Teen Wolf "Silverfinger" Review: Enter the Yakuza, Obviously (PHOTO RECAP)

Teen Wolf S03E17: "Silverfinger"

Whoops, here we go. This is it! The Teen Wolf roller coaster stopped click-click-clacking up that big hill and we've crested and we're plummeting all the way down and the tracks ahead look frenzied and spectacular and we're all screaming and the sea breeze is getting in our eyes but it doesn't matter because we feel ALIIIIIIIIIVE. Guys, this is my favorite part of EVERY season, when the show goes from a merely very entertaining teen monster serial to suddenly barreling into INSANITY territory at breakneck speed. For one thing I love when the mythology gets so complicated that I have straight-up NO IDEA what's going on. I talk about this all the time, but I love a show that trusts me to keep up even when I am clearly not keeping up. It's a breathless, brain-shocking way to tell a story and I love every second of it. Last season it happened when we realized there were MULTIPLE villains all working against each other and their backstories were hilariously, intricately intertwined. And now here we are with all the weird Japanese mythology exploding like a dirty bomb right in our brains. Like, you know an episode is going to be instant-classic when the cold open involves THE YAKUZA. But then we got a truly scary and breathless home invasion centerpiece sequence. We discovered the demon ninjas are possibly GOOD guys? And they were being controlled by a single firefly, Krang-style? Also Scott's dad discovered the truth finally. Scott's Mom remained MVP of the season. Oh and Stiles is PROBABLY A SUPERNATURAL VILLAIN NOW? Leave it to Teen Wolf to bust out what would normally be a season FINALE on any other show for its FIFTH episode. So much happened. This was one of the best episodes of Teen Wolf I've ever seen I'm pretty sure. No I am VERY sure.

If I gave letter grades to each episode, "Silverfinger" would earn the grade of WOWOWOWOW, on account of WOW. Because WOW. Let's talk about it!

We started in the Argent penthouse with a thorough explanation of why Mr. Argent had come staggering into the apartment that morning looking A MESS.  And I do mean it was a THOROUGH explanation. It went back in time thirty years and involved no less than THE YAKUZA. (Much like most of my hangover stories.)

Uh, first of all. Look at Young Mr. Argent. Holy moly, this show. But anyway, yes:

Hahahaha oh man. It's like every time you think Teen Wolf is PERFECT it gets even more perfect. Guys, this cold open involved THE YAKUZA. So the gist was that Young Argent was on his first weapons deal (?) in Japan and learned the hard way that his clients were Yakuza JUST WHEN they were all attacked by demons made of firefly toots. But if we're being real they only seemed interested in harming those who were seeking to harm them first.

And they seemed ESPECIALLY interested in this dude:

And they straight-up KILLED him, silver fangs and everything! Meanwhile, Young Argent had an extremely clever idea:

He shot one of the demon guys and broke his mask off (which he now keeps in a box in his home office) and behind the mask? DARKNESS. Ugh so good. Legit scary. (Can TV shows win the MacArthur Grant? Because this sh*t is genius.)

So that's how Mr. Argent came to be familiar with these demon guys. As for who beat him up the night before, he'd apparently attempted to go visit a former Yakuza dude (the only other survivor from that flashback, and also a guy with a silver finger because why not) and the Yakuza dude beat him up BAD. Or his bodyguards did. Doesn't matter. Moral is, try not to go bother former Yakuza if at all possible, they hate it.

Then we saw Kira come home all aglow from having ridden on a motorcycle and touching Scott's werewolf face:

Haha okay, to be fair there was a lot more emotional underpinning to this moment. Like, the fact that they had both essentially come out to each other as different but the same. That must have been a very good feeling for both of them! But also he trusted her enough to wolf out in front of her and let her feel his sideburns. This scene was very good and heartwarming to me, sorry. I'm just being honest. I like this love story a lot. Nice kids.

Meanwhile the next day at school Scott could NOT shake a pair of twins who REALLY wanted to keep him safe from Japanese demon beings.

I also found this VERY charming. I love these twins so much now. They all knew that the demon guys were not big fans of sunlight, but Ethan and Aiden still insisted on being Scott's bodyguards "all day and all night." FAIR ENOUGH.

Meanwhile Stiles tried to show Scott that he'd been the one to write commands to Doug Jones to murder Kira, but somebody had erased the blackboard and also his glowing key was missing!

Um again, a CHARMING scene. Scott not only accepted what Stiles was saying at face value, he reassured him that Stiles just simply isn't a murderer so there must be some other explanation. Scott is such a good friend. Poor Stiles though, he was looking very rough and raggedy here. Sleep deprivation is no joke! Unless you are a photo-recapper in which case everything is a joke. #cry4help

Meanwhile Mr. Argent wanted to regroup and try again to contact that Yakuza guy. The reason was that he felt the Yakuza guy would know how to defeat the firefly demons, but since the Yakuza guy was shy they'd have to pose as arms dealers and pretend to sell him a very expensive gun that Mr. Argent keeps safe behind plexiglass. Needless to say Isaac and Allison would NOT be going to school that day.

Oh and then there was THIS PART. Quick question: Were you in the mood to cry prior to watching this episode?

Plotwise, pretty straightforward: Stiles' medical conditions were worsening. Insomnia, anxiety, hallucinations, just a smorgasbord of Grade-A mental issues. Mrs. McCall's solution, of course, was to shoot him up with a sedative so he could get some proper Z's. That made me nervous because whenever the parents would do that in the Freddy movies, things would not turn out well. In this case it turned out pretty well though.

Except he accidentally called her MOM when he was dozing off. At that point you probably had to pause your DVR so that you could find the pieces of your heart that had exploded everywhere. My living room was a mess. TOO MUCH. TOO MUCH. Too much. And Mrs. McCall's subtly devastating reaction? Ugh. I'm getting emotional just thinking about this.

But this scene wasn't JUST about murdering us with emotions. There was a very fascinating discovery that Mrs. McCall made because she is a PRO-ACTIVE THINKER unlike 95 percent of the parents on other supernatural teen shows. She remembered there had been another patient with symptoms identical to Stiles'. But WHO was it?

Oh, thanks, suggested hashtag. Way to undercut the sense of discovery and poignancy. (Somebody please kill all suggested hashtags please PLEASE.) Anyway. A perfect scene between two perfect characters. And then a perfect twist. WHAT IS GOING ON? Oh man, whatever it is, it doesn't seem like a good thing, I'll tell you that right now.

This looks like a good thing, however:

Isaac wore Allison's dad's suit! And he claimed that he looked terrible and awkward but our eyeballs begged to differ. Still though, he felt like an impostor trying to pose as an arms dealer selling a musket gun to the Yakuza (fair enough), but Allison is a very excellent ladyfriend and she gave him a shot of go-go juice to perk him up.

Unless I'm mistaken that was their FIRST KISS right? It was very adorable. Oh, and then THIS happened:

"Bad to the Bone" was not actually playing when Isaac walked into a Yakuza warehouse and doffed his shades, but IT KIND OF WAS.

