CBS's Survivor takes normal people on an adventure and puts them in near-death experiences. A new show from Survivor host Jeff Probst is going to take people that are near death and put them on an adventure.
Live Like You're Dying is a new reality show in development from the mind of Jeff Probst and reality guru Mark Burnett, and its premise is simple but could raise a few eyebrows.
In Live Like You're Dying (Seriously? Let's hope that's a working title), Probst and his crew will take a terminally ill person and "take them on the last adventure of their life." Oooooookay. Said "adventures" will include reuniting with family members, fulfilling lifelong dreams, and a "legacy moment" that will help their name live on forever and ever. Oooooookay.
"The focus of the show is not death," Probst told EW.com. "The story we're going tell is about living. This is a show that is intended to inspire everybody to get the most out of their lives every day."
If you say so, Jeff. It's nonprofit, I assume?

I guess I would need more information, but I'm a fan of Probst/Burnett, so I think it will be fine if it helps people.
Seriously. Only in America. This is in such bad taste its unreal.
This plot is too morbid to have any staying power.
It's a nice idea but the fact that it's made for TV means the people featured will be sorted out according to who has the saddest story/wildest dream, etc....death is a personal thing though and if someone wants to go on this, well, it's their call...
I agree w/ a lot of the users who have already mentioned this being a bad idea, it just doesn't seem right...This almost reminds me of George Carlin's skit on the "All Suicide Channel."
I know I will be kicked for this, but here in America, we do not deal with death well. We always assume it will never happen to "us". That is why most people are now rude and inconsiderate. If these people are willing to come on this show and share what they are going through and show the rest of us what their life is like right before they die, it might benefit all of us into thinking of our own lives and our we might live them better. Just a thought...
Giving a terminally ill individual a chance of a life time is a "good thing". However, airing iton t.v. as a reality show is something entirely different. This is just another way to make money at the cost of some one's misfortune. I would never want to be exploited that way. I am a fan aof survivor and Jeff Probst but this is taking it too far. Sorry, Jeff I hope it works but I will not be watching.
I love Jeff Probst, but this a really bad idea. I wouldn't watch it.
Inappropriate.
Certain issues should not be messed with, to me, this is one of them.
This will probably fail. But it could work. Some of the 'life-long dreams' I'm hoping for: participating in a threesome, basejumping off of the Eifel Tour, stopping a rollercoaster while it's upside down laughing at the people and slapping the president in his face. But it'll probably be: learn to play the piano, see the grand canion, and visit grandpa one more time. To bad...
Sounds like exploitation TV no matter how you dress it up. It's great that somebody terminally ill gets a chance like this, but it's not so great that there's someone editing all the best bits, getting an overly sympathetic presenter dogging their every move and some bright spark slapping string quartets and 'Time of Your Life' by Green Day on the end of every slo-mo. Doesn't anybody ever realise that Green Day song is about telling someone to pack their stuff and get out of their lives?! I laughed during an episode of ER and they used it out of context as a funeral song.
hmmmm....this could end very badly......
uh...perhaps that the plot means well, but I don't think people are going to watch people in near-death experiences and relive it. That's why they have the news and those daytime talk shows.
I guess I just have to say the obvious - it is really bad taste. And sounds quite morbid.
I think it will suck as much as oprah's big give
Interesting idea. too soon to say whether it'll fail or not ; I'd rather wait until the first episode airs. But does this mean Jeff's done with Survivor?
Ugh! Make a Wish Foundation the series... Blah!
Actually, this sounds interesting. It has potential, but I don't think it'll do very well.
Lol I don't know what to think. But if its got Jeff, then I'm hoping that it'll turn out good. It sounds pretty weird though.
fail fail fail fail
