The Dream of the '90s Is Still Alive: IFC Renews Portlandia for Two More Seasons

I hope you have enough mustache wax saved up to last you through 2017! IFC has ordered two more seasons of its hipster-friendly, free-range, eco-friendly, male-skirt-wearing, vegan-strip-club-attending, Libertarian comedy Portlandia. The move extends the comedy's run through Season 6 and Season 7, and barring some wacko change in scheduling, ensures it will run through 2017 and be on the air during Hillary Clinton's presidency. Each season will run for 10 episodes.

Portlandia stars Saturday Night Live veteran/impressive weirdo Fred Armisen and former/current Sleater Kinney guitarist Carrie Brownstein, both of whom play a bunch of eccentric residents of Portland, Oregon. In terms of wig use, the series is second only to FX's The Americans.

I'm a little surprised by the two-season order, but IFC has proved itself to be fairly aggressive with its original comedy programming. Prior to its double renewal of Portlandia, the network's most recent re-up on Comedy Bang! Bang! was for a whopping 40 episodes. However, it DID cancel The Birthday Boys last month, so I guess it's feast or famine with IFC.

Yeah! Portlandia is funny (most of the time) and when I lived in not-Portland it reminded me of home. The intro is on point.