But right away we knew that the men working for the former Yakuza bossman were NOT what they seemed.

I mean, we all walk into rooms with our werewolf nails outstretched, right? All the classiest werewolves do that. But oh right, here was the whole plan: Isaac was supposed to distract the guards with the sale of a priceless gun, and meanwhile Mr. Argent and Allison were going to sneak in and confront the Yakuza dude directly. So these Isaac scenes were all charming because he was merely trying to stall everybody by drawing out the sale as long as possible.

In my opinion Isaac ended up being right: He really did just seem like a teenager in an ill-fitted suit. Still though, he GOT RESULTS:

The Argents were IN THERE.

Meanwhile Scott and Kira snuck off to his house to better protect themselves from shadow demons or whatever. That's when she busted out her Japanese folklore book and told us more about her kitsune properties.

Apparently there are 12 kitsune with different abilities (like Pokemon or something) and Kira's variation has multiple tails and seems very chill, except in her book there was a picture of a foxfire kitsune (foxfire is her type, like the Angelina Jolie movie) fist-fighting some wolves, so who knows what that will mean. Then Scott and Kira almost kissed on the mouth but suddenly there was a racket downstairs!

Agent McCall had a security system on his laptop that takes peoples' pictures when they use it and he found out that Scott and Kira had been using his laptop to charge her cell phone the other night. For a second Scott seemed very busted, but then he was all sassy to his dad like, 'Get outta my face dad!' (paraphrasing). And then the sun went down which meant the demon warriors were on the way.

Then the Yakuza bodyguard got tired of Isaac's games and outed him.

Meanwhile the Argents made their move and finally confronted the Yakuza guy who had all of the info that they wanted! (Also he was played by Emily's sensei from Revenge. But the sensei POST-face transplant, I guess.)

It was a classic Father-Daughter double-team and the guy didn't even stand a chance!

Meanwhile, just when it looked like Scott's dad couldn't get more useless, at least he bore witness to THIS nightmare in the living room:

AND THEN HE GOT STABBED WITH A GHOST SWORD! Nobody was sad. Kira was just exercising good manners when she screamed.

It was kind of just a courtesy scream. Anyway, then all the shadow warriors invaded and a big monster brawl broke out!

And there were surprise guests!

Haha it turned out Derek had been following Scott around all day and all night like the twins had threatened to do. I had been missing Stalker Derek (Stalker Derek was a big part of Season 1), so this was a big return to form!

Oh then the twins showed up! I know they don't really combine into a brute Alpha anymore, but I was still kinda hoping they would for old time's sake. Oh well.

So anyway, that's when they realized they needed to set off the monster alarm system that Deaton had set up, which involved basically pushing all the ghost demons out the front door and then using magic powder to create a forcefield. (We all have security systems like this, no big deal.)

So anyway, that's what they did:

Haha, those firefly toots were BANNED, man. Stay on the porch, dummies.

Meanwhile Mr. Argent and Allison were FINALLY getting answers about just who those demon warriors even were.

This is where my brain just could NOT keep up. But let me try to explain this. Those guys are known as Oni, and they are a force of nature that tracks down dark spirits. So they'd been going through Beacon Hills looking for a dark spirit that had escaped and had been capturing/branding the monsters who were clear. In the flashback scene the one Yakuza guy was an evil kitsune and they killed him. Now they were looking for a new dark spirit and I guess we were supposed to believe that was Kira. Also this guy, whose named was Silverfinger, felt that he owed Argent his life because Young Argent had fired a gun in an Oni's face and broke his mask. I don't know. It was a cool story though.

Meanwhile back at the house, the Oni were starting to break through the force field!

I was glad the writers didn't cop out and make Scott's dad unconscious for this whole scene. Nope! He was alive and perceptive during all this insanity. Hopefully it gives him a more chill 'tude toward Sheriff Stilinski. He even sort of admitted that he'd been a bad father or wrong about junk, I don't know. I was honestly more concerned about the stains he was leaving on that duvet. Ugh, Mrs. McCall just could not catch a break!

Then the demons broke through!

But Allison had called Scott on the telephone and told him that when it came to deal with these guys there was nothing they could do but peacefully allow them to do their jobs. And he had such faith that he and Kira were not dark spirits that he took her hand and they stepped up for examination.

And guess what? BOTH CLEAN! No dark spirits here. Way to waste everybody's time you big firefly weirdos. Where can Mrs. McCall send the cleaning bill?

But then at the hospital THIS HAPPENED:

STILES IS THE DARK SPIRIT! STILES! IS THE DARK SPIRIT! And also, wow, that whole army of ghost demons was controlled by one little firefly, sort of like Krang in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So Dark Stiles ripped it out and it died!

Then Scott walked in and Stiles went back to normal.

And then the firefly evaporated. Circle of life.

How was THAT for a twist, everybody? I will answer that question for you: It was an amazing and riveting and incredible twist. Stiles! Part of me was weirded out because I liked that he was always pretty much the human character who still seems as formidable as the monsters. I realize his possession probably won't be permanent. But still, this is amazing. He's secretly a villain! That was quite frankly a reveal I didn't see coming and I LOVE not seeing things coming. Love it.

"Silverfinger" was an instant classic for me. It seems weird every single week raving about an episode only to then see another episode I like even better the following week, but that's how the world works right now, and that's especially how Teen Wolf works. This was an episode firing on all cylinders: Insanity, shocks, action, and a huge dose of feels. What more could you want out of a TV show? Literally nothing more.

So good.

BYEEEE

QUESTIONS

... Did you expect that final twist?

... Will Scott's dad chill out finally?

... Was the death of one of the twins foreshadowed by Derek's question asking whether they'd die for Scott? If so, which twin will bite it?

... Which relationship is more compelling to you: Allison-Isaac or Scott-Kira?

Price, I'm surprised you didn't mention this since you mentioned "Tower Prep" before - young Mr. Argent was played by Max Lloyd-Jones, who played Conrad in episode 11 of Tower Prep.

It was quite clear to me that Stiles was the evil spirit. With all the possessed shit he was already doing. In a way I'm very excited about this, a major plotline to my favourite character. On the other hand I'm afraid what they'll do to Stiles now.

Scott's dad will hopefully stop being a complete douche but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If one of the twins croaks, I'm hoping for the straight one.

Both romances are very good. But the friendship thing here is even better. And Scott's mom being the mother for all these poor motherless boys. I guess the twins will move in soon?

Isaac suited up, with dark sunglasses in a show where Linden Ashby is a co-star? That was such an amazing Johnny Cage entrance! Perfection! And I knew the Yakuza guy will be play by non other than Shang Tsung aka Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa :D I really do love Mortal Kombat the movie.

Ninjas are always awesome. They were kinda like Nazgûls. And Nazgûls are awesome too. So basically TW made Nazgûl Ninjas. How perfect is this? It's like over 9000 perfect.

