The Nine pulled

ABC has pulled The Nine from its schedule, the network announced Saturday. In the series' place this Wednesday, November 29, will be the 20/20, with a permanent replacement TBA.

ABC pulled The Nine for the last week of the pivotal sweeps period, when ratings samples are taken to determine ad prices for the next year. The network says the show will return later in the season.

The Nine has struggled in the ratings since its premiere October 4. The pilot scored a meager 4.0, outpacing NBC's since-canceled Kidnapped but losing almost 50 percent of its Lost lead-in. Nine then sunk to a 3.2 weekly average.

The Nine tells the story of nine people who endured a 52-hour hostage standoff. The series is the second character-rich serial drama that ABC has pulled this season due to poor ratings--Six Degrees was also yanked from its Thursday slot, where it was roundly beaten each week by NBC's ER and CBS's new show, Shark.

I LOVE BOTH THE NINE AND 6 DEGREES. THEY ARE A DIFFERENT KIND OF SHOW. TOO BAD THEY WERE PULLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • funneverends

This was a great show. It kept my interest and I looked forward to it each week. I even DVR'd it when I wasn't home so I could keep up. I don't know what's up with Executives. They make decisions without really thinking what the masses want. No wonder I now watch a lot of cable and they lose a lot of viewers. That's exactly what a lot of us are doing.

  • audraperry

I really enjoyed this show. I have nothing to watch pre-Lost, and miss seeing the Party of Five semi-reunion happening every Wednesday. I hope it does better later. My friends and family liked it too, I wonder who "they" survey to decide what shows stay and which one's go.

  • dchusker

Please bring back the show for a satisfactory ending!

TV EXECUTIVES PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!My husband and I are getting tired of all of these tv shows being pulled in the middle of the season with no ending! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! What happened to the day when I show was cancelled at the end for the next season. We think we are not going to start and watch any new shows, since we end up wasting so much of our time over a two month period to be left hanging. I don't think we will watch The Nine when it returns just out of principal. Last season the same thing happened. 2 shows we watched were cancelled mid stream with no end and no answers. We are starting to PLAY BOARD GAMES OR WATCH A MOVIE WE KNOW WILL HAVE AN ENDING OR OUTCOME!moreless

it may be slow phased but it seems necessary for the plot>>>

    JUST BRING IT BACK>>>>

    NOW!!!!!

As of January 4, 2007 "The Nine" is still officially on hiatus (not cancelled) so there is still an opportunity for all of us to try and save this extraordinary show. At the very least we want to see the remaining episodes for this season. So has everyone signed the online petitions? Has everyone also sent ABC a postcard? Its important for all fans of "The Nine" to do this if we really want the network to hear us. And hey, this is one time when every single vote will actually count for something. Thanks guys. Happy New Year to ALL!

  • kaufmval

This was one of the best new shows of the season. We have been watching the Mash reruns on TVLand. They have said that Mash,(one of the greatest shows ever) did not get very good ratings during the first season but look what happened there??
Give The Nine a chance to gather a following, it has a great story line and kept us coming back each week to see the story unfold.

  • BABaracus1974

I really liked this show. I absolutely loved Invasion. I don't know why ABC pulls these shows so quickly. Did anyone watch Reunion that was pulled just as fast. I should have gotten into all the CSI's or Law and Order they have staying power, but I didn't. Please bring back The Nine since you can't bring back Invasion since Eddie Cibrian has moved on to a different show!!!

  • Kurtize

ABC bring back The Nine, the show was good. If I knew I would miss a series I recorded on my DVR. The only shows I watched on ABC was The Nine, Ugly Betty and Grays anatomy.

  • jasliu

i liked the nine but it was more of a if i have time then ill watch and if not then who cares type of show. the only reason i actually started watching it was because of kim raver. well now that abc has pulled it i really do hope that kim raver will go back to 24 and reprise her role of audrey raines full time.

  • williecollin

Hey all of you The Nine fans please go to this site and vote to keep it on. http://www.savethatshow.com/Save_That_Show__The_Nine.shtml

PLEASE ABC DON'T TAKE AWAY THE NINE!!!!!!!!!!

