Watch the First Trailer for Showtime's The Affair, Starring Joshua Jackson, Dominic West, Maura Tierney, and Ruth Wilson (VIDEO)

Who's ready for some steamy sex and marital heartbreak in the Hamptons? Showtime has set a premiere date and released the first trailer for its upcoming drama The Affair, which stars Dominic WestMaura Tierney, Joshua Jackson, and Ruth Wilson. The provocative series will premiere Sunday, October 19 at 10pm, the network announced Friday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

First announced at the TCA winter press tour in January, The Affair comes from executive producer Sarah Treem (House of CardsIn Treatment) and will present both the male and female perspectives of marital infidelity in kind of a "he said, she said" style, using the memory biases of individual characters "to both misdirect and intrigue."

Here's the set-up: Wilson plays Alison, a waitress in the Hamptons who's trying to recover from an as-yet-unknown tragedy. She's married to Jackson's character Cole, who's struggling to save his family ranch from collapsing under financial strife. Things get complicated when Alison starts sleeping with West's character Noah, a teacher and aspiring novelist from New York who's spending the summer in Montauk with his wife of 17 years, played by Tierney. Or more succinctly, as Hitfix's Alan Sepinwall put it"McNulty & Alice Morgan cheat on Lisa Miller & Pacey." Check out the trailer, then weigh in: Will you be tuning in for The Affair?

The Affair premieres Sunday, October 19 at 10pm on Showtime.

I'm gonna tune in at least for a 4-episode test. Joshua Jackson is worth it!

I'm going to give it a try because of Joshua Jackson, but I have a feeling that the murder/accident is Joshua getting killed. So I hope they at least keep him on the flashbacks.

I'm calling it, someone's gonna kill Joshua Jackson!!
I'll probably watch the first episode, but more than that I'm not sure, though Showtime has made some cool shows.

Jeez and I love Joshua Jackson but am so tired of all this boring shows with affairs been their central theme! We really don't want to see that, not been funny but it just makes u dislike the characters no matter what the situation is and you cant root for a cheater??? Yeah i will give it a pass thank you.

I have to say this cat looks very impressive! All have excellent TV / Movie work to fall back on but this show looks like a glorified stylish soap opera!??
I'm not sure if I will watch the whole series but I will watch the pilot but I'm not hopeful at all...

Why do I always mistake Jackson for Ewan McGregor? They don't exactly look alike.

I like Ruth Wilson but I can't see watching this.

Oh Dominic, How the mighty have fallen!
Fantastic actor relegated to the abysmally mundane.
Its a damn shame. What would bunk say?

Why still Pacey? Can't we say Peter Bishop now?

Joshua Jackson will always be Pacey.... Peter Bishop was fun and all, but he'll be Pacey.

Good to see Dominic West back but the premise does sound terrible.

Would skip it, but it has Joshua Jackson in, who can skip that?

It sounds like there's a police interrogation going on so maybe there's more to it than just McNulty and Alice Morgan getting it on. I'll check it out.

I'll watch it with the sound off and fast forward to scenes with Pacey, that's all I am committing to...

The only reason i would even consider watching is Joshua Jackson

Ugh this looks cringeworthy like hell. I might be tempted checking a movie with this premise but how do you keep this going for a whole series? How many longing looks and near-misses can you have before this a snooze fest? The murder mystery could make it more intriguing but seems very downplayed in the trailer. So far, this is a pass for me

I'll definitely check it out, give it a few episodes and then decide.

Awful trailer, they could've cut it down to 40 seconds. I'll probably check out the first episode, but it doesn't look too promising.

I will be tuning in to this for sure. Especially now that Homeland's no longer on my appointment TV list.

I love Ruth Wilson, but I have a feeling I won't love this show.

He say there is not butt, but this is showtime they will show Joshua Jackson butt and it will make the series even worst.

If Dominic West is in it, I'm in !

The drama police inside my mind are telling me, "Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along". But the ensemble's solid and so I'll give it a spin, even though it screams film script.

Tough call. I'm not particularly interested in the plot at all -- the examination of infidelity better not be a new trend in shows -- but I love this cast so much.

I mean I hope they make the journey worthwhile

"As-yet-unknown tragedy". Which one is dead? Tierney or PACEY?(Joshua Jackson) There's no mystery in that(so called "accident"). I hope they know how to tell the story in an interesting way because so far looks boring and predictable.

Ahah maybe one day I'll understand such Dawson's Creek jokes. A few years ago I watched season 1 and really enjoyed it but never found the time for season 2.

If the cast is great and the writing holds up, I can get past the horrendous title and the not-so-exciting premise.
