In between gymnastics faceplants, guys running a long ways around ovals, and that weird sport you've never heard of where athletes do that thing with the thing, NBC is using its airwaves to pummel you with trailers for its upcoming new shows. That's the whole point of broadcasting the Summer Olympics anyway, to promote the fall season.
One of the shows that's getting a lot of airtime is Revolution, a post-apocalyptic drama set in a world 15 years after a global blackout. It's a big risk for NBC, but with Jon Favreau behind the camera, J.J. Abrams producing, and Supernatural's Eric Kripke running the show, it's a potential break-out hit.
The NBC PR machine is spinning things faster than the Disneyland teacups with its "special previews" during the Olympics, and this "extended trailer" from last night's primetime coverage is actually shorter than the original trailer released online two months ago. But it does feature something totally new: the first footage of Lost's Elizabeth Mitchell, who takes over the mom role from original pilot star Andrea Roth.
If you're interested in a more detailed take on Revolution, I saw the pilot at Comic-Con this year and wrote up some initial impressions (short story: it's okay, but has potential).
