The Big C's Diagnosis: One More Short Season

Dr. Showtime had good news/bad news for its dramedy The Big C today at the Television Critics Association press tour. The good news: The Big C has been renewed for a fourth season! The bad news: The renewal is just for four one-hour episodes.

There had been some question about the future of The Big C, which stars Laura Linney as a woman with cancer, going into the Season 3 finale. And for fans, the concern was greater after the episode saw lead character Cathy Jamison leave everything behind in an ambiguous ending that left some viewers pleased and others irate. Now, producers will have a chance to sign off knowing it's really the end.

Give it up for Showtime for finding a compromise that should realistically please everyone!

4 hour long episodes is basically 8 normal episodes, which is plenty to wrap this up.. season 1 was good, but it's gradually gotten worse and worse with each episode after the season 1 finale.

I know I should be excited most that they'll get to wrap up the show, but I'm most excited that they'll complete the season cycle. Haha, is that weird?

It's always positive when a show is allowed to end on its own terms. We all get that shows end, it's understandable. But don't let them die without a proper ending. Thanks to Showtime for this.

OMG the suspense of this news has been killing me! I'm really glad that it has a chance to wrap everything up properly, and I'm only a little sad that it's ending.