  • tuilindsey

Dear ABCGiven your great talent in keeping shows like Greys and Trace....I a so shocked that you would pull the Nine Just when it got started. I am very busy and picky about what I spend time watching, and up to that bad choice, you had me totally. GET IT BACK before i go nuts.Lost , Ugly are both crap.Run with the Fast Horses.Tui

Ok - ABC (like NBC) YOU need to listen up! You will NEVER get a show to catch on if you keep canceling them and/or moving their time/night slots around. I'm in perfect agreement with those who HATE reality TV. Yes, there may be a select few that are sort-of worth your time, but come on guys - it's mindless based, only slightly better than Springer TV and oh, yeah, appeals to Springer's audience as well. You're scheduling TV based on the unintelligent that are currently watching crappy reality TV rather than trying to gain intelligent watchers like those of us who watch The Nine! Even after the stupid Fall Finale of Lost, WE KEPT WATCHING! (Lost and that episode aren't stupid, the fact that they called it a Fall Finale was.)What ever happened to airing a season of a show from Sept to March/April with only minor interruptions for Special Programming? I honestly miss the way networks scheduled a series when I was a kid. The modern way - 1/2 a season 'til around Nov/Dec, reruns 'til Jan/Feb (sometimes March), the next 1/2 season (maybe)and ooh...mid-season premiers (stuff replacing what they've canceled over the break) till maybe sometime in the Spring (if we're lucky and they don't cancel more replacing them with reruns) and then a summer season. I kind of like the new summer season, but if you'd quit taking 1, 2, and 3 month-long breaks, you might actually keep and audience for a new show.moreless

Here's a great idea for the production team over at "The Nine". Guys, find yourselves another network to sell this brilliant show to. If you look at the lineup on ABC you'll see that this network is not exactly one for intelligent shows like "The Nine". I mean c'mon...Supernanny and WifeSwap??? And their decision to use "Lost" as a lead in show when the Lost audience is significantly younger in age than the majority of those who watch "The Nine"? Many Tim Daly fans still can't believe that this same network actually put "The Nine" in the same ill-fated time slot as they did last season with another brilliant Tim show called "Eyes". And the decision to put it on hiatus during a holiday week and on the busiest travel day of the year? What's up with the execs at ABC??? Studio 60 and other shows that didn't have great ratings are still on and "The Nine" is on hiatus? If ABC doesn't want to air any adult-oriented programs (i.e. like The Nine) then I guess I'm too old for ABC (and I'm in my 30s...)moreless

  • danacat

First Invasion, then the Nine, and Day Break. What is wrong with the exec's at ABC? Don't they realize that some of us want quality primetime serials...no just reality and news magazines that only repeat what the actual news tells us every day? ABC, WAKE UP PLEASE!!!!!

I signed up too because of The Nine.... BRING IT BACK! I loved the show.... I hope it comes back.....Maybe a new time slot??? Is there anyone who is tired of all the Reality shows taking over?

  • jkaye31

I actually signed up for this site to complain about the Nine being pulled...at least give it one season, I mean come on.

  • ddavis714

What is up w/ABC? I think 8.6 million viewers should be allowed to watch this show to the end. Come on....finish what you start! But of course I don't think ABC is listening!

  • Kerrylynn94

I am extremely disappointed that they pulled THE NINE, it was a different show and I often wonder what happen to people after they go through a terrifying ordeal so it was well worth making the show! I hope they bring it back.....

  • sagarmathasgirl

I liked The Nine mainly because I am a freakishly attentive Lost fan and The Nine made a good lead-out (is that a word?). I was engrossed by the bank robbery shots and although I agree that the aftermath is getting a bit tepid, it's at least a little relaxing between the high-adrenaline bank robbery scenes (and between Lost and sleeping).
The best part of the show, though, was the bank robbery, by far. I hope, even if they do end up cancelling it, that they'll have one last episode where they show the entire robbery (condensed, of course). I will go insane if I don't find out what actually happened to Felicia and Eva.

  • Tenordruid

this is completey rediculous!!!!! Altyohg it's not the best show, I thought it was pretty good. maybe it's because Kim Raver captivates me? All in all after getting so involved with invasionI don't trust watching anything new that ABc brings out fir their next line-up. Who cares if the 9 occlock time slot is domintated by NYCSI or medium, Law and Order? I don't watch those shows. Occasionally I'll watch NY CSI. Its a pretty good show. Far better than Miami. Divid carradine>!>!>!>! Worse than William Shtaner in Star Trek. Come on you know what I mean!!!

Anyhow. How can I see the latest episode. it's not available online through ABC.