And Stiles. OMG. Level of the drama around him is so absolute it's hard to express with words. I cannot wait how this story rolls out. It's highly unlikely Stiles will die. But if the Sheriff dies... I will stop watching.

And where the hell is Deucalion? I miss Gideon Emery and his voice!

Derek asked the twins if they would die for scott. Did Derek ask his mom about true alphas? And she told him to protect him and he would now die to protect Scott

So... does this mean Stiles' mom was also possessed by a dark spirit (maybe the same one?) since they had the same mental probs? Or did their shared mental probs just make Stiles a better possession candidate and sort-of dying last season gave the dark spirit access to him? I dunno, but my brain is now broken.

I knew stiles was who they were looking for as soon as they said they were looking for a dark spirit. I mean come on with the way the last episode ended with the writing on the board it was obvious! I think one of the twins took a pilot for another show and might be leaving from what I saw of the comicon youtube clips so that might be whats up.

Things I love about TW at this point:
  • Awesome recaps Price - you the best
  • Parents are not stupid and some are superbadass ie Daddy Argent & Mummy McCall (say unlike those lame ones on TVD or The Secret Circle) and they participate in their kids supernatural adventures
  • Allison is the badass in the couple whether with Isaac or Scott - Very much against the usual cliche where the guy is all badass and the girl is a sweetheart... Same with Lydia who is a badass banshee although she had pretty tough hook ups first Jackson/Kanima then the less nice twin (can't tell them apart)
  • Not obvious twists ie Stiles is possessed!!! And it's a baddie...

I actually really like Kira and Scott together. I hate Allison and Issac. Issac is a pessimist. The hashtag didn't ruin the plot that it was Claudia. You can see her name on the file. The main thing i want for this show is for Stiles to not die, and for a STYDIA MARTINKSI moment.

What really irritated me was Scott was so intent on protecting Kira, who could probably protect herself if given the opportunity, but he paid no mind to Stiles until he was in the hospital with his mom and dad, knowing Stiles was having the worst time with the darkness thing, he thought also thought he was the one hurting people as well.

As far as Scott knew at the time the demons were coming for supernatural creatures, which made Stiles safe. There was also no indication Stiles was in any immediate danger. Remember he chose not to burden Stiles with his information because he felt he had enough going on already.

Scott isn't always portrayed as the brightest spark in the woodpile - so maybe he just hadn't thought that thru - and as in turned out she wouldn't have been able to stop the Oni in any case.

In Scott's defense, Stiles has been down-playing his problems in recent episodes when he's around Scott. I seriously doubt he told Scott about going to the hospital before doing so, and Scott probably had to rely on his mother to tell him. It's hard to hold Scott accountable for things he's not being told when he thinks shadowy smoke-ninjas are out to kill him (and Kira, who may be supernatural and powerful but doesn't yet know how to use any of it).

I was surprised that during the blackout no one thought to erase the numbers BEFORE Stiles was able to return and figure out it was his handwriting. I mean, who leaves a message written to a psychopathic child-murderer to kill a student on the board at the school?!

That said, I think the implication is supposed to be that Stiles was the one to erase the board, just like he probably hid his own key from himself. The nogitsune seems hellbent on keeping Stiles out of the loop and covering his tracks as he's found out.

I got that, I just thought it was funny that they were so frightened and appalled that the board got erased at all. It's not like it was a few minutes later.

On the other hand they had reported it to Scott's dad and that would make it evidence, so it probably shouldn't have been erased.

I can't decide... On the one hand it feels untenable that humans can keep up when supernatural goes apeshit crazy, esp. those without weapons/martial arts training (ie Stiles vs. Allison who is totally badass with her weapons & family brainwashing since she was a toddler)... On the other hand, if all human characters start getting special powers, the point of supernaturals living amongst human in peace, harmony and such gets lost...

I am so disappointed with the results of this poll, possessed Stiles, awesome, supernatural Stiles just doesn't sit right with me, Stiles being human was essentially what made him Stiles, a human character in a very much supernatural world. I won't say I'll stop watching the show, but I'd be disappointed, especially since the only other human character (Alli) is theorized to be killed off this season.

Yes, I prefer a human Stiles. I'm disapointed with the results too. But in all the forums (even in TW FB) this is the result too.

I agree, though I think the wording of the poll potentially confuses temporary possession by a supernatural creature with "turning supernatural" permanently, and might be an influence on the results. But yeah, real Stiles needs to stay human, especially since he's so good at it.

Yeah, you have a good point here. I tried to do the poll the most simple. But judging by the comments I think that people understand that being possessed(If this really is what is hapenning to Stiles) don't turn you in a supernatural being, A possessed Stiles is a human Stiles if he is exorcised he will be the same Stiles. But like I said you have a good point here. On MTV site the results are: human (58%) and supernatural (42%). In TW FB supernatural have 1,227 likes and human 685 likes.
I have to said that I'm surprised that many people want a supernatural Stiles. :(

I get the idea but I disagree. I think that Stiles (and Danny) have been SOMETHING for a while - the same way that Lydia was SOMETHING long before Jennifer told us that she was a Banshee. I think that Stiles has been becoming a Druid since the second season. Since the first episode he has been living with psycho/neurological problems that could mark the potential to be some sort of magic user. Last episode put it as far back as his mother.

I like Isaac and Allison. It's not a "forever" relationship, but most high school relationships shouldn't be. It's not as innocent or sweet as Scott's burgeoning flirtation with Kira, but it's familiar. It's steamy, a little dangerous, and a little sad. They're both kind of broken and they've both experienced each others' worst moments.

Interestingly, though, despite his sexy overtures—his mental undressing of her, his actual undressing of himself, his blunt questions about her sexual satisfaction—Isaac's first kiss with Allison seemed remarkably innocent. In a moment in which he wasn't feeling particularly manly, she kissed him. He didn't even touch her in return. She took his hand and initiated the ass caress. Like her dream of him early this half-season, Allison's the one with the sexual experience. Suddenly, Isaac's sexual experience may not much. The moment was better for it.

I think everyone forgets that, in the first ep, Stiles had a nightmare. In this nightmare, he had Lydia by his side (his anchor). The bedroom door opened and she repeatedly told Stiles to stay away from the door. He said 'what if something comes in'. Instead of shutting the door, he opened it and walked through it, towards the Nemeton. Deaton said they have to close the door in order to regain sanity but Stiles is the only one of the three who actually opened the door and connected with the Nemeton (or however you spell it). He must have let the bad spirit in at that point. He also didn't mention that there was a door in his dream when Deaton mentioned it. Which makes me think he wasn't aware of it entirely. On another note, the word Nematode is the word for a parasite or worm that humans can contract, they use your body for their sustenance.

I think Silverfinger was saying that he looked like he was getting up to fight back against the Oni, but in actual fact he was getting ready to run away. From what I could gather, running away was a great dishonour among his people (still can't figure out who his 'people' are exactly; ninjas?!) and would have cost him his head. Instead, Argent shooting the mask allowed the Oni to flee and saved Silverfinger from being a coward by fleeing first. He got his finger chopped off for...not dying? That part is lost on me.

