TBS Renews Cougar Town for Season 5

The cul de sac crew will be uncorking more wine than usual tonight: Cougar Town has been renewed for fifth season. The Bill Lawrence sitcom, which was canceled by ABC last spring and subsequently saved by TBS, is currently wrapping up its first season on the cable channel, with the Season 4 finale set for April 9. The network has ordered 13 episodes for Season 5, which will likely air in early 2014.

According to TBS, Cougar Town's fourth season has averaged 2.8 million total viewers and 1.7 million viewers in the 18-49 demo once DVR numbers are factored in, enough to make it the network's number-one primetime original series ever.

Anyone up for a friendly game of Penny Can to celebrate?

PS - thanks Target for all your support, especially letting them film an episode in your store along with several promos, that's not at all creepy and over-the-top in the most subtle way possible.

i can definitely see tbs or another cable network picking up happy endings and apt 23 with this news, plus many other great shows that get the ax. i mean, all they do is play repeats of family guy and big bang theory

That would be awesome if TBS picked up Happy Endings and Don't Trust the B--

Happy for all the fans. I personally don't watch it (yet) but nice to know there is a chance for some shows to be redeemed. TBS are you looking for another quirky show with a loveable cast and loyal fan base? Happy Endings may need a new home, its 'very funny' :-)

What what! Super glad it got renewed. I don't know the ratings of this show since it went cable and I was pessimistic. but I'm so happy that it'll still go on.

cable shows tend to be better in quality than broadcast shows these days. Not that I'm saying Season 4> Seasons 1-3 of this show in particular, but cable has the best quality

It has greatly approved since it's last season ABC, this season is a lot better. Glad to hear that TBS will give it Season 5.

awesome news! Looks like TBS isn't regretting their decision to buy the show, even if the Season 5 renewal is only for syndication purposes.

CHANGE APPROVED! :)

I can't get excited about this. I'm still watching but have found the current season pretty dull for the most part (there were a couple of episodes recently that I really liked but that's about it). Barring a substantial upswing in quality to finish the season I'll be dropping out.
