TBS Axes My Boys

This isn't a huge surprise, but it's got to be disappointing for some. Deadline says TBS has finally pulled the plug on My Boys, the little comedy that could, after four seasons of what I'll call above-average laughs.

The show's future was certainly cloudy, but there was a sliver of hope that it would return for a fifth season. At least, there was enough hope to force some of its stars to pull out of other jobs. Sucks for them.

Jordana Spiro, who played P.J., was a hot commodity in the off-season as network vultures planned to pick her up to headline their own shows. She was booked for Love Bites, the anthology rom-com that included Ugly Betty standout Becki Newton, but was forced to quit as it interfered with her My Boys contract. A similar thing happened to Kyle Howard (Bobby), who was booked for Perfect Couples.

TBS canceled My Boys today. TBS ordered 90 (not a typo) episodes of Ice Cube's Are We There Yet? in August. Fair?

My Boys fans, grieve in the comments section, below.

Very upset to hear this news....it's the highlight of summer TV. What is TBS thinking? Hoping some other network will pick this show up and run with it.

They advertise "Are We There Yet?" EVERY commercial break!!!! But never My Boys!!! I relate to PJ because I'm a tomboy who loves baseball. It was the highlight of my week when it was on. UGH!!! And now it's gonna be a B*tch trying to find the DVD seasons in stores and online.

I am disappointed that this is not coming back! I luved this show and I thought it was more then just some above average laughs! They played their characters as if they were real. I could see this group of ppl at our local bar talking about their day or growing facial hair together lol. =( I am so sad.

It was the only show on TBS that was worth watching. My channel will never be tuned to TBS again it seems. I loved this show, and always looked forward to it's next season. The cast was definitely a great match.

TBS never marketed this show well. They would market it two weeks before a season would debut and that was it.

Since this show's season was only 8 weeks, that's a long time between seasons with no publicity.

However, we've got marketing out of the wazoo for TBS' sister network's The Closer.

kind of a jerk move by TBS. I mean, they obviously knew they were axing the show, but they forced Jordana and Kyle to drop the pilots they were in? NOT cool, TBS. Even less cool than canceling the show. :(

Not Cool. I really enjoyed this show and its characters. I looked forward to seeing what was going to happen next. I guess I should have known something was up when Mike grew up and made his place descent to have people over.

I really enjoyed the show. Not the best ever, but it made me smile and feel good. I hate to see it go. I also hate the show ending. I liked Bobby, but always wanted to see Brando and PJ end up together.

I loved this show, but I live in Canada and did not get to see the fourth season. TBS was taken away from us last summer and given Peachtree tv instead so we sis not get to see it. Will it come out on DVD? When?

This is bull. It was an amazing show that was never given a fair shot. However, like other shows of it's caliber (can anyone say Sports Night?), network execs couldn't understand the dialogue and therefore axed it in favor of some brainless waste of 30 minutes. Congrats, TBS... you just gave me one less channel to keep on my favorites list.

I'm sorry to see it go. My Boys has been a good show. It even held up without Jim Gaffigan. Well, at least this frees up the actors for other projects.

it was a great show, sucks that it got the ax but that's life.

It was a cute show but I thought it was a little hokey how they always had big glasses of beer (or colored water) in their hands. Like ok we get it, you're all friends who drink together all the time.