Enjoying the random Alison, Mr. Argent, Isaac grouping; I'm assuming, like any other father, Argent is now in denial about tops off situation!! ;) Wow was that a cringe moment!! Also noticed that Alison and Isaac had a nice day off school there! Isaac was super cute in his suit, notice he will not leave Alison's side? On Scott's orders! 'If she's going, I'm going'. Although he obviously cares for her himself now.

I really didn't click on to the 'Scott's mum has to set the alarm' thing at all when he said it to Kira! Felt a bit daft when I realised he mentioned Deaton helped them set it earlier! Scott's mum is badass, loving the parentals in this show, missing the Sheriff, he must have a contracted week off or something.

Can I just add that Scott is great? As far as leads go on TV, he is not annoying in the slightest and I root for him every week. He's not cocky or self-serving; when he says he's the true alpha, I don't feel like I want to punch him for saying so, I feel triumphant for him; his new romance is sweet and true to his character and he has never killed or compromised his integrity. The writers have kept him consistent yet let him grow significantly which is a hard thing to do without making the character a complete dick (re. Elena TVD).

On another note, it's possible Stiles' mother was just Schizophrenic and not possessed. The bad Kitsuni could be preying on the vulnerabilities in Stiles' mind.

Also, what the hell does MVP mean???

Um, yes I expected that final "twist" as soon as they said they were looking for a dark spirit. I immediately said Styles out loud to no one in particular because I watch it alone but yeah, saw that one coming a mile away. It was still cool to see him in action. THAT was bad-azz!

I hope scott's dad chills out since they unfortunately didn't kill him off!

Hmmm, I hope it's not forshadowing. I like the twins. Please don't die twins!

Allison-isaac. Scott-kira are disney cute right now. I like the umph of allison-isaac!

I realized something. The Oni completely ignored all the humans, even Allison despite the fact she was a sacrifice and Scott's Mom who was working mountain ash mojo. They only went after people that were supernatural beings in their own right not just creature adjacent. Ergo, Stiles is and always has been something. Given that he is the lovable prankster that pushes the other characters to be the best monsters they can be it has to be Kitsune related. Hell, Jeff Davis was quoted describing the role of the Kitsune in almost the exact same way.

Two options here, either Stiles is a supernatural creature and thus his illness resembles his mother cause she was the same.

Or that he is only possessed by a supernatural entity and not himself one. Meaning that once it gets out of him, he's back to being human again.

Could go either way.

I wanted to say that I loved loved this episode. The opening scene was amazing. Like many of you said like Kill Bill. This scene was very bloody and scary. Liked the fact that they tied this with the Argent history. I have to said that Gerard is very cruel and sent his son of 18 yrs. to make a trade with a Yakuza. Wow. Also when the bodyguard of the Yakuza told the real story behind the gun also was a tied to the Argents. Two brothers, one brother kills the other to prevent him to transform into a wolf. This Argents really honor their code.
The scenes between Kira and Scott are really well done. Their scenes are cute but also are important to the plot. In the house scene (that was very cute) Kira shared info with Scott about the Kitsune. Kira said or implied that she is a foxfire kitsune. And said that fox and wolf don't get along well. This is very intriguing because the episode 21 (9 of 3B) is called the The Fox and the Wolf.
I'm with Price I hate the twins very much last season, but in this season they are growing in me. I think their purpuse is more clear now. They want to enter Scott's pack and protect Scott(or prove loyalty to Scott).
The "thanks mom" scene, what more to say, one of the best scene of TW. Dylan is an amazing actor. Maybe for me this is the best season (for now), because Stiles is the center of the plot and Dylan is killing every single scene.
I'm I the only one that scream along with Kira when Scott's dad got stabbed? I feel sorry for him and at the same time I was "you are not going to die without spills the beans" I want to know what this secret is.
The fight in Scott's house was amazing. Very well coordinated and at the same time intense and scary. Very well done TW.
We all know or suspect that Stiles is being possesed or controlled in some way, but at the same time I was in front of my computer saying NO NO NO NO. That's how amazing Dylan's acting is. His facial expressions, his movements, doing it without feeling too exagerated.
And now what will happen with Stiles? The common theory is that in some way he has to be exorcised. And like one said before, the episode 22 (10 in 3B) is called De-Void. But, Who could do that job? Kira, Kira's mother, other person. If the Void is expelled from Stiles's body, how could they destroy it. I think that Kira's mother is going to play a very important part. She is from a very important bloodline and I think that she is more powerful than Kira. If Kira is a firefox kitsune maybe Kira's mother is the most powerful that is the Celestial. The last episode is called The Divine Move. Wow. We have to wait and see.
For now I'm enjoying the ride.
The next episode is called Riddled. And TW is putting riddles. BTW great idea.

This one was resolve and is easy: Darkness.

But the next is more difficult. I'm very bad with riddles.

"What is always coming but never arrives"

Possible the light that is the opposite of darkness. Any idea???

Why was Stiles was so surprised the board was erased?
It's morning and a SCHOOL DAY!
Isn't anyone using that classroom?!?
You know like an actual legitimate teacher?
I'm more shocked that the board was blank, shouldn't it had some material on it or something?

Why is Stiles still affected by the dreams but not Scott or Allison?
They did have some stuff in the beginning, why did it go away
The obvious answer is because he has the dark spirit and they don't but they don't really seem that surprised either...

Also, shouldn't creepy Ninja dudes go after Coyote-Girl and Peter too?!?
What is it with her anyway? Didn't they say she'd be for more than just 30 seconds?

What about the vet? Don't Druid count as supernatural?
Gerard is still something supernatural too, isn't he?

I think that the Coyote-girl will appear again in the last episodes.
Maybe the Shadow Ninjas go first to the persons that have the interaction with the Nemeton: Scott, Stiles, Allison, Lydia, Isaac (for the sacrifice scene). The others: the twins and Kira are always present with Scott's pack and are more visible to the Shadow Ninjas. And the vet he is MIA, he is always a very mystery character and also Stiles put him in the list of suspects last season for being the Darach. I think that in some way the Vet is like Peter always said the amount of info. needed no more no less.

What do you mean the last episodes? The last one was 17 out of 22 wasn't it? Not much has left...

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Oni didn't even try to go after Allison.

I was responding to lifeofpi notion they were after the Nemeton ritual. If that was the case, they'd be after Allison. They aren't.

I guess the Oni sense what's supernatural and what's not? So they didn't even try Allison at all while they could sense that Stiles had some supernatural flowing from him?

... Did you expect that final twist?

Not totally, since the show was trying so hard to make us think the Nogitsune was going to be Kira and also that Stiles' symptoms were connected more to some king of hereditary illness from his mother. Still, that final twist was kind of amazing and made me totally think that Stiles is the less anchored of the three that made the sacrifice, so that he's possessed by the Nogitsune made total sense to me. Also, I can agree with those that compare Stiles' possession with Lydia's from season 2: I can only think that this twist is still legit since the show has weirdly avoided giving any explanation as to how Lydia's possession ever came to be.

