The New Game of Thrones Trailer is Longer and Dragonier (VIDEO)

HBO has released a new trailer for Season 3 of Game of Thrones, and this one is 21 seconds longer than the last one! But it's almost exactly like the last one! So what's different about it? Aside from some shuffling around of scenes, the 21 extra seconds added some sexiness, a bear, an upset Brienne, and a bit more dragon. Take a look-see.

Want to see exactly how they're different? I've put together a side-by-side viewing of the two on this nifty web site. Let it run and repeat and watch it hypnotically for hours! It's Sunday!

Season 3 of Game of Thrones premieres March 31 on HBO.

Trailers like this need music that sounds less like it came from a CW show.

DROGON!!!!! So cute. =D I love you, Drogon. Rhaegal's cool too, but Viserion reminds me too much of Viserys. Ugh. Viserys was the worst.

By the way is one of the dragons female? Would one need to be female to keep the line of dragons going, or do they work differently? Personally I'm kind of hoping Rhaegal is female just because he/she seems like the only one who COULD be. Ya' know what I mean? Any explanation of dragon breeding would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

They mention in book 4 (I think) that there isn't any gender in dragons and that nobody really knows how they reproduce

Oh okay. Thanks. PS Wouldn't it be 5 'cause book 4 was all in Westeros and the dragons (unfortunately) aren't? I dunno. Still on book 2.

I'm pretty sure it is on book 4 (because I just finished it), but i can't recall who said it or why. If somebody could clear that out thanks.

Okay. Maybe I'll get back to you once I've finished . . . See ya' in a couple hundred years!! LOL =D

Anybody know exactly what the situation is with GRRM and HBO? Any diehard fan here have any info on this guy and what he is doing right now, because everywhere you look it's all this talk about "other projects". What the f--k other projects beside finishing this? Is HBO going to move on with the series following some sort of layout he'll provide like how they do with anime?

Anybody know, because then if GOT goes beyond ASOIAF, I'd have to watch this... which I don't really want to, but will if I got to... And since s02 surged into book 3, can we expect s03 to surge into that bloated monstrosity that was book 4+5? Because books 3, 4, and 5 can basically be one season if they pace it right.

Mm. I really curse the day i ever heard about AGOT. So much suffering...

There is the possibility that GoT won't follow the same plot of SoIaF. Season 2 wasn't exactly the same as a CoK (especially the Daenerys plot).

We know that ASoS is being split up into two seasons, so there's two years. AFfC and ADwD will probably be reworked to a more linear timeline, but I'd imagine they will take one season for each book, so add another two years. That leaves GRRM a little over 4 years to release TWoW. Which, even with his maddening propensity to take what feels like FOREVER to write a new book, is definitely doable.

BUT

Then it gets a bit tricky/batshit crazy, because I've read he's thinking of extending ASoIaF to 8 books! And seeing as the average time for him to churn out these literary masterpieces of fantasy is approximately 4-5 years, we've GoT a serious problem (see what I did there?).

Maybe The Winds of Winter will be a monster that will require two seasons to get right, but even still, the show is currently advancing faster than GRRM's ability to finish the series. Not to mention the little actress who plays Arya Stark is not going to stop growing. I honestly don't know what the hell is going to happen.

It's gonna be interesting.

That is exactly what I thought! I mean with the 8 books. There is no way he can tell all there is to tell in two more books ... and the 8th will be split in two.
Maisie will be 28 when they start shooting the final season!
Which is awesome.

If there's anyone who can pull off looking 14-18(?) when they're 28, it's Maisie.

Let's be real. GoT will never last that long (for various reasons), 8 seasons is stretching it a little bit. 9 seasons tops I say.

As long as he doesn't string it out so long he pulls a Robert Jordan, I'm okay.

Jordan: 1984 - 2007

GRRM: 1991 - Present

I hope Martin is keeping his cholesterol down.

At this point I'd almost prefer if he gave it over to Sanderson. Or Abercrombie. Abercrombie could finish this whole series in a couple years. Out of all the authors today - I think he has the best time:quality balance. Two seasons for ASOS?!?! Why, pray tell? Stalling tactic?

Just found the two chapters he released for Arianne and Theon. Looks as if he picked the pace up. No feast descriptions, at least...

Also, I see they're going to do Dunk and Egg?! Was anybody anywhere demanding this? I'd have preferred a Blackfyre/Bittersteel flashback... And when will they do this Dunk and Egg? 2018? Why is HBO pumping so much money into this when the future of the thing is so uncertain? smh

I'm going to just will myself into believing that the series will finish this up, because GRRM doesn't even have an estimated date of completion up this time around. Lemme get up on this HBO bandwagon...

Fire and Ice:

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

- Robert Frost

I swear, if this poem wasn't written in the 1920's, I'd think Robert was a GoT fan. Oh, and which dragon was that in the trailer? Drogon?

I'm gonna speculate it's far more likely that George has read a little Frost in his time.

I'm really not sure why, but while I found the original trailer a bit lackluster, this extended one got me all hyped up. Must be that bit of extra dragon or something. Also Brienne, gotta love Brienne.