  • lissa37

I am extremely disappointed to hear this. At least it was only pulled and not cancelled, but that still isn't good and I don't think "The Nine" deserved it at all. "The Nine" is the best new show I've seen in a long time and it's my favorite show -- new or old -- this year. It even passed up Gilmore Girls in my eyes, and I've been a fan of that show since its first season. I look forward to seeing The Nine each week and learning a little more of the mystery. I was immediately intrigued when I saw the Pilot and I couldn't wait for more. Now, I guess we'll have to, since they won't even tell us when it'll come back. I don't predict a bright future -- pulling isn't good -- but, I truly hope ABC wakes up and decides not to cancel this excellent show. The cast is fabulous, the concept is amazing, the writing is good... its fantastic and maybe its writings didn't quite match that, fine. But, the quality certainly did. I wish networks would stop cancelling and/or pulling high-quality shows just because the ratings often peak for shows of much lesser quality. (And, no, I'm not saying all high-rated shows are crappy; just that there are many that are.)moreless

  • mackski

This is too bad. I have been copying them on my DVR since week one and watched them over Thxgiving and liked it a lot......but redthor makes a good point that the story is impossible to maintain much intrest when it is on only once a week.....too bad.

  • redthor

The show had potential if it was on daily. It is impossible to maintain an audiences interest when they have to wait a week just to watch a tiny part of the plot to be revealed. Besides the show was really following many more than 9 characters. Each character interacted with 2 other characters. The 27 would have been a better title.
Six Degrees had the same problem.

  • antdude

I only liked the heist flashbacks of each episode in the beginnings. I don't care about the aftermaths.

  • Sanceres

I wish I had known about The Nine being pulled before I spent Friday catching up on all the episodes...I'll delete all the Six Degrees now that it has also been pulled. I thought they were pretty good shows.

  • b7a7s7eball

Really ABC shows are just not making lately. I tuned into Commander and Chief and that show rocked. It has taken me a long time to get over that one. I hope this one doesn't completely go away but this same thing happened last year.

  • sc0tty

It wasn't as good as I was hoping for, but it was engaging and about the only thing I watched with regularity.

I think I'll upgrade my NetFlix subscription.

  • killcoyle

Now that the NINE is gone bring back invasion

  • thefuppy

I quite liked this show. It at least tried to be different. I'm frustrated that so many shows get pulled before anyone has a chance to really get into them: Vanished, Smith, Kidnapped....I'm not saying all deserve to be saved, but at least give them a chance, jeez, Smith got yanked after only three episodes!

  • PerfectDark0Fan

I never watched the nine. This is kinda good news because Kim Raver could devote more time to 24.

  • othlover18

i actually liked it but i knew it would get cancelled so i stoped watching before i got into it to much

  • BeachfrontGlass

Why not just move these badly rated shows to Saturday where there is no competition? Then they can atleast finish out their runs with some hope of return. CBS did alright on Saturdays a few years ago with shows like the District. It's not like anyone actually watches tv live anymore... We all just record it and watch it on the weekends anyway.

  • danharr

I tolerated the show but no it wasn't must see tv for me but it was worth an hour each week too bad.

  • Will_of_the_D

I still maintain that Traveler is the one for this season.

  • co984life

It just seems like all the new shows I liked this year are getting pulled. Ugh! :(

  • da_DnA_dude

Not the best of all the fall shows, but I kinda liked it. Can't wait for its return.

  • sfviewer

Now Kim Raver have more time to devote to 24.

  • stealth0286

Oh thank god...Didnt like this show at all....

  • yodalover

i don't care as long as they bring invasion

  • playwriter

No great loss. I thought the premise was interesting, however, I watched an episode and a half, and was struck by the soap operaesque nature of it. There was no pull to keep me coming back. I truly didn't care what happened to those people.

  • KI4BBO

I've watched it.. but lately it's gotten kinda boring. I can see why they canceled. It was a so-so show, so I'm not very disappointed.

  • tonyftony716

The Nine was an ok show. I tried to like it. It has potential but everything just moved real slow. Nothing amazing or shocking has yet to happen. I mean I assume their is a payoff and a shocker soon but how long can you hold an audience for? I think if it was to go just one season and they wrap it all up in say the next 12 episodes it could be great TV. Oh and for those who put down serialized dramas. I think they are great! Yes it requires an attention span greater then that of a fly which most people don't have these days. I prefer to watch serialized dramas then a carbon copy crime drama that has every mystery and problem wrapped up in one hour every week.moreless

well at least there is now the possibility of Camille Guaty returning to Prison Break as Maricruz.
