The New Revolution Trailer Reveals the First Footage of Elizabeth Mitchell (VIDEO)

In between gymnastics faceplants, guys running a long ways around ovals, and that weird sport you've never heard of where athletes do that thing with the thing, NBC is using its airwaves to pummel you with trailers for its upcoming new shows. That's the whole point of broadcasting the Summer Olympics anyway, to promote the fall season.

One of the shows that's getting a lot of airtime is Revolution, a post-apocalyptic drama set in a world 15 years after a global blackout. It's a big risk for NBC, but with Jon Favreau behind the camera, J.J. Abrams producing, and Supernatural's Eric Kripke running the show, it's a potential break-out hit.

The NBC PR machine is spinning things faster than the Disneyland teacups with its "special previews" during the Olympics, and this "extended trailer" from last night's primetime coverage is actually shorter than the original trailer released online two months ago. But it does feature something totally new: the first footage of Lost's Elizabeth Mitchell, who takes over the mom role from original pilot star Andrea Roth.

If you're interested in a more detailed take on Revolution, I saw the pilot at Comic-Con this year and wrote up some initial impressions (short story: it's okay, but has potential).

I like Eric Kripke so I'm going to give this series a shot. But so far I'm just not impressed from watching the trailers. Everyone looks clean cut and super neat in a post-apocalyptic world, I also don't think a small device can shut down the world's power so I'm guessing they will explain that during this series if I stick around.

1/2 second of Elizabeth Mitchell? Isn't this the exact same trailer released a few months ago?

Elizabeth Mitchell is back! I can't wait to see REVOLUTION. Love JJ, and when I've heard Elizabeth is in this show I thought YES, FINALLY! She is incredible! I hope to see her very often in the series, because she can make everything perfect! REALLY MISS HER A LOT! What a talent!

I love that VAST's Touched is getting some love, it's an awesome song. I don't get why Elizabeth Mitchell is such a big deal, I loved her as Juliet on Lost, but on V she was absolutely horrible.

This show, Revolution, I have this strange feeling that the idea was inspired by the book series The Hunger Games. Maybe the creator used that as inspiration, a sort of telling of the origins of how the world of The Hunger Games came to be. Maybe this "Revolution" event is what altered the American landscape and changed the future all together, putting us on that path to establishing "districts" and eventually returning to our primal most brutal forms of nature.

Mostly the show's female protagonist reminds me of Katniss Everdean with her bow and arrow archery skills.

Thank you for finally posting a video that can be viewed by anyone with an internet connection. The USA only videos are pretty annoying. Most of us don't live there.

That wasn't very different from the other trailer I've seen, but this one still made it look better somehow. I think it will be a fun show to watch, but I don't see how it's going to make it to a second season, since it looks LESS interesting than Flash Forward, which as we all know didn't get a second season.

??"Most of us don't live there"?? Most of who? This is an american site and they are american shows. I understand you would like to see the previews but don't make comments that don't make any sense.

I think this show looks awesome and I agree about Flash Forward, it was awesome and I wish it got more seasons but I don't think they promoted it as much as they are this show. I see billboards and commercials and internet ads everywhere for Revolution and on Facebook I can't get away from seeing people talk about this show. I hope it is able to have nice long 3-4 season story arcs because this could very well be the next blockbuster show or it can massively Fail. Also I read some posts about it being a premise to the Hunger Games, I see how people see the similarity but I don't see them going that route but if they are able to go that far with it it would probably be similar. Also I see a Jericho feel to this with the secret messages over the net when no one else has power.

Man I can't wait for The Revolution. With Favreau, Abrams, and Kripe behind this, I doubt this is going to suck.

I'm really excited to see this! I just hope that Kripke delivers on his promise to answer questions instead of drag the mystery out. But knowing that he did a great job on Supernatural, I don't doubt that he will.

Looking forward to this with high expectations. However must say those last few seconds of the trailer gave me Lost tics...

Just as long as they stay a million miles away from the abyssmal ending of that show, I won't panic.

Hey, I LIKE "that weird sport you've never heard of where athletes do that thing with the thing." It's the only sport, besides Curling, that I follow.

I'm actually very excited for this show. Probably more than I should be. I really WANT it to be good. With so much off-screen talent involved in its production, my expectations are quite high. I hope they steer clear of the Disney Family elements which plagued Terra Nova. I prefer a gritty and visceral show as opposed to fluffy and safe. Don't be afraid to kill characters off. Don't make teenage romances a central focus. DO have as many sword fights as possible without being gratuitous.

Revolution is one of my most anticipated shows of the fall. Though I can't help but feel like an idiot for getting my hopes up for anything on NBC.

From Jon Favreau, J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke I hoped much,MUCH more from the trailer, but I hope this will be a good tv series because we need a good sci-if after Fringe is gone :(
