Hugh Laurie isn't nominated for best lead actor in a drama series...but HOUSE is nominated for best drama...that's just stupid. He makes that show what it is and he is a phenomenal actor as well.

It stinks that LOST did not receive a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.

Do this people see TV?

I think that the good shows of this season were not even consider...

I can't understand why Lost (the last year winner) isn't nominee, same as Desperate Housewives... come on people!, other thing that bothers me is that Zack Braff isn't even considered as outsiding lead actor in a comedy series... Then I don`t see Lauren Grahamam anywhere... come on she is the best actress in a comedy series nowdays... Well I hope that this year JAne Kaczmareck win... she deserves it

No Mary-Louise Parker for Weeds is a CRIME!!!! Also disappointing to see House in top catagory but no nod for Hugh Laurie. House wouldn't be what it is without him in that role! I'm glad to see Martin Sheen get in for his final year as President, though! Give him the freakin Emmy already. I mean SEVEN amazing years, it is time!

I'm fine with the Variety Series, Animation and Reality Show nominations. In fact, they're perfect.

However, the Drama and Comedy noms are beyond awful. LOST did stutter in its second season, but it has dramatic oomph (unlike 24), isn't THAT tired (like The West Wing/Sopranos), and actually has a continuing storyline that we care about (unlike your typical hospital procedurals, Grey's Anatomy and House)..........not to mention that FX has shows like The Shield, Rescue Me, etc...that blow all this **** out of the water.

Comedy.......oy! Last season was the best year ever for Comedies.........Philadelphia, Entourage, Extras, Curb, Scrubs, Chris, Earl, Office, Arrested Development.......that's quite a block of goodness. Unfortunately, two of the three weakest in that bunch from last year (Curb which had a pretty bland season, Scrubs which started off shaky) are both nominated. Even worse, Two And A Half Men. Under the old process, laugh track shows would have a hard time sneaking in nowadays, but I'm sure some old geezers laughed at a show that felt closer to their comfort level (unfunny, multicamera)........anyway, tons of snubs in all of the Comedy categories (especially the acting picks).

Best nominations: Jaime Pressley and Will Arnett
Wordst nomination: Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (sorry, gal)

Now for more ALTERNATIVE/SUBSTITUTE NOMINATIONS

Best Comedy: INSTEAD OF "Two and a Half Men"
WHY NOT "My Name is Earl"

Best Actress: INSTEAD OF Lisa Kudrow and Dreyfuss
WHY NOT Portia de Rossi and Jessica Walter for "Arrested Development"

Best Actor: INSTEAD OF Kevin James and Charlie Sheen
WHY NOT Jason Lee for "Earl" and Jason Bateman for "Arrested Development"

Supporting Actress: INSTEAD OF Alfre Woodard (who should be nominated in Drama, I think)
WHY NOT Jenna Fischer for "The Office"

Supporting Actor: INSTEAD OF Jon Cryer and Sean Hayes (who only needs nominated so many times, folks)
WHY NOT Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski for "The Office"--their antagonistic chemistry is part of what makes the show so fantastic

Hmm, I am quite glad to see Peter Krause nominated for "Six Feet Under" and the "Lost" nod for best screenplay. But to the other nominations I either am irked or indifferent. So here are my ALTERNATIVE/SUBSTITUTE NOMINATIONS. Take that, Emmys.

Best Drama: INSTEAD OF "Grey's Anatomy" or "The West Wing," WHY NOT "Veronica Mars" and "Lost"

Best Actor: INSTEAD OF...okay, I can't really argue with these, but they could have made an extra space for Hugh Laurie.

Best Actress: INSTEAD OF Geena Davis, WHY NOT Kristen Bell for "Veronica Mars"

Supporting Actress: Hmmm...okay, once again, won't argue.

Supporting Actor: INSTEAD OF Oliver Platt and Gregory what's-his-name, WHY NOT any supporting male cast member from "Lost" (my pick this season: Josh Holloway as Sawyer) and Jason Dohring for "Veronica Mars"

Oustanding Writing: INSTEAD OF any "Grey's Anatomy" nods, WHY NOT "Not Pictured" from "Veronica Mars" and "Live Together, Die Alone" from "Lost"

Outstanding Directing: Cut out one of those "Sopranos" nods and include the "Alias" finale.