... Will Scott's dad chill out finally?

I hope not. It's nice to have parents in the know, but we also need characters that aren't chill, or what real world obstacles would our heroes find?

... Was the death of one of the twins foreshadowed by Derek's question asking whether they'd die for Scott? If so, which twin will bite it?

The straight one. But since the twins are taking more and more in each episode Isaac's place, I think it's Isaac that will bite it.

... Which relationship is more compelling to you: Allison-Isaac or Scott-Kira?

Scott-Kira is melting my heart with every scene, they get each other, Kira's like season 1 Scott.
Last week I said I was going to root for Isaac-Allison, but after last episode I really can't but I think I know why: I loved the growing bromance between Scott and Isaac and now Isaac's on the screen only if there's Allison, it's like he's not part of Scott's pack anymore (and he's the only wolf). And I'm sorry, maybe it's chemistry, but I just don't feel them together, even though it's from 3A they're being pulled toward each other. Finally, Their romance just doesn't make sense when you think about the reasons Allison broke up with Scott.

Yeah, I think the show really screwed up with Isaac. It was really great to see Isaac getting a sense of family along with pack. Melissa was the kind, supportive parent he never had, and Scott was the first person to ever tell him point-blank, "I care." The scene where he and Scott were taking turns watching over Melissa was awesome and I was really hoping to see more in the direction... possibly even a scene where Melissa applies to become his legal guardian. I just feel that so much potential was tossed out with Isaac simply because the actors were dating.

That scene was amazing, I loved the idea of Isaac being a sort of adoptive brother. Seeing the direction the show is taking, isn't it weird to think that they live together? And what about Isaac's relationship with Derek, his maker?

I don't usually mind exposition in Teen Wolf but it was a seriously boring part of this episode. Actually, everything involving the Argents and Isaac was a complete snoozefest for me. I had to rewatch the episode just to catch all the mythology because I zoned out on those scenes entirely. Allison and Isaac were kind of cute before, but the longer their little romance goes on the less interesting I'm finding it. Not sure why but I'm pretty much over both characters right now.

I'm very interested to see how much Agent McCall saw/remembers. Melissa pulled him out of the room pretty quickly, so I'm not convinced that this will be the big reveal for him. I also desperately want to know what the big secret is -- Stiles told him in the last episode that he and his Dad knew it and now he tried to tell Scott something on his death bed. I'm wondering if the new guy they just cast might be Scott's half-brother?

And of course, the real heart of this episode: Stiles. Dylan O'Brien is really just hitting it out of the park this season. Stiles' break down is heart breaking and when he called Melissa 'Mom' I almost cried. When she got his Mom's chart out... i think Stiles is going to realize something is wrong and try to warn people that he's dangerous (he told Scott as much in this episode) but every one around him is going to assume he's just sick like his mother and discount it. Stiles confrontation with the Oni blew my mind. Even knowing that there was something horribly wrong with him and that he had helped Barrow some how I was still completely floored. Seriously, if this show wasn't on MTV, Dylan O'Brien would be getting Emmy and Golden Globe nominations out of this season. I think he still should.

Allison \ Issac is boring because there is no obstacle.
He didn't have to chase her (like Stiles and Lydia). Heck, even Ethan has to make an effort to get Danny.

Nor do they have any other objections (like Scott and Allison's mom)

Even her dad who was pissed off at her going for shirtless hugs with another werewolves seemed to have gotten over it.

No obstacles = Boring.

Shocking (given the length of my post below) but I actually forgot one Stiles (Sterekoid!) question. Why would the Oni test Stiles at all? The exposition by Silverfinger was cagey (the Oni test supernatural "related" creatures) BUT everyone else they tested was actually supernatural. If they are moving into the general population now then why not Scott's mother when they were at the house (she is adjacent to a bunch of supernatural activities - in fact she is literally "related")?

On an unrelated note - the werewolf transformation faces remind me of the vampire transformation faces on Buffy.

Here's what I think

The thing possessing Stiles most likely would go after something powerful, so they were testing supernatural creatures first as they would be the first more likely target.

After that failed (they went after everyone except Peter...)
They started going for the people closest to them.
That's why they targeted Stiles.

Also, since Stiles was clearly in ass kicking mood when they approached him, it's possible he was with his "dark side" active, which is why they could track him down.

Yeah, me too. The werewolf transformation faces of TW remind me of the vampire transformation faces of Buffy.

I think that they tested Stiles for the situation of his mother. His mother was ill but maybe at some time got possessed, because the symptoms open the door to the possession (maybe). Many people said that when a Nogitsune attack a member of a family, then they attack the bloodline. We have to see how Jeff Davis plays this card. For the Nogitsune or the Void maybe are more than one. Spoiler alert: In the promo we saw a man with a bandage that said "we are going to destroy all of them one by one, if you look very close this man has the impression that he have silver fangs. Like the Nogitsune of the Yakusa. Who is this man? So many theories: Barrow (because of the bandages), other Nogitsune other is that Stiles is going to transform into that, etc, We have to wait and see.

I don't think they 'only' test supernatural creatures, I think they just tested them first. There wasn't anything in the yakuza story that indicated that guy was supernatural before he was possessed by the dark spirit.

I thought automatically that Stiles is supernatural because otherwise they would not have tested him. And I thought it might come from one called Claudia Stilinski? For one, the shared symptoms and the fact that the Sheriff is so human it hurts.

Good episode. Not as personally appealing as the the previous two (of the last 3 I actually liked the first one best, the second one second best and this one third best - although I liked them all). This one was especially good though at moving the overall plot forward.

So. Stiles. I take it that Stiles is possessed by Void which is an evil Kitsune as a result of the "door" being open in his mind after the sacrifice.

A few questions though. First, is there more than one Void or is there just one Void that possesses people until banished (apparently by the Oni)? Related questions - why would demons have an issue with an evil Kitsune? They are... well... demons after all.

Second, why was the first Void not able to destroy the Oni? The first Void seemed to have been possessing the Yakuza chief for longer than Stiles has been possessed (Silverfinger explains how being possessed by Void helped the possessed become the chief which suggests it was going on for some time) so you would have though that Void would have been stronger. Unless there are different Voids with different power levels.

Third, are the Oni destroyed or just banished temporarily? I wasn't sure if the firefly dissolving meant it died or just dissolved the way the Oni do in sunlight. Could Scott arriving have interrupted Void from going further and killing the firefly? Also there were 2 other Oni so what is up with them? At Scott's house more than 1 Oni had firefly "eyes" so don't they each have a firefly. I also wasn't sure what happened to the 2 Oni in the room after Stiles pulled the firefly out of the first one - they seemed to almost get absorbed by Stiles. Or did they run away?

