We Are Men, Welcome to the Family) to join, in addition to the three I was already a member of! This is the best batch of communities yet!
The other ones I would like (that I'm sure are coming in not too long) are Surviving Jack, Mixology, and Undateable.

Damn, this launch barely has anything for me, that's new. Cougar Town, Bob's Burgers, The Dead Zone (although, *really*, a 6 year old basic cable series?), and Mythbusters for me.