Where is Hugh Laurie? What about script writing for HOUSE? Oma Epps as best supporting actor? These 3 should be up there. The other nominations are a so-so and not including Laurie is just highway robbery

It is unbelievable how few nominations Lost got. Especially that it is not nominated for best drama series considering not only did it win the emmy last year for best drama, but it also won the peoples choice award, the saturn award, the sag award, and every ther award possible.

I think it stinks that WILLIAM FITCHNER did not receive a nomination for his superb work on INVASION this year. That man can act.

SEcondly...another one they ignored was FOREST WHITAKER in The Shield this year. STUNNING performance by him.

Can't understand why LOST did not at least receive a nomination for Best Dramatic Series.
Very baffling that one.

NEVER have felt BOSTON LEGAL should be in the DRAMA category...too much goofiness ...should be in the comedy category if you ask me.

Minarvia: what the h*ll are you talking about. Lost was only on 1 emmy award yet. And that was last year. God...you are funny.
Lost would deserve best drama, rest I dont give a crap. 24 , Prison Break should be awarded too.

I'm very glad that Law and Order SVU actors are nominted, but I'm pissed off that Gilmore Girls was not nominated in any catgories. The writing on that show as well as the acting is amazing. They snobed them!

Just because "Lost" is always the number one show on TV.com doesn't mean it's the best. Quality and popularity are not one in the same. "24" had its best ratings this year, but this certainly wasn't its best season.

This season, "Lost" just wasn't that good. It ended all right, but there were a TON of filler episodes that I couldn't help but not give a crap about. The season moved ridiculously slow, which they did try to make up for by having some things actually happen in the last few episodes. For the most part, though, the show was pretty worthless this year, and that's why it isn't up for any Emmy's.

Other shows, however, like "The Shield," "Rescue Me," and "Battlestar Galactica" had spectacular seasons last year and were completely robbed of any nominations (sure, Denis Leary got a nod, but that ain't much for one of the best shows on television). I also didn't expect "BSG" to get nominated since it's sci-fi, but it's definitely more intelligent than the likes of "24" and "The West Wing."

I'm glad Lost didn't get nominated, maybe the producers will think about how much of a letdown it was all year long.

Great to see Arrested Development for Best Comedy Series, hopefully they win it one last time.

Nice to see: nominations for Steve Carell, Will Arnet, Greg Itzin and Arrested Development for best comedy. I hope they win just to stick it to FOX. No nominations for a sub-par season of LOST
We was robbed: Michael Chiklis was more deserving than Keifer 'we are running out of time!' Sutherland. Forest Whittaker, Edie Falco, Rainn Wilson should have been considered.
What the..?: Two and a Half Men? Huh? Cryer and Sheen and best comedy. I'd rather watch an According to Jim marathon. I dont get Kevin James either. Oh well.

What the heck... no Lost? This is screwed up. All these shows are crap. Who voted for these "shows". They all suck! Lost is the best!
Reply

Lost probably didn't get nominated because the second season, aside from a few episodes, sucked. The first season was great and fresh and a lot of fun to follow, but season two was just boring and didn't go anywhere with most of the mysteries from the first season.

If the people who picked these awards actually watched FX instead of the crap that's on the networks, these award shows would be a hell of a lot different.

The Shield and Rescue Me should both be up for Best Drama. They're both far better than all of the other shows nominated. Michael Chiklis should be up for Best Actor. Forrest Whitaker should be up for Best Supporting. Both shows should have AT LEAST one episode up for Best Writing.

The Emmy's, like all other award shows, are worthless.

It is nice to see Leary get the Acting nod, but after the episode a few weeks ago where he "raped" his ex-wife, he won't win. Award shows tend to stray as far as possible from controversy (unless it's the Oscars, in which case they run toward it as fast as possible).

Wow, The Shield really got hosed !! It is really hard to swallow that they didn't at least get nominated for Series, Lead Actor and writing. Also, apparently The Sopranos only had writing and directing and no actors ... and Lost surely deserved a nomination or two. The West Wing seems to be getting a sympathy vote for some reason. And then we have Hugh Laurie ... he IS House !! How can the show be nominated but not him? Very strange indeed !!!!