Fourth, I assume that Scott, Derek etc. can't see Void the way they can see Kira's Kitsune either because Void isn't constantly possessing Stiles or because Void can mask the effect (Derek says something about Kira being to new or young to be able to do that). Will anyone be shipping Stiles, Derek, and Void (Sterekoid)?

Finally, what is the thinking on whether Void will try to make some deal with Stiles the way it did with the Yakuza chief?

Yeah I don't understand either why would Onis have any problems with Void, but I don't know anything about japanese's mythology, so who knows?

Maybe the Nogitsune possessing Stiles' stronger because he himself was closer to death and darkness - through the sacrifice - than the yakuza chief?

About the Onis, I'm more disturbed by the fact that two episodes ago they kept on disappearing so that the wolves couldn't touch them and in last one they were totally kicked out of the house...

Finally, I think the Nogitsune can hide its aura. Also, Kira is an actual Kitsune and not a human possessed right? So she herself has to learn I guess... does that mean that some Kitsunes have a body and some don't? Weird.

Did anyone else notice in the screencap where Kira is screaming that Melissa behind her looks nothing like Melissa? I even went back & watched the whole scene- when she walks in and when she runs to Scott's Dad after the stabbing it's obviously her, but in that one shot she looks different, even her hair is a little different, like it's a wig. And in the scene right before she's out of focus. I'm wondering if they used a take of the scream with Melissa's stand-in for some reason. Not sure why they would do that when you can clearly see the face but who knows. And if it is Melissa, then boy does she look different lol.

I don't think either of them will die. Derek's little checkov gun is more of a question of would they be willing to die for him.

It's more likely that they'll try to take the bullet but it wouldn't kill them, if you get my drift.

1. I started to realize it was Stiles when Scott and Kira went up to the Oni. I wonder what Stiles will do next.
2. Don't care, but I wish I had a mom like Mama McCall. She is the greatest TV mom to ever be shown on any program. If they hurt her or kill her off, I will literally cry.
3. Maybe both since the actors have signed on for a new show on HBO. It's called The Leftovers. But anyway its better for one of both of them to die then for Isaac/Stiles/Derek/anyone else everyone likes to die.
4. I'm rooting for Scott and Kira, they're so cute. Kinda like a pair of puppies. Isaac and Allison is good too, but they just seem more like sexual tension than love. Either way hope the two pairs work out in some way.
5. Isaac was so close to being MVP of the episode, but the real MVP was Mama McCall. Also I think we all need more Derek in our lives.

First of all: WHERE THE HELL WAS LYDIA?

Second of all: I have levels of cynicism to rival Tim Surette but when Melissa was tucking in Stiles for his drug-induced nap and he was clutching her hand and uttered those two little words "thanks Mom", my heart literally melted! I was just thinking how sweet would it be if he said something like "thanks for being like a mom to me, " or words to that effect, but the fact that it was accidental made it so much more poignant. Melissa McCall is easily the best parent ever created for a teen drama (supernatural or otherwise). In fact, Melissa Ponzio almost makes up for a lack of Holland Roden (almost).

Third of all: I guessed that Stiles was possessed by the dark spirit thingy as soon as Silver Finger uttered the words - I really hate it when my brain spoils the surprise. I hope the spirit "jumps" from Stiles to somebody else so that we can have a proper final showdown, but until then it's a great way to really raise the stakes.

Yet another great episode and I'm really appreciating how every scene is given the same care and attention to ensure that it's as good as it can be. I first noticed this in the 3b premier and I'm really happy they've continued with the same level of attention to detail, think about this - how often do you spot a continuity error? Now apply the same question to The Blacklist.
I like the direction they are taking this season, it's different to other shows and it feels original and fresh. If the show keeps this up it's a strong contender for my top ten shows at the end of this year!

1) Lydia can sense death, so just like Bonnie on TVD, expect her to disappear from most of future episodes just so we won't ask ourselves why couldn't she knew about it?

2) I agree. Although this episode was lovely, her scene that will forever remain #1 in my book is telling her teenage boy that your first love isn't your only one.

3) As this show tends to run in circles, I'm guessing most likely Stiles will be bad but not the big bad. Revealing Stiles here is basically the same as revealing Jackson as the Kenema. It's his "boss" they will be after (and I'm guessing there will a "boss" showing up shortly).

4) I was with you up until you mentioned continuity errors... Umm... The show is filled with them. Yes, it has loads of amazing stuff to make up for it, but let's not fall into blind admiration. There are loads of inconsistency in the mythology, their power levels, the relations of the characters and their suroundings etc

I was talking about continuity errors with the way the scenes are shot, not the mythology - which is, quite frankly, ridiculous (but in a good way). For instance, in one shot Isaac is holding an ice cream in his left hand but in the next shot he's holding a cuddly toy in his right hand!

Sorry, something was wrong with the embed.
andarthas-web:
I think, AS IN PREVIOUS SEASONS, we will have TWO villains, one initially introduced as monstrous, who ends up being the lesser of two evils, and one introduced as human, who ends up being worse.

Season 1: The Alpha (-> sassy Uncle Peter) / Kate

Season 2: The Kanima (-> Jackson) / Gerard

Season 3a: The Alpha Pack / The Darach

Right now, it looks like Stiles is the “monstrous” one, so if the series follows the pattern, he’ll end up being the not so bad one.

That of course leaves the question open who will be the true monster……and I’m worried that it might be Allison.

I think the bit about “even if it is your daughter” could be foreshadowing…. and she had the visions that linked her to Kate, the main villain of season 1.

I'm wondering if we've already seen the dual of evil dynamic this Season?

Season 3b: The Oni / Void

I think that fits the model, except for 2 things. First, we are only half way into the Season so it may be too early to have seen all the bad guys. Second, the producers tend to be a bit too fond of the "surprise twist" (I think the success of that approach has dropped every Season).

So, I think the Oni / Void fit them model but there will be something more going on.

We also have whatever Derek's mother told him plus whatever Peter is scheming.

Yeah, like the above poster, I too thought about the Kenema\master connection in relation to Stiles.

Also:

1) We're not sure yet who set the Oni from the Nemeton (they are the fireflies figures, right?)
I don't think it was Stiles

2) We still haven't seen anything in relations to Peter's final scene in season 3a

3) We still have no idea what Derek and his mother chatted about, nor why did Derek just looked freaked out at Peter

4) While we are at it, who kidnapped them and more importantly what they were talking about the she wolf (Derek's mom?)

Plus other loose ends (really? That's all coyote girl's appearances? I doubt it) which makes it more than likely we'll get at the very least another villain.

And with 4 more eps to go, it will be rather quickly.

Anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to this show should know that Stiles is the most dangerous character in the cast. Yeah, there's Kitsunes & Scott's a true Alpha blah blah blah. But Stiles has shown that he's innovative, intelligent, determined, relentless & even kind of cruel when crossed. If there's one person you don't want to be on the bad side of, it's Stiles. He is going to make a fantastic villian.

