The Librarians: Noah Wyle Is Returning in a Big Way for Season 3

I have some good news for fans of TNT's The Librarians. Noah Wyle, an executive producer on the series who also starred in the TV movies that spawned the magical drama, has signed on to return in a big way for the show's third season. According to Deadline, Wyle will appear in six of the 10 scheduled episodes as Flynn Carsen. But that's not all! Wyle will also go behind the camera to direct two episodes this season, and he'll also write one.

Wyle's contract for the series is year-to-year as he was starring on the network's science-fiction drama Falling Skies when it was developed. Falling Skies wrapped up its fifth and final season last year, but not before Wyle made his directorial debut, which he then followed up by directing one of The Librarians' second season episodes.

In addition to Wyle, the series also stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette as a team employed by an ancient organization hidden beneath New York's Metropolitan Public Library. They solve mysteries, recover powerful magical artifacts, and fight against the supernatural to protect the world from "secret magical realities."

Is Wyle's larger presence in Season 3 music to your ears?

Yes, I love Noah Wyle. He is such a good on that show but so fun to watch. Christian Kane is my favorite though. My fave character he does is when he was on Angel. I wish he would grow his hair long again

I've seen all the Librarian movies and to me Noah Wyle really helps tie the movies to the TV series so I'm glad he will be more visible in the series this time. :)

Show feels better to me when Flynn is on it. Other than Larroquette, the other leads just don't quite have the screen presence to suck me in for an hour of harmless nonsense.

My least favorite episodes are Flynn episodes. I liked him in the movie, but he interrupts and screws up the dynamic of the new team when he shows up.

It's nice that he'll be in this show, but it feels like he needs to decide one way or the other where he wants to go. Flynn coming and going is holding the series back, last season was hamstrung by him being a main character only half the time. Either the team grows without him, or he leads them, but it doesn't work both ways.

I enjoyed watching the movies and the series. I am excited about Noah Wylie coming back in a big way in Season 3. I really like this show.

I wanted to love this series. The movies were such fun. But I'm afraid the only thing that will help the show now is to get rid of everyone EXCEPT Noah Wylie and start from scratch. The movies were silly, but believable in the same way that Indiana Jones is believable. That is, you had to suspend your disbelief about "magical" artifacts. But the show's revolving around the idea of magic in general just comes across as stupid.

Do you ever read the entire post, or do you just cherry-pick a word or two and go from there? What did you believe your reply added to this discussion? I couldn't help but notice you didn't actually have a post of your own, so maybe you should read all of mine and then shut up, troll boy.

I loved the movies, and like the show almost as much, the casting of John Laroquette was genius, and I really enjoy the occasional appearances of original cast members Jane Curtain, and Bob Newhart(I think he is a ghost in the show now).. I know they are both probably not interested in doing full series at this point.. but I will take any bit of them they feel like doing.. Glad Wylie will be in more episodes, Love Rebecca and the 'newbies' are growing on me.. I wish it continues for a long run..

As long as Rebecca Romijn is in it, I will watch.

Not really. As long as he is in some episodes, I am good. It doesn't matter to me who directs or writes the episodes...

The series did not hold my attention I'm sorry to say but if Noah Wyle's character came back I could start watching it again but I did like the movies more.

I guess this is good? In Season 1 the main characters and Wyle's character (guest role) didn't mix so well. Season 2 was better, but it still felt a little awkward. Hopefully season 3 will improve the mix even more.

yay !!!!!!!!!! He would be a regular in season 4. It would have been better if the episode count was 15 rather than 10

I loved the initial three movies that the series is based on, and Flynn Carsen is such a lovably roguish character to watch, so yes, I'm happy about this.

I love Flynn (and Wylie is a great actor) so I think it will be a bonus that he's returning. Rebecca Romijin (?) has always been good, but she seems much more mature than the other librarians & she and Flynn have had a good connection IMO. I anticipate they'll pick up where they were leaving off in the 2nd season I think. Where the younger librarians are going off together and Flynn and Eve are going on more dangerous missions. I could be totally wrong, but either way I think that having Flynn back will be a great addition.

Ugg. I like Wyle as an actor, always have, but I loath Flynn Carsen. The regular cast are much more interesting and I'd rather see more of them.

Ehh I don't like Carson all that much. I like Cassandra, Ezekiel, stone, Baird, and Jenkins. I'd love to see back story for Jenkins when he went by Galahad.

If this comment section is any indication, Flynn is polarizing. I couldn't stand him at first but I think they handled his appearances better in the second season.

Now that his stupid dog-sword is back, though, time will tell if that makes his presence unbearable again.

This news doesn't surprise me at all. What with FS being over. I still haven't made it past the season 1 finale. This show was totally MEH for me, and after of watching 3 out of 5 season's of FS. I think it will be a while longer before I take another trip to the Library:-/

I've watched the first 3 librarian movies before the TV show it spawned from. And I really liked the show. So for me, seeing Flynn Carson back in action, is fun. I just hope that all leads get a chance to shine in some ways.

Honestly the show is better when Flynn is not on it. I like Wyle but he just throws off the chemistry of the group.

for me Flynn often elevates the show from barely watchable to mildly watchable.

Could go either way. I like current approach where Flynn is off doing something elsewhere and show focuses on other characters, until he shows up in the end for finale.

So if there is more of him it can ruin the group dynamics, specially considering his relationship with Eve. And he was always something of a boss, or at least first among equals, which could again thre spanner in the works.

But if show manges to ballance all that then it could work

He better start smoking 60 cigs a day for that OTT deep throat action he gives to be on hand.

Having Flynn around more isn't necessarily a problem but he tended to crowd out the other characters when he was in an episode. More Flynn episodes but less Flynn per episode would balance things out.

They've played up his wacky behavior on the show which is annoying sometimes but I liked him in the movies, and I'm glad they're bringing him on more. I expected it to happen after Falling Skies ended though.
