I would think the most popular death would be Lori from The Walking Dead.

waited a season for her to die and then in the last episode or two she gets a little bit less annoying.
At least I don't want Carl to die anymore...lol

Ashur from Spartacus...my fav caracter on the show, through three seasons. Sad to see him go, but he was sent off in style. I thought he did some great acting, and his storylines were always intriguing.

Also Dale from TWD shocked me. Didn't like his death too much.

Obv. Opie...but it seemed like they were done with him, well in advance of his death. So it wasn't a surprise, but still sad.

Bobby....they took away heart and soul of Supernatural ! I miss Bobby on Supernatural ! Unforgiveable for what they did! As Amy would have said it: "Freaking pigs!"
8
Reply
Flag
But they replaced him with Garth--doesn't that make it all better?
Reply
Flag
No. While I have nothing against DJ Qualls and I love having him on Supernatural, Bobby is irreplaceable! They can bring back Dean and Sam in every f-ing way possible and bringing apocalypse on us,by doing so,everyone around them die. Like Bobby told them in Weekend at Bobby's(pure awsomeness, easily in top 5 episode of Supernatural),they are not at the center of universe and how about they help him for a change.
Reply
Flag
Sorry, that was wicked sarcasm. I hate that they killed Bobby and went through the roof when they "replaced" him with Garth.

I was expecting to see characters from Downton Abbey here... I won't spoil it but be prepared for amazing characters's death in season 3 of the show !

Etta from Fringe.

Bobby from Supernatural.
Mike from Breaking Bad.
Ashur, Mira and Oenomaus from Spartacus: Vengeance.
Lane Pryce from Mad Men.

I won't name the Merlin character, since it'll spoil it for US viewers, but I definitely cried.

Exactly! Even though it hasn't aired in the US yet, I still think the characters who died in Merlin should have been mentioned. I think those were the saddest deaths for me this year...

It's been a sad year, I didn't expect to see Tarlock and Amon on this list but after seeing them I thought about it and it made sense, their departure was quite explosive (I'm so funny).

ETTA - still hurts. Like Olivia said - it's hard when you see those posters, but you also want to.

Bobby - idgets!

I liked the death episode of Lori. Superbly handled episode.

But the perfect death episode for me I think was the one where Buffy's mom died. Masterpiece of an episode.

Honorable mention - Liz on Louie. The way she died was just so weird and such an uncomfortably funny scene which combined humor, silliness and sadness.

Etta dying was a huge mistake for Fringe. We all know Olivia is the major character but if you really think about it, Olivia dying would have been a better story in the long run. Just to have someone new and fresh with this whole resistance to be killed off like that just wasn't right.

I'm still hoping for some kind of alt-universe/timey-winey to bring her back!
Reply

Simple - Opie and Mike. I didn't look through the list, but I feel confident with these picks :-) I actually believed Ellen was going to die all through season 5 Damages, but she didn't otherwise she would be on my list. Lori was a pretty major death too.

I agree. How could I forget Mike too. Such a sad death.

sad because he died by the hands of incompetent killer WW

T-Dog from the Walking Dead, Lady Sybil from Downton Abbey and Lily Bell from Hell On Wheels were significant but the biggest was Opies death on Sons Of Anarchy, I never fully recovered from that one.
AND I was just spoiled on Downton Abbey's Matthew Crawley! So I'll have to add him to the list as well, I did not see that one coming

Downton Abbey set us up emotionally just to increase our pain on the most recent death - the most tender moments possible, then stab our soul!

Lexie Grey and Mark Sloan (Grey's Anatomy). Lady Sybil and Matthew Crawley (Downton Abbey). Tragic, just tragic.

Tell me about it. I LOVED Lexie, and was sooooo hoping she'd finally get back together with Mark. Instead they both die... WHAT?!

I still not sure Tarlock and Amon are really dead.

There was also Leena from Warehouse 13. Her death was really upsetting and it kinda triggered a more darker tone to the series.

While only a guest actor, I was very attached to Mr. Feeny on Grey's Anatomy. His death was tragic, but helped turn one of my two least favourite characters on the show (I hate Christina and Meredith) into a bearable character I don't want to see written off the show. Now if only they could do something about Meredith.

Hope to see Mr. Feeny on Girl Meets World!

what about Lexie and Mark? That was really sad

I think this one should definitly be included even though it was not the death of a major character. The scene had in my opinion the biggest WTF impact of 2012, because well, you just didn't expect them to magically blow the guy up. The show could go dark at times, but this was a whole new level of crazy for the show. I'm talking about...

Samuel in The Secret Circle - Sacrifice

I cried like a baby with Dale died.

And then I was in shock with T-Dog.

And I didn't even like Lori, but I started to bawl like a baby once again with her death.

And... well, I cheered when Shane died. Twice.

Gotta love TWD.

I knoww, poor Dale. I cried too. I only cried when Lori died because of Rick's reaction, man that killed me.

Dale's death hurt me the most, but Lori's death was quite traumatic too - she was a pain often, but I tried to forgive her for it since she was hyped up on preg hormones.
