The CW was the last of the major networks to release its fall schedule, taking the stage in New York Thursday morning. With four new series in its lineup for fall, the network employed the strategy of pairing freshman shows with returning shows in hopes of building viewers from its core audience. Here's a look day-by-day of the new schedule (as usual, all times subject to change):
Mondays: It's Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage night! Gossip Girl moves up an hour to 8pm, where it will become the lead-in for new program Hart of Dixie. Dixie stars Rachel Bilson as a young doctor (where do I sign up for an appointment?) who inherits a medical practice in a small town full of unusual characters.
Tuesdays: 90210 moves back a day to Tuesday, and will be paired with new series Ringer. The CW has high hopes for the new drama, which stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as a woman who's on the run from the mob because the sole witness to a wiseguy murder. She flees to New York, meets her estranged, wealthy twin sister, and assumes that same sister's identity after the sister disappears... only to find out that her new identity is also that of a wanted woman.
Wednesdays: Reality takes over on Wednesdays with America's Top Model in it's familiar 9pm slot. Debuting in the 8pm slot is new series H8R, which sees celebrities try to win over the favor of normal people who H8 them. H8R is, obviously, hosted by Mario Lopez.
Thursdays: It's Hot Teens Night—or at least Centuries-Old Studs Who Look Like Teens Night. Supernatural beings own Thursdays at The CW, with The Vampire Diaries leading off a block based on works by author L.J. Smith. New series The Secret Circle follows VD at 9pm, and stars Britt Robertson (Life Unexpected) as a teen who discovers she's a witch.
Fridays: Nikita moves to Fridays at 8pm, while Sam and Dean Winchester and the rest of the wacky Supernatural crew stay put at 9pm. You know they scheduled the boys at 9pm on a Friday because they know we'll watch the show no matter what time it's on, right?
As usual, there's no new CW programming on Saturdays or Sundays. One Tree Hill, in what could be its last season, will return for 13 episodes sometime in the first half of 2012.
