There's still a week of World Cup mayhem to go, but football haters--and anyone who lost interest when England got booted out--shouldn't find it hard to keep themselves entertained. Those kind schedulers have planted plenty of non-football treats to clash with the matches, including the final on Sunday 11th. We've gathered up the highlights.
From 3.00pm the Netherlands play Brazil, then tonight from 7pm, it's Uruguay V Ghana on ITV1. Though a lot of glass-is-half-full England supporters folks have adopted Ghana as their second choice, they may not be able to resist watching the men's semi finals at Wimbledon from 12.30 on BBC1 and 2. Britain's lone tennis star, Andy Murray, takes on the mighty Rafael Nadal.
Non-sports fans, meanwhile, can avoid the coverage by tuning in to Five USA at 7.00pm for a double helping of CSI. It's NY first, followed by Miami at 8.00pm. The team investigates some pirates. Aaarggh!
On Saturday from 7.00pm, BBC1 is showing the last of the quarter finals: Spain V Paraguay. Pretend it's not happening by watching classic western, The Magnificent Seven (6.30pm on Channel 4). Professional shooters train a scared township to defend themselves against bandits. This pistol-totting gang makes footballers look like flower girls.
Another bunch of boys who aren't afraid to show off their masculinity are Top Gear's fearsome four. The new series just started and you can catch the first episode repeat on BBC3 from 7.00pm. Jeremy Clarkson wonders why three-wheeler cars never took off and proceeds to drive around in one.
If you'd prefer to watch genteel beta males go about their business then there's an all-new episode of geek comedy, The Big Bang Theory on E4 at 7.25pm. Leonard tells Penny he loves her, but does she reciprocate?
Tuesday sees the first of the semi finals play out (channel tbc) from 7.30pm. However, you do have other options. Gok's Fashion Fix is on from 8.00pm on Channel 4. He returns to see if biker and Mayor of Seaford, Tracy Willis, has reverted back to wearing baggy clothes and leathers.
Or, there's a fun sounding wedding documentary on BBC3 at 8.00pm. Don't Tell The Bride follows a groom's efforts to organise a perfect wedding for his control freak fiancée. He has 12 grand to splash but will he make or break the bride's big day?
Turn on ITV1 on Wednesday at 7.00pm and you'll come face to face with the second semi final. If the very thought makes you shudder, set a reminder for BBC2's intriguingly titled The Private Life of Cows. No, this isn't a show about how Victoria Beckham spends her down time. Instead, Jimmy Doherty heads to Devon in search of answers to questions like: why have 1,000 people been injured by cows in the last ten years? Tune in from 8.00pm.
Alternatively, there's a delicious portion of fat programming on BBC3 from 8.00pm. On Big Meets Bigger, two engorged Brits are sent to stay with a couple of morbidly obese ladies from Mississippi. Will the experience prompt our girls to start slimming?
Come 10pm on Sunday 11th July, it'll all be over. But don't let up on your avoidance tactics just yet. Here's what to watch instead of the World Cup final (BBC1 and ITV1 from 6.30pm).
From 7.00pm, Top Gear's James May attempts to make a Chelsea-worth flower garden out of Plasticine. This inventive, funny series about old-fashioned toys is getting a well-earned repeat run.
For football-fearing ladies, there's classic chick flick action on Five from 6.55pm. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks star in Sleepless in Seattle. No matter how many times you've seen it and sobbed, it's worth another watch.
