Surprise! Conan O'Brien to TBS

Well this is a bit of a surprise. Conan O'Brien, he who was unceremoniously dumped by NBC, has found a new home at TBS, says The Hollywood Reporter. The lanky redhead was thought to be near a deal for a late-night talk show with Fox, but problems with Fox affiliates stymied the agreement.

Conan's new late-night show will debut in November after the World Series, when he'll take over the 11 o'clock slot Monday through Thursday. TBS will bump George Lopez and Lopez Tonight back to midnight, creating a formidable late-night twosome on the network that was formerly known for the Atlanta Braves and reruns. Of course Lopez is excited about the deal, as it will bring more attention to his own show.

"In three months I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I'm headed to basic cable," said O'Brien. "My plan is working perfectly."

Here's hoping that a move to TBS can bring back the Conan of old, the pre-Tonight Show Conan with the eccentric sense of humor and wacky skits. Heck, on TBS he may even be able to drop a few curse words now and then.

Leno, Letterman, Kimmel, Fallon, Ferguson, Lopez, and now O'Brien again. That's a whole lotta late-nightness to flip through.

Conan on TBS--are you a fan of this move?

I never cared much for Conan O'Brien, his silly pupet dance, hairdo and shaking his head. His jokes aren't funny and neither is he. I was glad to see him leave the Late Night Show. Cable is a good place for him--he won't be missed!

Well Conan\\\'s career is officially over. Cable/Satellite doesnt pull in the big crowds like network. A lot of the lead ins to late night shows are the local news or other shows. TBS IMO has always been a **** rerun cable station. **** before this news I didn\\\'t even know george lopez had a late night show. Conan you **** up. You\\\'d been better off being on at midnight on NBC than any time on TBS. And should have conformed to whatever FOX wanted. Went from being on ****ty network station(NBC), to possibly the best(FOX), to on a crappy cable channel full of reruns..... Great job!

My cable company no longer carries TBS (I miss it), but I'm happy for Conan.

well my late nights are really taken up with The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert so Conan would be second choice. Still he might become funnier with the freedom of Basic Cable so I will give it a try.

How are the late night numbers at TBS now. I think they are in trouble. The audience expectations need to be adjusted. If he is allowed to be super out there this might just be fantastic. Too bad his bits are still at NBC. Well I guess the frisky bear will now be a frisky badger, and instead of an insult dog perhaps a gopher. I hope he sticks it to NBC!

I just hope Hulu or something shows it cause I don't have cable...
Conan and David Letterman are the only ones I watch.

Personally i only watch Ferguson, coz he's the best of them all. Could not be bothered with Coco's new deal, in fact most of those guys really don't deserve their own talk show.

The whole coco movement was funny for a minute. Now it's just tired. TBS? Good luck with that....

TBS isn't that a step down for Conan? I mean I could understand Comedy Central, or Fox but TBS? Wasn't George Lopez just ripping Conan in his monologue during the whole scandal. Wish him the best, but TBS come on dude.

Go Conan! I am so glad that something worked out for him. And George Lopez is happy to have him as his lead-in, so that's a plus also. Looking forward to November!