I mean, need I say more:

So there were some amazing things in this ep and some things not quite so amazing, but forgiveable.

lets start with Argent, amazing story, concerned about why a legitimate appearing arms dealer would be making deals with the yakuza at age 18, seems sort of stupid, but I'll allow it not to interfere with anything else.
It strikes me as weird how very unparent like Chris was when he didn't even put up a token sort of resistance to two highschool kids skipping school, I mean, I think it didn't balance to well with the idea of fitting the supernatural danger into normal highschool life.
Can I also just say, I'm so not a fan of Allison and Isaac, it's the strangest pairing yet, because so far there has been no resolving of the, she tried to slay him like a vampire slayer. Also Kissing? with the disapproving dad 10 feet away? Just a few details that were odd about this whole situation.
I did like Isaacs reproduction of Chris' yakuza deal, shoved in to a dangerous situation, to deal with a guy who desperately needed a manicure.

On the Scott and Kira front... I'm just not convinced with the response to the whole discovering Scott kept the secret of his furry problem, when she was freaking out about being some sort of aura-freak, spirte monster, the scene was very sweet but lacked that tension.

So twins are being endearing following around Scott because the pack is being targeted by an unknown force.
Can I just mention, how typically irresponsible Scott is again? This guy is supposed to be more mature, but he sort of reverted to his season 1 self, where he denied reality a little bit to be with a girl and such.
On that Note, Derek had to respond with doing as he did in season 1 which was watch over Scott because the guy is an idiot who needs supervision.

This is kind of a thing that's been stuck in my craw for a while:
I'm not sure why Scott is not experiencing a period of idiot rashness and power tripping, which is what Derek did after his rise to alpha.
Also Derek needed 3 wolves in season 2, but Scott doesn't?
Scott's basically himself still, there hasn't been a real asshat transformation like Derek had in season 2
So to make matters short, I'm a bit annoyed with the inconsistency here between new Alpha Derek and New Alpha Scott.

On to Stiles who kind of stole the show, which is only right, it's his season after all.
Poor guy is on the edge! But wonderful scene between him and Scott, their friendship is forever.
lets just briefly mention the hospital scene with Melissa, because that was great, moving stuff right there, and the correlation of Stiles and His mom having the same symptoms?
Yeah I mentioned it before, my suspicion that Stiles may not be the void, but something else, relating to whatever was going on with his mom. I thought this most strongly when he kind of went BAMF on the shadow demons, whose single purpose is to find and eliminate dark spirits, seems to me they'd be able to do something against this dark spirit and not get their arses handed to them, but that maybe just me. But it would prove an interesting plot twist.

Kira has no tails, and cannot create electricity or fire, that's what I got out of their conversation, basically she's a dud, she was shown able to absorb electricity, not create it.

The whole McCall house part of the ep was intense, Derek to the rescue, Derek Sassy and completely himself, telling the twins their inadequacies. I'm a big fan of Derek's I can tell you that right now, and I will cry if he dies this season, he's just such a good guy.
I did wonder why the shadow demons stabbed Agent McCall unprovoked...
Some very sweet Scott and Kira scenes, she's worried she's evil he's convinced she couldn't be.

Q1: I did not see the badassness coming, but I was pretty sure there'd be something about Stiles.

Q2: I somehow doubt it.

Q3: Maybe, but there was a lot of foreshadowing this ep, It seems more likely that Ethan will be the one to do it, but to make it more redemption worthy, it could be Aiden coming around at the last second.

Q4: I think It's clear from my rant that Scott and Kira are more compelling while I'm probably the only one who is still not on board for Allison and Isaac.

You're forgetting something crucial between Derek and Scott:

Derek needed to raise a pack instantly. He started with Jackson, then moved on to the other 3 kids (Boyd, Erica and Isaac)
Why? Because he knew the Argents weren't loving him but more importantly he knew (according to the season 2 finale) that the Alpha pack were coming and he needed to guard up.

Scott has neither of those problems. The alpha pack is dismantled and he is with peace with the Argents. In fact he has no need to build up a pack what so ever.

I saw that as more of an instinctive need, because Scott was the one to clarify the need for specifically 3 betas, and how would he know that unless it's some kind of wolf instinct that there needs to be 3.

but Scott has a bigger problem than Derek really, Derek knew what was probably coming, but Scott knows he turned BH into a beacon for supernatural stuff, but he has no idea what that means exactly, so his needs to have a big pack should be greater than Derek's, just because the unknown is always more dangerous than the known.

If you look at it this way, Scott should be much more focus on building a strong pack, but really the guy is back to being the lovable doofus from season 1, it seems in congruent to me at least.

A couple of replies.

Why did the Oni stab Agent McCall. Cuz he EVIL!!!

Why isn't Scott reacting to becoming an Alpha the same as Derek becoming an Alpha?
2 reasons I can think of:
1/ Scott is a sweet guy and Derek is a jerk, well, a bit of a jerk.
2/ Derek stole power from Peter. This power may have been tainted by passing through Peter. Scott gained power by becoming more himself.
BTW, I never saw Derek as power-tripping in the second season. I thought he thought he was behaving the way that he had learned an Alpha was supposed to act.

On that Note, Derek had to respond with doing as he did in season 1 which was watch over Scott because the guy is an idiot who needs supervision.
Preach!!
I find 3A to be a huge bust as far as character development for Scott goes. The whole One True Alpha storyline did him a huge disservice I think. Plus, the writers seemed to forget it actually happened and it was a huge freaking deal. He agian acts like the lost puppy he was at the beginning and still appears to think the world is made of puppies and rainbows. I don't mind that character traits in him but I'm not able to reconcile the idea of an Alpha with who Scott is repeatedly painted at. Maybe he will be finally confronted with the gray of the world with this whole Stiles situation.
I'm not a Scott fan, never was and after the S2 finale he was on my shit list like whoa but I'm liking him in 3B more. It just seems like a step back for him while at the same time the writers are trying to persuade us it's evolution.
Do i make sense? I just was really amused on your take on teh whole Derek/Scott situation

yeah I understand, and I'm with you, not a big Scott fan, season 2 finale really just showed him a truly ugly light.
I like him as a character, the personality is fine, my main issue with the Alpha Scott is that he reverted to his state of mind from season 1 and that he generally always struck me as a follower, he's not especially assertive or leader like.
There are different types of leaders and styles of leadership, but Scott was always more the follow along personality.
But generally this section of the season he hasn't been acting very alpha like, it's sort of like you said, they decided not to do anything about it...
I just found it striking that we're back to Derek watching over Scott and making sure he doesn't get hurt/hurts someone.

Yeah, Scott doesn't show a lot of initiative. That's part of the problem. He isn't really an alpha male, so how can he be an alpha wolf?

Being alpha male and being a jerk are two completely different things.

It's the difference between a leader and a follower.

Humans aren't wolves. Wolf behaviour that inspires loyalty is quite different from being the biggest jerk in the room.

And here I thought I had seen the best Teen Wolf had to offer. Man this show always catches me off guard. I like how it keep me on my toes and stop me from being complacent. Yesterday's episode was another gem from the show which continuously keeps on getting more epic in all the sense with each passing episode. Each moment of last episode whether it was heart tingling Scott-Kira scene, or the smile inducing Alisson and Issac scene, or the chuckle worthy Scott attempt to fool the twins about his powers, each scene of Derek last night, Mr Argent flashback and the best one - the heart wrenching scene between Stiles and Scott's mom - everything was perfect. I just want to say thank you teen wolf for being this amazing.

Kitsune, Oni and Evil Kitsune that looks like Blood+ creature. Only Teen Wolf can pack those monsters in an episode and not look ridiculous. Stiles is unexpectedly evil via possession and then there's that person who released the fireflies from the Nemeton. Since the Oni is evil-looking with fairly good intention, could the person that released them be the same? TW is seriously very interesting.

Yeah, that's my thoughts pretty much. Although aren't the Oni japaneese? Why are they part of the Nemeton?

As for who that person is, it's possibly a new character, but if not and I'd have to guess, I'd go for either of the druid siblings: Deaton or his sister.

I kinda thought it might've been Stiles when they were talking about evil spirits because 1 they were trying to hard to make it seem like Kira and 2 I remembered the talk about the open doors in the 3 characters minds which led me to think something could walk through said door into one of their minds coupled with the fact that Stiles was going slightly crazy and looking rough I thought it must be Stiles. I mean if you put it all together it makes sense, at least to me anyway. I loved how the twins wanted to protect Scott and then later it turns out Derek was also watching over him without his knowledge. I couldn't watch the scene where Alison and Issac were making out as well as her putting his hand on her butt without thinking how awkward it must've been with Chris Argent standing nearby. That scene where Stiles refers to Melissa as mom followed by the close up of her face was so emotional and amazing, Teen Wolf really does just get better and better.

Can anyone tell the difference between the twins unless they are openly doing gay or hetero? I noticed one has darker hair, but I don't know if that's the straight one or the gay one. Twins are confusing.

Aiden has a stronger jawline, that's a bit more forward in profile, and he keeps that mischievous smirk most of the time. Ethan has a bit more of a "baby face" and appears more mellow.

They are the same, even Danny couldn't tell them apart.
Which quite frankly seems like potential for so many weird situations...

Either way, I think one of them got a haircut this episode, but no, I can't tell them apart other than one is team Danny and one is team Lydia

The one who is into Lydia (Aiden) has a higher voice. He's also kinda the less moral of the two. (Ethan was the one who tried to help Scott and Stiles at the end of 3A). In terms of physical attributes its pretty hard to tell. (I mean, does anyone know the difference between the Harry Potter twins?) Even in real life it's hard to tell between identical twins unless you know them well or hang around with them a lot.

I have so far not cared enough about those characters to figure out what the physical differences are, if Ethan is the gay one or the straight one, or even learn the name of the one isn't named Ethan. (One of them is named Ethan, right?)

I'm not a fan of the twins, but they're not as annoying now as they were in 3a. Their parts are smaller now, and they make more sense.

Ethan is the gay one
Aiden is the straight one

Look, we all hate the twins, but without them we won't have Price doing fisting jokes...

Elsewhere it was pointed out that the reason Stiles and Derek haven't met yet may be because Derek would be able to see whatever is possessing Stiles. Which I find really interesting and I hope when they finally share a scene (2 episodes ago was too late) Derek will see Stiles' aura and wonder what is going on. And help.

But shouldn't Scott see Stiles with his wolf eyes?

That is a good question. But he needed to concentrate to see Kira's aura and he was looking for it. Plus, whatever is possessing Stiles is probably better at masking themsleves.

I don't think it's going to be Stiles, he was just too powerful for things that are supposed to be hunting him. I think that he's gonna be something else entirely and that Allison might bite it. The Yakuza guy sorta foreshadowed it to Mr. Argent...

Yeah, but that was *too* obvious of foreshadowing wasn't it?

Maybe I'm reading this too much, but I'm thinking it's going to be a "gotcha" moment.

What if it's not his daughter, what if it's his father (Surely Girard is up to something) or his wife (If Peter could come back, maybe so could she) or his sister (Kate has gotten a lot of reminders lately).

If it really will be Allison... I'll be really disapointed with the obvious line.

Well, you may be right. I guess I attributed the too obviousness of the whole thing to a poorly written dialogue? :)
It could definitely be one of the other Argents, although I read somewhere that Jeff Davis said they may need to change the title sequence next season because of a death so my mind immediately went to Allison. I hope it's not her as well. :/

You're confusing things. He said there would be a death from someone whose been here from day 1 and in another completely unrelated issue he said that the openning credits might need to change.

The first means someone is going to die (personally I'm betting on Peter)

The second one might mean the same or it could mean that people will be *added* to the openning sequence.

1. I really did not expect that twist. I thought they were going to do their creepy eye thing to Stiles just like they did to everyone else. But I really did like the twist. Will be interesting to see Stiles as a villain.

2. I was secretly happy when he got stabbed, because I thought that would mean he would be out of the show. But then I guess we wouldn't find out what it is Stiles knows about him. Apparently he's hiding something.

3. I don't think one twin will die. It will either be both or neither I think. I don't really care either way because I don't think they bring much to the show.

4. I like both couples, but I'm going to choose secret option number 3 - Stiles/Lydia.

There's now an additional way that 4 can happen: Evil Stiles seduces Lydia.

Sigh...I'm old enough to remember when evil Mulder seduced Scully. That was a shapeshifter. The real Mulder interrupted them just as they were about to get busy. The real one was really surprised by what he saw.

That gives me some ideas for a scene that could be pretty funny. Stiles could e.g. wake up next to Lydia for real, and be convinced that it's just a dream.

I think they dropped the Lydia\Stiles relationship. I get the impression that too many people are shipping him with Derek (lol) that they intentionally dropped that question of him liking boys just to keep the shippers happy.

So Stiles will have a few girls to make out with (like the party or the virgin sacrifice thing) but they won't give him a long lasting relationship.

Heck, even Cora preferred to have her head chopped off then be with him ;)

Yeah, I definitely think they are playing a bit on the gay fantasy with Stiles. I have never understood why people would want him with Derek though. I really don't get it, haha.

Hahaha, that video was hilarious. I think it would be pretty interesting if Stiles turned out to be bi. I mean, he wouldn't be gay seeing as he's had an interest in Lydia for ages. And although that video was really funny and I like the chemistry between the actors, I still can't see Stiles and Derek together!

Actually a lot of it has to do with the actors who played a long with it. I recall in one convention someone asked them about future relationships on the show or something and Derek started hugging Stiles and said something like "Well.. you know..."

I'm not familiar with the Mulder/Scully storyline. But it sounds like a pretty cool idea. Not sure if it would work in Teen Wolf or not. One thing that I think would be pretty sweet would be if Lydia is the one bringing genuine Styles back.
